It doesn't feel like the author has practical experience in small-cap investing (he's a professor), and a lot of material is just theory. Too much time is spent on the history and controversy of small-cap performance. The figures and diagrams are crude and at times hard to interpret. The facts may not be out of date, but the presentation is.

My pen name is Big Al. I am also the writer of this book. When you self - publish a book if you don't review and promote it, then no one will. Which is what I am doing now. I have read dozens of investment books and they all ignore the almost unknown world of small-cap and micro-cap investing. Not to mention my specialty of penny mining stock investing. And yet this is precisely the world where the small investor of limited means can make a killing. Once you make your first killing in my world you will be in it for life. Just like I am. Let me introduce you to my world. A world where you can make a killing on a chump-change investment.
The most exciting thing about my world is that anyone can afford to enter it. You can become a player for an investment as low as $500.

Whether you are a beginner or an experienced investor this book is a must read. The stock market can be very complicated, but Fred's forty years of knowledge and experience gives you the insight needed to invest correctly and make big returns on your money. The book is easy to read, a mixture of intellgent writing with humorus anecdotes. I highly recommend this book!

        Book Description

Morality and the Market is a business ethics anthology unlike any other. The book covers the foundations of markets, their operations, and their effects by incorporating most traditional business ethics topics while introducing new ones as well. The result is a text with genuine diversity of opinion, philosophical depth, and breadth of topic, accompanied throughout by a knowledgeable and sympathetic account of the traditional issues in business ethics.

Morality and the Market places special and distinctive emphasis on virtue and its applicability to the contexts of commerce. Each of the traditional topics of business ethics is related to particular virtues. For example, the virtue of honesty is related to advertising and sales; integrity is related to whistle-blowing; social responsibility is related to business profit; and courage is related to entrepreneurship. Morality and the Market explores the moral foundations of markets, their moral consequences, and considers the effects of commerce on the arts, culture, the environment, and technological progress.

          Book Description

Before the collapse of the Eastern Bloc, private marketeering was regarded not only as criminal, but even immoral by socialist regimes. Ten years after taking on board western market-orientated shock therapy, post-socialist societies are still struggling to come to terms with the clash between these deeply engrained moralities and the daily pressures to sell and consume.

This book explores the new market and its resulting contradictions in a rapidly developing Eastern Europe and Russia. Will Western fast-food industries irrevocably alter local culinary practices? What effect has the privatization of land had upon ownership and exchange? What role do new commodities play within the household? Based on original, first-hand ethnography, this book is a long-awaited addition to existing literature on post-socialist societies. It will be essential reading for students of anthropology, sociology, European and cultural studies, as well as professional groups working in Eastern Europe and Russia, including NGOs, development organizations and businesses.

            Book Description

In this book, Tibor Machan and his contributors examine some of the special ethical dimensions of work. They offer some controversial alternatives to conventional ways of understanding the labor market. Their proposals take a fiercely individualistic viewpoint toward many sacred cows, ultimately calling for a conceptual and actual merging of labor and management—ending centuries of pseudo conflict and thus any need for a Department of Labor and national right-to-work legislation.

The contributors present their controversial views on a full spectrum of work-related issues. They suggest that the minimum wage, subsidies, and price support measures violate freedom of choice for all traders in a free society. They reveal mandated employee benefits to be unfortunate labor market restrictions that actually harm workers and undermine the morality of the labor market. And they show how policies set by federal agencies such as the Food and Drug Administration violate basic property and other individual rights and create a "drug lag" between different markets—as for instance, in the United States and Canada.

Morality and Work dares to question why the right to organize and join labor unions should be one of the basic rights of workers, as well as what is the true purpose of government licensing—which allows vested interests to be favored, with some professions gaining, and others failing to gain, "lawfulness." Employment legislation that diminishes the freedom and responsibility of individuals to make decisions regarding their own welfare is held to be morally questionable. Morality and Work confronts these and other issues with a bold, candid approach that is sometimes unsettling but always thought-provoking.

            From the back cover:

            She was a fraud...

That's what Zach Burkett thought when he caught sight of Miss Morality Brown testifying at a town revival meeting. A deliciously enticing fraud who would be the perfect cover for his scheme to pay back the "godly" folk of Cottonwood Creek for their cruel betrayal. But Zach was wrong: far from being a con, the nearly irresistable angel was a geniune innocent. And only after he'd shamelessly tempted her to passion would he discover he'd endangered his own vengeful heart...

He was the answer to her prayers...

That's what Morality Brown thought when she gazed up into Zach Burkett's wicked blue eyes. It hardly mattered that the slow-drawling, smooth-talking rogue was a self-confessed sinner, or that she sensed a hidden purpose behind his charm. In his arms, she found the heaven she'd always longed for. But all too soon she'd discover the terrible truth about the man who'd stolen her heart. Scarred by the past, he lives for revenge--and it will take a miracle of love to save his soul...

            And my review:

I didn't expect to like this book, as I'd been thoroughly bored by another of this author's books, 'The Bad Luck Wedding Cake'. Still, as this book was on sale for only 50 cents, I decided to give this author another try.

And I was pleasantly surprised. While this wasn't a can't-put-it-down book, it was still very entertaining. Looking at the front cover, I thought that this might be another of those "sheltered woman who turns into a slut" book, but it wasn't. There was no anticipations of the wedding night. All of the sex between the hero and heroine was within the bonds of matrimony, which I really liked. This book had interesting historical detail, intrigue, plot twists (some of which had me gasping out loud), action, and a fairly enjoyable romance.

My only complaint with this book was that the hero wasn't as likeable as he could have been. He lied to the heroine almost constantly, which really took away from my enjoyment of the book. Plus, considering the extremely strong way Morality felt about lying, I found her easy acceptance of many of her husband's lies (like how he'd basically forced her into marriage) to be a bit unbelievable.

Still, this was still an enjoyable romance, even if it wasn't a keeper. I would probably read more of this author's books in the future, as this one restored my faith in her to write an entertaining read.

5 out of 5 stars EXCELLENT - ACTION PACKED ROMANCE.......2005-10-06

Finally, something for everyone. Action [mild] mystery [realistic kind] Romance [of the moral kind]with a touch of the naughty [which is always the basis of chaos].

Yup, Zack, the "Burkett Bastard" has returned to Cottonwood Creek, Texas 1860 with revenge in his heart.
Oh yeah, he found the right person through which to work his scheme, Reverend Harrison. What was the mystery of the morning-glory seeds?

Ah, but to gain credability he needed the support of Morality Brown, the "Miracle girl". Her seduction was uppermost in his mind.
I had to laugh at her niavity when Uncle Reverend declared himself as her prospective groom. She is too full of goodness to recognize the evil of men.

Little Patrick Callahan was adopted by Morality and it was her job to see that he faced the straight and narrow. He figures nicely into the scheme of things.

Wiley Zach had a weather helped plan to convince Morality to elope. He also has a meeting with the son of the railroad magnet.
When they arrive at Gallagher's Tavern and Traveler's Inn, we meet Dan Gallagher, a man about Zach's age and his nephew, Johnny Kincaid, the oldest son of Branch Kincaid and Katie Starr, of THE TEXAN'S BRIDE.
I loved the reminder of how Katie slapped Branch with two dead squirrels.

Well one thing lead to another with Morality not on speaking terms with her new husband. Somehow I think love stepped in to plant its seed.
The story keeps up a wonderful pace with Zack laying down the trail to destroy the Burketts and the town of Cottonwood Creek.
Joshua and his wife Louise Burkett took in the Reverend and Morality with Patrick for the length of the tent revival. Was this just a herring to fool people?

And we are allowed a glimmer of the past when Morality remembered a little girl called Lilah waiting for the return of her mother.

Don't be looking for the trashy morals written into many frontier stories but a strong passionate fight against the evils of the time. Forgivness, emotional and mental growth and loving family bonds. [almost] and a great tornado!

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED - Another keeper along with The Texan's Bride #1 of this set.

We are heirs to three approaches to the problem of order developed in the seventeenth century: science, the state, and the market. Busch uses the works of Bacon, Hobbes, and Adam Smith as Weberian ideal types. Each attempted to describe, to predict, and to prescribe a solution. Different as they were, each proposed a solution that relieved people of most moral responsibility and assigned it to an extrahuman force: God's hand as revealed through the method of science, the visible hand of the state, or the invisible hand of the market.

Using historical examples drawn from the last two centuries, Busch shows how the ideas initially proposed by these thinkers became reified as scientism, statism, and marketism -- systems of belief that single mode of ordering could solve the riddle of society. No single, unique ordering is possible or necessary, the author argues, since individuals and society are both the outcomes of social processes. Democracy must be expanded by building networks that extend it beyond the political realm to all institutions. Busch ends by providing concrete examples of successful attempts to extend democracy, to create multiple orderings, thereby putting moral responsibility neither on the shoulders of individuals, where it becomes crushingly heavy, nor on society, where it becomes unbearably light.

                          Book Description

Local nonprofit organizations are often small, loosely structured, and democratically governed, and therefore do not fit conveniently into traditional theories of organizational behavior that are rooted in administrative science and bureaucratic structure. Treating community organizations as parts of larger systems--organizational fields or ecologies and communities--this collection of papers presents various perspectives on local nonprofit organizations from the standpoint of organizational theory. The essays draw on an array of methods and theoretical approaches taken from population ecology theories of organizations, laying the foundation for the structural analysis of community organizations.

This little book is nice to have for little snippets into the mind of Beethoven. There are several biographies of the great artist; but this little book provides Beethoven's writings on things like God, Nature, Art, etc. that give the reader things to consider. It's great to pick up for an inspiration, light reading, or even daily thought.

                                                Book Description

WITH A NAME LIKE TUCHMACHER... starts at the beginning of the century when the author's grandparents came to America to escape eastern Europe and partake in the American dream of a better life. In just one generation LILA SNOW and her husband GEORGE A. SNOW went from immigrant families living in Brooklyn and the Bronx to the international life of physics, academia and the art world. The sharp contrast in different cultures is brought into focus by the keen eye and humor of the author.
