excellent non-mathematical primer.......2003-09-21
I work in the securities industry, and this book accurately described the markets and products without the detailed mathematics. I would recommend this book as a first reading before the Hull and White book which is much more mathematical.
Too bad it's out of print. I'd like everyone in my group to have a copy.

I consider the book a perfect guide written by a professional for professionals. If you are looking for scientific completeness and complication, go somewhere else. If you are looking for a competent down-to-earth reference, this is your book. I wonder when the third edition of this valuable tool will be published.

Mixed bag.......2005-06-09
I have taught this book in a Christian-oriented Business Ethics college course aimed at working adult students.
This is a very professional work. There is an excellent selection of case studies, many of them of fairly recent vintage. There are great discussions of theoretical concepts including models of social involvement (from the likes of Friedman, Goodpaster, and Rivoli) and "groupthink."
The book falls short in the otherwise promising subtitle: A Judeo-Christian Approach to Business Ethics. Rae and Wong present a variety of different ethical approachs and find merit in nearly all of them. For instance, ethical egoism is found to be consistent with a Christian world view because, after all, each of us must be concerned with the future of our own soul. What we seem to get is a generally eclectic view of ethics. In the end, the authors give the greatest weight to virtue ethics. However, it is highly debateable whether this view properly characterizes the "Judeo-Christian approach." While concern for one's soul, virtues, etc., certainly are part of the Christian life, many Christian ethicists might characterize the overall approach in terms of a modified divine command theory. In any case, after laying out all these approaches, and picking their favorite, the authors fail to apply virtue ethics with any regularity to their subsequent commentaries and discussions.
In my class, students much preferred the other textbook we used: Richard C. Chewning, et al's "Business Through the Eyes of Faith." This is a very different kind of book from "Beyond Integrity," but it seemed to speak directly to the students' personal situations. We might have been better off using a standard secular text on ethics, together with Chewning et al. However, "Beyond Integrity" is the book to use if you must have a top-flight business text with a Christian point of view.
Few doubt that we need to raise the level of honesty and integrity in the workplace. Given that most Americans proclaim a belief in God, and at least pay lip service to the Bible and Christianity, it makes sense that we should be calling on our employers and employees to "walk the talk." Arguably, a properly practiced Judeo-Christian ethic can provide the resources to build a better business environment.
Excellent reference for christian business ethics.......1999-10-08
I am a Christian CEO in Hong Kong and have written a book review on this book for the Graduate Christian Fellowship a few months back. An excellent reference. Touched on many important and controversial issues including capitalism, bribery in third world, honesty, advertisement and marketing, etc. Presented many primary articles with balanced, provocative opinions from all sides. A book for the serious thinker. NOT FOR NEW CHRISTIAN BELIEVERS NOR FOR NON-BUSINESS PERSON. Only one criticism: the editors' own comments at the end of each chapter is a bit weak; not the same calibre as the 20-30 authors.

Very Much Helpful.......1997-11-01
I live in a high rise condominium with economic problems. I bought this book thinking I was wasting my money. After reading it I presented the book to the Board of Directors. To my surprise the Board accepted it and put the ideas to work. After five months the buidling is now in the right track. I want to thank you the author John Harbor for sharing his experiences.
Difficult to read - desperately needs an editor........1997-08-17
Although there are a few good ideas in this book, the reader will have a hard time finding them. The book suffers greatly from its lack of an editor. Probably half of the book contains sentences characterized by poor grammar and misspelled words. In fact, I use the word "sentence" loosely because many of the words between a capital letter and period do not form complete thoughts. The book is definitely not worth its price. Content-wise, a good editor could have reduced its substance down to a couple of informative newspaper articles

End of Days the story of my family that I never got to meet........2006-03-16
My name is Max Stappler however my parents, Edith and Siegfried, born in Austria changed the spelling from Stapler. My parents were able to escape Austria to the USA a few days after Hitler marched in. This is the story of the rest of my family from Poland who were not lucky enough to escape.
End of Days.......2005-03-17
In the book The End of Days, by Helen Sendyk is telling her life story of when she was a young Jewish girl. She wrote the novel in first person so it was like she was telling her life story to me. The choice of words she used in the novel were very descriptive and explained very clearly how it was. She moved the book along at a pretty fast paste which I really liked. I could imagine everything that was happening in my head as if it were a movie.
The theme in the novel is her telling the struggles she went through in her life. She was a young Jewish girl when her and her family were put in a concentration camp. The novel explained some of the horrible things she went through in the camp and the many family members she lost. The part of the novel that had really saddened me was the fight after the camp to stay sane. I would recommend this book to anyone. This book will change the way you treat different people and how your actions can affect people. I was amazed what happened to this poor girl and who ever reads this will be also.
Multiply This by Six Million.......2002-11-09
Six million dead is hard to bend your mind around. This small book gives part of the experiences of one family and ultimately one survivor. If you have a hard time grasping the enormity of the Holocaust read this book. It is raw, open and honest. It is one person's experience of the monstrosity of the Third Reich. Sendyk tells her story from the perspective of a young girl and with the wisdom of a mature woman. Three from a family of ten survived. Many more from their extended family were killed. If you are studying the holocaust, read this book. It puts a human face on Six Million.

The End Of Days: A Memoir Of The Holocaust is the personal memoir of Helen Sendyk, one of very few Jewish women to survive the living hell of a German slave labor camp during the Nazi Holocaust of World War II. A personal, eye-witness testimony to brutal and horrific inhumanity inflicted upon the women by their Nazi captors and collaborators, as well as a testament the enduring strength of Helen Sendyk's inner qualities that enabled her to survive when so many others could not, The End Of Days is a moving account and a very highly recommended contribution to Holocaust Studies reading lists and reference collections -- especially in view of the pernicious attempts in some quarters to deny the appalling atrocities of the "Final Solution".
