As millions of other novice investors, I lost substantial amounts of money because I "confused the bull market with brains"

In Dec 2002, I decided to get back into the market, taking advantage of the low prices. But I still didn't have a clue how to pick stocks, especially in unfamiliar industries. Surely, this time I would not wait until stock picks were discussed at parties.

This book was right on target. I feel much more confident in my abilities to research and manage a portfolio than ever before.

When it came to purchasing stocks, I've relied on my broker in making most purchasing decisions, who, as I learned later, followed the recommendations issued by analysts. After reading this book, I've looked at the recommendation history of some of the stocks I've owed and determined that, had I read this book a few years ago, I'd be a much happier, not to mention wealthier, investor today. Even in today's market, the strategies discussed in this book offer a solid foundation for any investor as well as a comprehensive look at the world of stock recommendations.

They can say its a new edition or its been updated, but the fact is that this particular outsourcing book is best borrowed.

We researched many books on the subject and this one has been around for awhile. Its basically one chapter reproduced several times for different departments but the insight is far from ground breaking. I advise you look at the current leaders in outsourcing book sales and get some newer information and innovative ideas.

On a positive note, if you have never had any exposure to outsourcing before, this book may meet your needs.

If You Read One Chapter, You've Read the Whole Book.......2005-05-13

Bragg changes the service line name but the content stays the same in chapter after chapter. I recommend you look very carefully at this book before you spend the money. Over half the book is the same information with small changes, chapter by chapter. More current info is available on the internet.

Absolutely worthless book. An attempt to make a guide for all possible outsourcing situations -and as a result it gives few ideas and nothing really useful.

A Very Topical Subject - Outsourcing.......2001-01-04

This is a great book to understand Outsourcing, why you need it, when you need it and how to do it successfully. The book guides you through;

(1) The Advantages and Disadvantages of Outsourcing. (The basic rationale of the decision) (2) Contract-specific issues. (Legal, strategic impact, etc) (3) Transition issues. (Employment contracts, timelines, personnel) (4) Creating Control Points. (So you know what's going on) (5) Measuring the outsourced function. (Milestone events and performance tracking) (6) Managing the outsourced function. (Show optimal management type for every function) (7) Potential customer service issues. (Also applies to Internal Customers, the employees) (8) Getting out of the outsourcing arrangement. (You need to put it in the contract)

Interestingly enough, every function can be outsourced, either partially or completely. (Yes, even YOUR job!). Take a proactive approach. Buy the book, absorb the knowledge and be part of the solution rather than the problem. In addition to being an excellent author, Mr. Bragg "walks the talk". He's not an academician telling us how things could be but rather an experienced professional who understands how things work in the real world. A rare talent. You need this book. Rated A+++

We ordered this book, new. It is basically a listing of names and addresses. No real info on each foundation. For the extra $30ish dollars - go with a real foundation guide that shows past donors, etc. Compared to other guides, this book was a "phone book" listing.

Extremely detailed book--Find a grant for any Non-Profit.......2001-08-25

If you can't find at least one grant that you meet the requirements for in this book, you didn't look at the book at all! The subject index is indespensible in narrowing down the grants. I was looking for grants for our local Humane Society, so I looked up "Animal". I found listings for twenty-eight grants geared toward Animal Care and Animal Rights. I looked up each grant by it's Accession number, read the details of the grant and narrowed it down to eight that I could submit to, add that to the seven general "Non-Profits" and I've got detailed information on fifteen grants, all in the matter of one evening of looking through this very detailed book. Listings for each grant include all contact information, web site addresses if available, email addresses and requirements/restrictions. You've heard of "How-To's", well this book is a "Where-To"!

Like I said in the review title, this book (it's the 2000 edition) isn't the freshest off the press. However, much of the information remains the same from one year to the next; this should really be considered a reference book. This is a good book to have on hand for nonprofits.
