Another peek into Moose County life.......2007-10-07

In addition to the recipes, the reader is treated to snippets of dialogue along the way. I like the idea of identifying the volume in which the recipe appears. It helps me remember some of the action of the particular story. I've got my volume tagged with lots of "try this" notations. "Melinda's Minties" disappeared quickly when I took a batch to work...and it really wasn't put together the way the directions were given. I've got a couple of cookie recipes waiting in the wings that I might use for cookie exchanges. One of them employs potato chips! This is a neat book to have, particularly if you like the Koko and YumYum books.

fun for series fans.......2006-10-04

What a Fun Cookbook!.......2007-04-17

If you're a fan of "The Cat Who..." book series, you will find the cookbook really enjoyable. I've read only five of the books, yet feel like I know the people, the cats, the shops, restaurants, etc. like it's my own community.

Recipes are taken from the 28 "The Cat Who..." books. Each cookbook chapter is from one of those books. And lines from the book are interlaced with the recipes, "I cannot tell a lie," Qwilleran said. "I had dessert, but I'm willing to overlook that fact and apply myself to apricot squares."(followed by the Apricot Squares recipe). I found this especially delightful.

I like this cookbook's design as much as the recipes.

The Cat Who...:Cookbook iw wonderful.......2004-09-12

If you are a fan of these books and love to cook, you WILL love this book. Although you'll have to modify recipes for health (sub condensed skim milk for heavy cream, etc), the recipes are so yummy and PERFECTLY reflect the style and character of the books! There are snippets from the books leading into the recipes, and often entire meals ordered by Quilleran or Polly or whoever are in this cookbook. This endeavor was VERY well done.

The Cat Who...Loved to Eat!.......2003-06-20

This cookbook is a compilation of recipes from "The Cat Who..." mystery series written by Lilian Jackson Braun. All of Qwill's favorites are listed (even KoKo's favorites are included) along with a short passage from the book in which the dish appeared. There are over 200 recipes in the book, and each offers ingredients attainable in most areas. However, cooks that struggle in the kitchen may find some of the recipes intimidating. Fans of the series will love taking a walk down memory lane through this book, even if they cannot make all of the dishes.

I am a huge fan of Lilian Jackson Braun and was delighted to see that there was a cookbook available for many of the dishes she wrote about in her books. I found it to be fun to remember the meals that Qwill ate throughout each book, and I especially liked that the authors included passages from the appropriate book with each recipe. If you are a fan of the series, or if you like to cook, then this is the book for you. Enjoy!

Meowingly Tasty Recipes.......2003-02-06

"Pompously Qwilleran said, "I cannot tell a lie. I picked the lock of the library closet. There are tons of papers in there...There was also a recipe for Lena's angel food cake with chocolate frosting that sounded delicious."

Cat Who....Cookbook contains delicious meals to meow about. The menus were inspired by Lilian Jackson Braun's beloved cat mysteries. Just look for the paw prints and you will know you have the right book! I first read her books while on a weekend vacation and found them to be amusing.

If you are a fan of "The Cat Who" series, you will love this book. Cookbook collectors will also love reading instead of cooking. The authors are college professors who have also had their recipes featured in the Atlanta Journal. When they are not editing cookbooks or offering cooking workshops, they have "Cat Who" parties, which featured dishes inspired by the mystery series.

Chicken in a Dark and Mysterious Sauce sounds good to me. Now, my two cats always know when I am cooking chicken. They stand around looking up at me with those sad little kitty eyes and beg for a piece of chicken.

I think your cats would love it if you cooked them dinner. After all, cats give us so much love. Why not cook up a meal for yourself and a treat for your furry feline friends to some freshly cooked chicken.

This is a one-of-a-kind cookbook which brings together appetizing meals out of the pages of the novels and features a "feline fare" section. This book is 342 pages and contains 200 recipes inspired by the events in the mystery books.
