Incredible resource.......2007-01-17
The Beneficiary Book is an icredible resource for organizing one's estate. It is well-designed and easy to use. And, it seems to cover all of the bases, so you don't have to rack your brain to figure out what you've forgotten! I also really like the hardcover looseleaf format, as it's easy to pull a page out, fill it in, and replace it. Well worth the cost.
EXCELLENT BOOK!.......2001-08-10
A wonderful tool. This book has helped my family more than I can say. I highly recomend it.
A reader from Illinois.......2000-05-13
I bought this guide for myself, then my mother was diagnosed with cancer and passed away within seven months. The workbook pages really helped me to know what questions to bring up with her. It saved a lot of time and aggravation after she passed away when I wasn't emotionally able to handle tough decisions. There are so many extra tips in this workbook; it is helpful even if you are going on vacation and someone needs to housesit. This workbook is helpful if you're 25 or 75. I highly recommend it.
organized approach to help in emergency situations.......1999-03-26
When my husband died he left me a three-ring notebook which we had labled the emergency book as it contained all the pertinent information about our financial, insurance, tax, etc. situations including the location of necessary documents such as wills to help settle the estate. This book is comparable and would help anyone become better organized to deal with daily and unexpected situations. With the three ring capability pages can be added that would personalize it to your special needs. sms

Book Description
The march to Baghdad, Iraq in 2003 was a military operation like no other. High tech weapons and old fashioned Marine infantry combined to lead coalition forces to victory in twenty-one days. Returning Son is the story of Private Sean Cassedy, a cyberspace generation warrior, coming from a tiny Kentucky town with the unlikely name of Bagdad. Son is war from the eyes of a grunt as well as the emotional war for loved ones back home. Sean left for Marine boot camp one week to the day after the tragedy of September 11th. He survived boot camp's ultimate test--the Crucible--only to be tested in the crucible of his own court-martial. During Operation Iraqi Freedom both of Sean's legs were crushed in a fog of war accident within a hundred miles of Baghdad. As one of Kentucky's first injured veterans, Sean's homecoming was as inspirational as his father's homecoming from Vietnam was depressing.

Very enlightening about military life, then & now!.......2004-11-28
This is a wonderfully written book! It will touch you emotionally while it educates you about the things our military men & women are facing today. The author also takes you back to a time in the past when our military had no support from home. The "returning son" shows us that marines & soldiers are not always kids who couldn't do much else, he's an intelligent young man that could have done anything and yet he CHOSE to serve his country. This book will enlighten you about what it feels like to have a family member serving. It's a good read for men, women & teenagers.
Returning Son.......2004-11-28
I am reading this book! How wonderful to see a book written with true facts of the life of the Military. Everyone in America should read this so they can fully appreciate what the troops go through for America. I recomend this book to everyone I see. It is a book of the times and struggles of Pure American Family. A Must Read!
Extremely Captivating.......2004-11-01
I am impressed. Returning Son is one book I could not put down. It is about what is happing TODAY! The real world, not fiction. It is a book that positively pulls you in to the story and puts you right there. Returning Son involves everyone. Those who have been in the military, or those who know someone in the military. Even those who just have an interest in the war in Iraq. The author gives you insite on what is really going on in boot camp and then in Iraq. The hell, frustration and family ties. It's about TODAY. A book like no other.
3 questions to ask your children are revealed in this book.........2004-10-30
Returning Son is colorfully written and so highly detailed that you are pulled into the Cassedy's lives as if you are part of the family, feeling every emotion. Returning Son teaches us the value of strong family foundations and the importance of interaction with our children as parents. This is a magnificent story about an average American family and their struggles to survive. This is a story about extraordinary parents that ask their children to mold their futures by answering 3 important questions. This is absolutely a 5 star book that should be read by all, especially to find out the 3 questions.
Book Description
Called "Her Majesty" because of her resemblance to Queen Victoria and known as "the measuring woman" among the Indians whose land allotments she administered, Alice Fletcher (1838-1923) commanded respect from both friend and foe. She was the foremost woman anthropologist in the United States in the nineteenth century and instrumental in the adoption of the policy of severalty that dominated Indian affairs in the 1880s. This is the full and intimate story of a woman who, as she grew in understanding of Indian ways, came to recognize that she was the one who was alien, a stranger in her native land.
Joan Mark recreates the long and active life of Alice Fletcher from diaries, correspondence, and other records, placing her achievements for the first time in a feminist perspective. Sustained by a sense of mission. Alice Fletcher challenged her society's definition of what women could be and do.
Customer Reviews:
I am grateful for this book.......2006-07-26
I am always grateful to find "yet one more" dynamic 19th century woman raised up. And this book, with its fascinating perspective of Indian life and policy toward the Indians - so valuable - is an important addition to "the canon". I wish I'd found this book earlier. It is well written and makes for thoughtful reading.
Mary Sheeran, author of "Who Have the Power: a legend of the west"
Women's history for all.......2001-10-19
Alice Fletcher was a woman of many interests and talents. As one of the first woman anthropologists in the U.S., she spent many years working with, studying and advocating for Native American tribes. This book is an interesting study of her life and the times in which she lived. A really interesting read.

These challenges differ tremendously from the profit-driven requirements of the corporate world, and are even greater when budgets are tighter. This comprehensive guide to managing in the nonprofit sector is a twofold resource. The first part is a user-friendly textbook examining what is involved in producing mission-driven goods and services, how to manage the relationships of nonprofits with the private and public sectors, and how to operate in both external and internal environments. Six case studies and end-of-chapter reviews facilitate learning in this expanding field. The second part is a practitioner's ready-reference handbook, complete with survival tips and action items.

Pie in the Sky Real Estate Guru Nonsense.......2006-09-28
Any body who really believes this title and hype, needs to wake up and smell the coffee of real estate business reality. It is the typical fare of the self-appointed guru who got out of real estate because he found he was a better entertainer than a Realtor. He and his wife, create get rich quick and easy seminars from Austin, TX to Australia. I attended one myself as well as read this book which was distributed for FREE. And that is what it is worth in my opinion.
OUTSTANDING, easy, simple and effective read NOT JUST for Real Estate Agents!.......2005-09-27
This book is way more than just an expose' about the real estate business-- it's also about creating leverage, using easy and detailed, step-by-step methods that will literally walk you through creating and building wealth WHILE having the life that you design!
One of my favorite distinctions that this book makes is that a business has TWO main purposes:
Purpose Number 1. Obviously, to provide solutions while adding value to your clients/customers. HOWEVER, the 2nd purpose is one most business owners do NOT consider (until it's too late)...
Purpose Number 2. (try guessing first and then see ANSWER below)
If you are serious about your business, BUY THIS BOOK! Wayne and Lynne (both brokers) have spent years in the real estate industry (building a multi-million dollar real estate portfolio) and unlike lots of other financial gurus, they actually still USE what they are teaching in their own lives (and businesses) TODAY! Proof positive that the strategies and ideas in this book work.
Even if you are only thinking about getting into real estate, this is a real gem as it provides real keys and tools that will help you in ANY business! I'm taking the concepts and applying them in my business and I'm already noticing positive changes!
Plus, this book is SIMPLE, well written and FUN to read (I'm usually not a very fast reader and I read all but the last chapter in one night).
(ANSWER: the 2nd purpose of your business is to give you the life you desire!)
Extremely Helpful Info--> Realtors need to read this!.......2005-07-17
I've been in the real estate business for the last 8 years, and recently "cracked the code" for doing it right...and I wish I had this excellent book in my hands many years ago to save a lot of time, effort and money! If you're a mega-producer, get this book because you'll pick up several gems. If you're a new agent, you NEED to get this to avoid becoming a statistic of the industry. The section on the emotional highs and lows of the new agents is worth many times the cost of this book. Thanks for the great book, Wayne!
INDISPENSABLE!.......2005-06-07
This should be required reading for any person considering a field in the real estate industry. With an almost irreverant style, Wayne and Lynn Morgan explain clearly and simply how to have the best of both worlds - time and money. It doesn't matter whether you are a newly licensed realtor or a broker with 25 years of experience, the material in this book is sure to make a difference in your real estate business. The best part about it is that the book is actually fun to read!

Book Description
The men and women represented in this book had the extraordinary opportunity of witnessing the end of a 200-year struggle for freedom: the Civil War. Gathered here are the stirring testimonies of many African Americans including slaves who endured their last years of servitude before escaping from their masters, soldiers who fought for the freedom of their brethren and for equal rights, and reporters who covered the defeat of their oppressors. These African American voices include the great abolitionist Frederick Douglass on the meaning of the war; Martin R. Delany on his meeting with Lincoln to gain permission to raise an army of African Americans; Susie King Taylor on her life as laundress and nurse to a Union regiment in the deep South; Elizabeth Keckley, Mary Todd Lincoln’s seamstress, on Abraham Lincoln’s journey to Richmond after its fall; Elijah P. Marrs on rising from slave to Union sergeant while fighting for his freedom in Kentucky; and letters from black soldiers to black newspapers. Each testimony is presented unabridged, allowing the full flavor of these voices to be heard, and each is supplemented with introductions and notes that provide rich context.

Book Description
Plutarch (Plutarchus), ca. 45-120
CE, was born at Chaeronea in Boeotia in central Greece, studied philosophy at Athens, and, after coming to Rome as a teacher in philosophy, was given consular rank by the emperor Trajan and a procuratorship in Greece by Hadrian. He was married and the father of one daughter and four sons. He appears as a man of kindly character and independent thought, studious and learned.
Plutarch wrote on many subjects. Most popular have always been the 46 Parallel Lives, biographies planned to be ethical examples in pairs (in each pair, one Greek figure and one similar Roman), though the last four lives are single. All are invaluable sources of our knowledge of the lives and characters of Greek and Roman statesmen, soldiers and orators. Plutarch's many other varied extant works, about 60 in number, are known as Moralia or Moral Essays. They are of high literary value, besides being of great use to people interested in philosophy, ethics and religion.
The Loeb Classical Library edition of the Lives is in eleven volumes.

Customer Reviews:
An Absorbing Read.......2007-07-06
Jean-Claude gives a well balanced account of the life and times of Josephine Baker. With unabashed frankness he describes her sexual escapades and decadent appetites, her manipulative and cunning business dealings, and her unbelievable selfishness. This biography paints a very clear picture of the woman who gave definition to the term "diva." Her demands of those who handled her and worked for her would go beyond unreasonable. For instance, she would borrow enormous sums of money from friends and would never pay them back, and would then call on them again for more favors as if she had never defrauded them. There was no request too outrageous for this woman to make. Realizing that her family in St. Louis was suffering the horrendous racial atrocities of America, she brought them to her home in France only to use them to work for her on her estate. At one point she disowned her brother because he would not allow her to adopt his child and raise it as her own. She would work her nurses, her maids, and the children's tutors so hard that the turnover became virtually unmanageable. Her maids would work extremely long hours, and as a result her employees became disgruntled and would often steal from her. She used men like one would use Kleenex. She brazenly carried on affairs with married men, some of whom were husbands of friends and fellow-entertainers. She engaged in enumerable sexual affairs (and orgies) with both men and women. Wild goings-on aside, she was a consummate entertainer--constantly reinventing herself and giving herself completely to her audience. In an era when black performers suffered atrocious injustices, she persevered. She'd encountered terrible racism in many cities (especially when she returned to America), so much so that she was turned away from so many hotels that she had to stay with friends while under contract to perform. While not a tell-all tabloid type expose (thankfully), Jean-Claude Baker delivers a thorough account of the life of one of the world's most exciting and enduring icons. If you are a fan of historical figures and of biographies, this one is a must read.
A fond, passionate portrait of a hard-to-pin-down woman.......2003-09-01
Josephine Baker was enigmatic during her lifetime and even more so after her death. A chanteuse, a sex symbol, the mother of 12 adopted children, French Resistance heroine, Baker reinvented herself as often as necessary to stay at the top of her trade - whatever that trade was at any given moment. Jean-Claude Baker (one of her 'adopted' children) chronicles her life in this engaging biography with a mix of love, admiration, and incredulity. The lady had balls, and while not a tell-all book, The Hungry Heart does her ample justice.
Fantastique!.......2002-08-18
A perfectly balanced expose of this legendary and highly complex superstar: Amoral in extremis, manic and delusional, but blessed with indomitable human spirit. Excellent historical perspective throughout.
A beautifully written biography which does not succumb to the tawdry, despite its detailed narrative of Josephine Baker's pathologically decadent lifestyle.
Absolutely the best biography of J.B., bar none. A Must Read for Paris cabaret enthusiasts.
THE inside scoop on Miss Josephine.......2002-02-13
This is a biography of LaBaker written by one of her many adopted children. He gives the inside dish on his mom, including that both she and his adopter father were gay. He points out too that she did have some self-loathing issues regarding her race as well. This book has a great photo section. It helped me to see the ugly side of Josephine that wasn't fully presented in the great movie by HBO. I am not sure it is the best work out there, but it is a must-read for any Josephine fans and scholars. In addition, people that study Black Americans abroad or French naturalized citizens should read this.

Book Description
John Rollin Ridge is the first full-length biography of a Cherokee whose best revenge was in writing well. A cross between Lord Byron, the romantic poet who made things happen, and Joaquin Murieta, the legendary bandit he would immortalize, John Rollin Ridge was a controversial, celebrated, and self-cast exile.
Ridge was born to a prominent Cherokee Indian family in 1827, a tumultuous and violent time when the state of Georgia was trying to impose its sovereignty on the Cherokee Nation and whites were pressing against its borders. James W. Parins places Ridge in the circle of his family and recreates the circumstances surrounding the assassination of his father (before his eyes) and his grandfather and uncle by rival Cherokees, led by John Ross. Eventful chapters portray the boy’s flight with his mother and her family to Arkansas, his classical education there, his killing of a Ross loyalist and subsequent exile in California during the gold rush, his talent as a romantic poet and author, and his career as a journalist. To the end of his life, Ridge advocated the Cherokees’ assimilation into white society.
