Customer Reviews:
Excellent book, especially the modeling.......2004-08-10
Daryanani's book does have some rough edges, but it is far and away the clearest, most logical of the many I've read on IRAs and Roth IRAs. He has a systematic way of building a portfolio of Roth and non-Roth assets, and clear explanation on how to convert the assets to an inflation-adjusted, after-tax annuity at various retirement ages. He uses sample investor profiles which are very useful in converting the math to scenarios an average person can relate to and understand.
Traditional IRA vs. Roth IRA Conversion.......2000-03-23
I am over 65 and have found the "Roth IRA Book, An Investor's Guide" by Dr. Gobind Daryanani to be an excellent information source. There are a number of factors to be considered in evaluating the the conversion of a Traditional IRA to a Roth IRA. Dr.Daryanani's book is an excellent supplement to IRS Publication 590 (Individual Retirement Arrangements) since it explains and clarifies many potential problem areas. His book is well organized and written in clear understandable language. The book, together with reference to Pub. 590, provided the information I needed to feel comfortable in my IRA planning and execution.
Step-by-step, help you determine if a ROTH is right for you.......1999-01-23
This book takes some pretty complicated number crunching and makes sense our of it. It walks you step-by-step throught the calcualtions to determine what kind of benefit a ROTH IRA would provide to you. After reading you should easily be able to tell if the ROTH IRA is the best choice for you. Additionally, if you have other funds eligible for rollover into a ROTH IRA, the book helps you determine the optimum rollover amount. I thought is was very well written.
The best book on the topic........1999-01-07
I've been reading a lot about the Roth and this is the most complete treatment I've seen. This is easy to follow and complete. I'm happy to have read it and have already saved money.
Contains little more than standard journalistic accounts........1998-12-01
I was disappointed in the book. I reasoned that a decision involving thousands of dollars warrants a $40 book purchase. Unfortunately, there is little to be gained from this book that can't be found from a quick search of public media. Moreover, the author uses this hastily-prepared book as a platform for selling yet another product, a so-called "high-end software package" to compute "optimal" Roth conversion levels. No book or software can really deliver an "optimal" recommendation due to the many uncertainties involved. The failing of this book is that it does not help the reader intelligently consider the variables and possibilities. It's full of boosterism about the virtues of the "Roth project." It has not been spell-checked, much less edited. The level of organization and quality of writing style are exemplified by the fact that Chapter 7 (SEVEN) begins, "The Roth IRA is a new type of IRA that has been made available as of January 1, 1998. It is named after..." In sum, an opportunistic volume targeted to the millions who need help with a complex financial decision.

Book Description
This book broadens the range of theoretically informed empirical research on business ethics (using data from major American corporations) and addresses the underlying questions about business ethics scholarship. It culminates a decade’s work by the authors—individually, jointly, and with others.
The first part of the book addresses the major theoretical questions involved in doing empirical research about normative issues. It addresses the boundaries—methodological, conceptual, and institutional—that too easily separate philosophical and social scientific approaches to business ethics and reviews various ways in which those approaches can be brought close together to benefit research and practice.
The second part of the book describes and explains the increasing institutionalization of formal systems designed to manage ethics in organizations. It reviews the state of the art initiatives to foster ethical business conduct and also looks at the relative roles of executives and external policies (e.g., government regulations) in creating meaningful ethical initiatives.
In the third part, the focus shifts to individual ethical behavior and how organizations influence it, describing in detail some of the outcomes of organizational ethics initiatives. It also looks at successes, failures, and new prospects in the effort to identify and explain the multiple factors that influence individual ethical behavior.

Book Description
"Krallinger has done an excellent job presenting a balanced view of both the opportunities and pitfalls for buyer and seller in the M&A game--a comprehensive discussion of "the process" from the numbers to the all important human factors".--James Hamling, President, Berwind Industries, Inc. Do you have the know-how to assess a potential deal before committing your company's time and money, and then structure the deal so that both sides are satisfied? Can you "Cross the T's and dot the I's that are so critical for finalizing a successful merger or acquisition? Mergers & Acquisitions: Managing the Transaction is the first book to walk you through the entire M&A process whether you are a buyer OR a seller. From Chapter 1 (The Urge to Merge) through Chapter 12 (managing the Closing and Post-Closing Issues) Joseph Krallinger's detailed and insightful book includes all the information you will need, PLUS detailed appendixes covering both legal paperwork and purchase investigation work, to help you arrive at a profitable and advantangeous deal. Sample topics include: Standard merger and Acquisition Pitfalls; Accurate Valuation of a Business or Product Line; Venturing, Cross-Licensing and Partnering.
Customer Reviews:
Excellent Primer, Not for The Detailed Practicioner.......2002-06-15
At a very high level, Krallinger hits the right points for someone totally unfamilliar with the territory. His bulletted writing style makes for quick, easy reading, but requires you to do the reflection on them later on. I sympathize with other reviewers who found this book pithy and shallow, but they may have been looking for a much more detailed tome. This book prepares the reader to recognize at a high level what the issues are and provides a framework for working through them. That's it. It was perfect for me -- I had one night to think of good things to say before making a presentation that included some M&A issues the next day. All I needed was to be able to identify the issues. For that this is an excellent book. If you really spend time to deconstruct the bullet points, it is probably more profound, and for better or worse, the author left that work to the reader instead of writing a 1,000 page book.
Let us be serious!.......2001-09-14
This book insults the intelligence of any reader who owns at least one neurone. It also insults other true books concerning mergers and acquisitions. The advices the book contains are like this: "Warning! Don't pay twice for a company. You pay once when you buy it, and you could pay twice if you need to restructure it". Please, pick your brains!
Merge This Book with a Trash Can.......2000-03-15
I had hoped to use this book as a training tool for my staff - - it's promoted as a guide to the process. However, after evaluating a copy, I believe the better course of action is to have them watch my six year old trade Pokemon cards. There is more logic and strategy behind his activity than in this entire book.
Total waste of paper........1998-09-24
This book is characterized by poor writing, sloppy reasoning, and shallow content. Look elsewhere unless you have too much time and money on your hands.
This book is a stinker!!.......1998-08-25
I struggled to read this diatribe on Mr. Krallinger's years of M&A experience. The author tries to layout the M&A process to the average business person. He provides an appendix full of checklists, a timeline, and some very common sense do's and don't's. The rest of the book is filled with the author's unsubstantiated assertions, poor economic thinking, and xenophobic biases.
I brought the book to better understand the M&A process from a gritty, in-the-trenches prospective, but walked away feeling that I wasted my time filtering out the author's failings to find a few good nuggets.
Don't waste your time and money on this one.

Better than reading manuals to an extent.......2007-07-03
Presents a logical flow of the product and its usage. Although it is not written for the most current version of the product, the basics and details it covers are still very relevant. The book provides a much better collection/organization of material than reading through the myriad of product manuals, but it doesn't replace them.
There were a number of times that I jumped between the book and the manuals to really get the usage down.
Overall, I wish I had this book up front before I started working with the product. It sheds some light on items hard to locate in the manuals.
Covers a lot with tons of Acronyms - Confusing.......2004-04-22
There is a lot of information. Unfortunately there are hundreds of acronyms, most of them specific to Tuxedo programming. It becomes tedious boring reading as more later terms are described in older terms/acronyms. There are some diagrams but I did not find them particularly useful. Mostly architectural descriptions. Not a lot of working examples. Again, the reading is dry, but I'm not sure there is a better alternative out there on this topic.
An illution of simplicity.......2000-05-02
I find this book rather poorly structured. The authors have not decided if this is a book for developers or for administrators, and they try to make it a book for both. I think they have ended ut writing a book for nobody.
All code fragments need another look. I know that they are not intended for a compiler, but I think they should at least look that way.
As in most TUXEDO documentation the authors have a hard time getting to the point. Technical computer litterature can be a lot more pedagogic and easy to read than this!
A Model For Computer Books.......2000-03-24
This book is written the way books in this field should be written! Take note computer community, the authors of this book have not simply compiled an encyclopedia, but have carefully crafted a book. Early chapters provide theory and and lay the foundation for the detailed chapters that follow, covering everything from transactions to MIBS. Useful examples are povided, and it is impossible to finish this book without a conversational understanding of Tuxedo. If you need to know the difference between an RPC, FML buffer, and an RM, get the book!
Excellent Work.......1999-07-31
Great introduction to Tuxedo. What I like the most is the completeness of the book. In other words, they define all their terms and assume no prior knowledge. I got up to speed very quickly on Tuxedo thanks to this book.
Book Description
This book provides the first summary and critical appraisal of the thinking that currently informs the management of business relationships, from the perspectives of both the buyer and supplier. The authors argue that these approaches are one-dimensional and instead recommend a more holistic approach based on power, interaction and portfolio perspectives. The book provides evidence of how relationships can be aligned and misaligned in practice, using eighteen examples drawn from a variety of business cases and circumstances.

Book Description
This volume contains a collection of surveys of the most important issues in formal - both theoretical and applied - analysis of sustainable development. Although the literature on the various aspects of sustainable development is very large, a systematic account of modelling of sustainable development - of which there are already many examples available - is largely lacking. This book contains sixteen contributions grouped under four headings: `Theoretical Approaches', `Empirical Testing and Delinking', `Measurement and Implementation', and `Policy and the International Dimension'.
From a modelling perspective, the problem of growth, trade and sustainability requires some kind of integration of theories and models on international trade, location theory, international policy coordination, economic growth and development, and resource and ecological processes. The general lesson emanating from this book is that we need to go beyond partial approaches.
Customer Reviews:
I was warned, but I was stupid and bought it anyway.......2006-11-15
I am the biggest Jimmy Page fan in the whole world, bar none, and thought that there was no way a book purporting to be about Jimmy could be THAT bad. Boy, was I wrong! This poor little author knows nothing about Jimmy Page other than things already published by real, knowledgeable authors. She evidently took this information, threw it into an iPod Shuffle for sentences and then had the result printed. It is also obvious that this book was not edited by anyone. Ever. This book is only for those interested in E-Network-type gossip (the names and birthdates of Jimmy's children and exes) and the author's personal opinions about Jimmy's physical appearance in the 1980s during his addiction to heroin. (She didn't care for the way he looked and continually bemoaned the fact that if he would have just eaten nutritious meals and quit chain-smoking he would have looked better. No, I am not making this up.) You can only be a fan of this book if you enjoy thesaurus-aided descriptions of Delta blues, British musicians and Robert Plant's hair. Also included are the author's reminiscences of her attendance at concerts by Deep Purple, her 6-week trip to England (which she hints gave her insight into the real Jimmy Page - I know, I'm rolling my eyes, too), the fact that while she didn't think Jimmy was pretty while on drugs, she herself is quite a looker (the words, "my pretty little face" are in there somewhere) and every comma ever misplaced by any author since the dawn of time. I bought it used and only paid a little over four bucks for it and wish I had used the money for an artery-clogging Big Mac instead. If you're a fan of Jimmy Page and his work, RUN from this horrible, horrible book! Jimmy, I'm sorry I bought it! Please forgive me!
At the risk of sounding too critical..........2005-05-09
...I have to implore that fans of Jimmy Page, especially all you die-hard must-have collectors of Zeppelin/Page memorabilia like myself, avoid buying this book at any price! Juliann White's writing is so abysmal from start to finish, and the bewildering lack of editing so galling and obvious, that I actually felt embarrassed as I struggled to turn to another page of her subpar prose. One may feel the urge to add to their Page/Zeppelin collection like I mistakenly did, but cast that urge to the winds of doom and give this book no quarter.
Do not buy this book!!!.......2004-12-13
The author has written an extremely unreadable book.Save your money for anything written by Chris Welch or Ritchie Yorke.Way better read. This lady is not an author, just a fan with really bad vocabulary.DO NOT BUY THIS BOOK!!!
This is a great book!!!.......2004-07-01
I have no idea what all these other people who reviewed this book are complaining about. I loved it! The subjects do get juggled around in a chapter a bit. But it's full of information about Jimmy I didn't know. It tells about Jimena, their three kids, and Jimmy's ex's. I have never read any of that anywhere else, and I have read every book that has come out about Jimmy Page. I would recommend this book highly to any Jimmy Page fan! I would never even think of throwing it out!! And shame on all you people who only gave this book 1 star! You should be ashamed of yourselves!
DO NOT BUY THIS BOOK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.......2003-10-05
The author of this book,Juliann White, cannot be far out of grammar school. Her use of the name "Jimmy Page" is to put it mildly, excessive. We know who the book is about.I would strongly suggest to the publisher of this book to fire the editor.Maybe him and the author edited this book over a few drinks. This is the worst written book that I have ever read. Please save your money, buy Howard Mylett's book.Trust me,I am a Jimmy fan and this book is terrible!!!!!!!!!!!The only reason I gave this one star is because the scale won't go any lower.
