Disappointed.......2006-11-27
I've never posted a negative review before but I was very disappointed in this book after reading the other reviews. It does cover the basics (eliminate debt, invest, have your own business) on very broad terms so perhaps might be useful as a primer if you haven't read much on personal finance before. But if you already know to do those things, I doubt you'll find much useful information here and you won't find much detailed guidance.
www.whoisjeffmills.com says, "Buy this Book Right Now!.......2006-10-17
Jim Guarino's book, "Get Real Money" is the "real deal".
How would you like to retire when you want to, instead of when the company dismisses you early, due to "buget concerns?"
Is increasing your income, so you can have financial freedom and prosperity to bless others important to you?
Then you need to read and consume every word in Jim's new book.
After Jim revealed to me his 7 minute secret, I began to handle my money in a different way. Jim's teachings in the book feel like a wise financial advisor, sitting down with me over a cup of coffee sharing wisdom and money insights that most people unfortunately will never know about.
There is a mix of real world foundational concepts to how you need to approach and view money and your finances, and also a balance of the "HOW." You'll know HOW to make more money and can apply the 7 ideas Jim mentions in his book in 7 short minutes a day and increase your wealth 10 fold.
Buy this book, even to just get all the bonuses. It will change your financial future.
Picks up where Charles Givens left off - Get this book, earn more and keep more.......2006-10-17
I was very skeptical when I read the title of this book. It sounded a little too hyped to me. But I started reading it and I was hooked.
In the 90's Charles Givens tax saving strategies and financial management strategies for small business ruled. He helped hundreds of thousands of businesses save millions of dollars.
Jim Guarino goes deeper.
This book shows you how to quickly and easily maximize your tax savings whether you own a business or not . . . and shows you how to create real money in today's economy no matter your current financial situation.
What is interesting is that he litereally does break his lessons down into things you can do in about 7 minutes a day. I've been implementing many of the ideas from this book successfully so far and mostly because they are easy to implement quickly. But I've discovered that they are cumulative and effective.
I strongly encourage any business owner, Entrepreneur or wage earner who wants to keep more of what they make, to get this book today. You'll save hundreds over what your accountant would tell you and frankly, most accountants won't give you the information in this book.
This is one of the best book investments you'll make this year.

Please take the time to carefully study these proven money strategies, because by arming yourself with this real-world, street-smart money knowledge, you avoid the financial pitfalls and can literally become as wealthy as you want to be.
It can help you create a winning financial future.......2006-10-17
If you are a successful financial professional then this book is probably not for you, but...
If you are looking to discover the strategies that will make you a winner in the financial game of life then this book is definitely for you.
Get Real! Money is broken down into 16 chapters that address our personal histories with money and the beliefs they create, old and new 'basic financial principles,' and then strategies you can use to win the money game.
Guarino addresses history and belief with four questions:
- Do I have beliefs or habits that are stealing my dreams?
- Do I let my emotions control my behaviors in negative ways, giving me results I don't want?
- Do I blame others for my situation only to keep myself stuck longer?
- Do I overreact to situations and become destructive to others and/or myself?
Financial planners used to preach about building a 3 legged stool for financial wealth built on social security/insurance, savings, and company pensions. This are old financial principles. Companies are phasing out, or killing entirely, pension programs. Our national savings rate is negative. Social security is a battleground about how long it will last and insurance companies are charging you more and providing you less. It's a broken system.
The new financial planning precepts include:
- Living longer
- Inflation
- Investment rate of return
- Unexpected events
The Get Real! Money Five Master Money Strategies help you build a financial independence game plan that creates new and different results.
Strategy 1: Personal Growth Strategy
Strategy 2: Tax Defense Strategy
Strategy 3: Investing Strategy
Strategy 4: Free Enterprise Strategy
Strategy 5: Real Estate Strategy
These strategies are then described in a way that helps you reinvent your thinking about money.
If you're still reading this review then you are probably a good candidate for this book. Buy it now and create a new financial future for yourself.

Old Reliable Indeed.......2006-02-23
I feel that this biography was good, but not great. It could have been a bit longer and shed more light on Hardee after the Civil War for one thing. But overall I think the biography did a "reliable" job. Hardee's impressive Civil War career was handled very well I thought. Hughes focuses almost entirely on this and you can't help but wonder what might have happened if Hardee had been placed in command of the Army of Tennessee instead of Hood.........or if Hardee had accepted permanant command after Bragg resigned. When I think of Hardee I think of Longstreet, both seemed to be the good reliable corps commanders that could be counted on in their respected armies, but neither were able to reach the level of a Jackson, Thomas, or Hancock as corps commanders.
A biography just like "Old Reliable" himself.......1998-01-05
Hughes' biography of Hardee is not unlike its subject: competent, professional, and unspectacular. The focus is appropriately on Hardee's Civil War career. The post-war years receive especially light treatment. Hughes does an excellent job of assessing Hardee's performance during each campaign and battle. To his great credit, he is more inclined than most biographers to be critical of his subject when warranted. Hardee's personality emerges less vividly from the book than we might wish. Perhaps this is due to a lack of insightful source material, or to the fact that Hardee himself lacked the charisma to be an ideal subject. Whatever the reason, you won't find Hardee particularly likeable or loathesome, but you will learn a lot about his role in the Civil War.

Essential, but not entirely up to date........2001-08-20
It's a great guide, I used it for my research and I wouldn't be able to proceed on it without this book. While using it, you must bear in mind that some of the entires are not bang up to date, so if you're not looking up details for a large number of people, you should only use it as a starting point to collect your data and then supplement it with internet searches.

Book Description
Chez Moi is a thoroughly researched guide that describes in great detail the administrative/practical steps you should take on your way to carefree home ownership in France. Laurence Raybois uncovers and deals with the many surprises and pitfalls of home ownership in France with precision and the kind of cultural insight that only a French person could have. Yet Chez Moi remains surprisingly readable and entertaining. Laurence Raybois skillfully weaves among the technical detail stories of uniquely French deeds and misdeeds in the pursuit of property.
The strengh of Chez Moi lies in its emphasis of processes that are uniquely French. The book thoroughly describes the roles that the various professionals, such as the huissier or the notaire, who do not have an exact equivalent in other countries, play in these processes. Even the real estate agent, whose function is well understood throughout the world, has rights, obligations and prerogatives that are markedly different in France from what they are in other countries.
Buying homeowners' insurance, obtaining a building permit, or transmitting your property to your heirs after your death, just to mention a few of the subjects covered, are explained from the perspective of the uniquely French rules that regulate them.
One thing is sure: If you had at any time assumed that buying and owning a home was pretty much the same everywhere, you are in for a big surprise each time you turn a page of Chez Moi: The Foreigner's Guide to Buying a Home in France.

just what was needed.......2007-03-26
this succinct volumn covers the title territory without falling off its subject. That the author is a native of France writing grant applications in Seattle must be the perfect preparation.
Great all-purpose reference.......2007-02-11
I bought this guide AFTER I had bought my house in France, and I still think it's a useful reference. Laurence Raybois covers the basics related to the purchase process, legalities, insurance, and remodeling/ renovations in one slim little volume. It's indespensible for anyone who needs to educate themselves about buying property in France.
Customer Reviews:
Pretty good book.......2001-06-06
This book has some good information for anyone considering purchasing a home in France. It's aimed more towards a U.K. citizen, versus a U.S. citizen, but I still found it helpful. Some of the info. applies only to purchases of 'flats' (apartments) and not houses, but he doesn't tell you that. I found out after asking for some of the documentation he mentions. I would recommend the book to anyone considering the purchase of a French property -- get it early so you do it right!
an absolute necessity..........1999-12-15
...if you're thinking about buying property in France. Hampshire is totally on target. I read his book before going through the buying process, and couldn't believe how perfectly his advice dovetailed with my actual experience.
All his information was exactly correct!.......1999-09-24
We JUST (September '99) bought an apartment in Paris, using this book as a daily reference. It helped us immensely, giving us confidence in many procedures from looking for a place initially to the closing, including geat information on insurance and utilities. Definitely a great source!
Book Description

Customer Reviews:
Disappointing content.......2007-02-13
Very disappointing book. If you are looking to buy in Hawaii AND a first time home buyer, then this is the book for you. However, if you've already been a homeowner, and looking to relocate or buy in Hawaii, this book was largely disappointing. I bought to understand the differences in Hawaii real estate including leaseholds. The title makes it sound like the whole book is about Hawaii real estate, but not so. Only about maybe 15 pages of the entire book dealt with this topic and not in detail at all. The entire rest of the book was just how to buy and sell a home in general, nothing to do with Hawaii. Again, great book if youre completely new to real estate, otherwise, dont bother.
I highly recommend How to Buy and Sell Your Home In Hawaii.......2006-09-18
This is the ONLY BOOK OF ITS KIND AVAILABLE. It contains comprehensive information and usable strategies for success in one of the most popular and pricey real estate markets in the world.
The author is a practicing real estate agent in Hawaii, offering extensive professional knowledge and long experience to Hawaii residents and newcomers alike.
The book is highly readable, amusingly written, teaches by example, and defines "jargon" in the rare cases it is used.
It is aimed at "real people," average and actual home buyers and sellers, but is a valuable tool for agents as well.
How to evaluate real property in what is effectively a "foreign country" is detailed, explicit and critically important to those who may not be familiar with it.
There is also detailed information on mortgage loans - and how they differ in Hawaii - especially useful to first-time buyers.
The chapter "Only in Hawaii" gives newcomers a big head start on what they need to know to get into the market successfully.
It could well be worth many thousands of times its price.
And it was also fun to read.
This is a good book!
Great info for home buyers and fellow realtors alike.......2006-02-27
I recommend this book for both regular folk looking to buy or sell property in Hawaii and to my fellow realtors. There are facts, tips and inof the "lay person" can use and there is info for the realtor to use as info to help those who ahven't read the book.
Borrow a copy and read before your clients do or give htem as clients gifts.

Chez Moi: The Foreigner's Guide to Buying a Home in France

Book Description
A complete guide to buying property in France, including where to find the perfect house and how to buy it.
Customer Reviews:
Comprehensive.......2006-07-18
One of many books on buying a house in France that I have bought since embarking on the road to home ownership in France. This one, like many, is written from a primarily British perspective, but it contains enough general information to make it a useful addition to your library. It has a particularly good section describing the various regions in France (and what a variety!) for those not yet decided where to settle.
informative for the right person.......2006-05-29
This book is written from a BRITISH perspective, so comparisons and examples of protocol won't make much sense to most Americans (myself included). There are, however, shorter sections relating to Americans moving to/living in France, so skip the parts that explain what EU citizens need to do and you'll probably find a paragraph about what you need to do. Some knowledge of architectural and/or building terms will be helpful, but is not entirely necessary.
Still, overall this is an informative and surprisingly enjoyable read.

The fortieth anniversary of the Eastman Wind Ensemble, founded in 1952 by Frederick Fennell, was celebrated with a series of concerts, conducting workshops and scholarly papers presented under the aegis of the American Sonneck Society. These papers are primary research into the areas of historical development of the wind band, repertoire analysis and performance practice; of particular interest to musicologists will be the essay on the underlying principles of the wind ensemble concept by Donald Hunsberger, the Eastman Wind Ensemble's conductor since 1965. There are also international reports on wind band history and development in England, Europe and Japan, and a complete discography of the Eastman Wind Ensemble.

Red Cloud was the only Native American leader ever to win a war against the United States Army. Here, for the first time in print, is Red Cloud's "as-told-to" autobiography in which he shares the story of his early years.
Customer Reviews:
Good Portrait of a Brave and Intelligent Warrior........2003-05-17
This is quick read, but well worth it. On occasion the editor lacks detail, but the content is very useful for anyone seeking a greater grasp of life as an Oglalas Sioux.
A valued mirror to the world of the culture, nation & man........2000-05-09
The story of the rediscovery of The Autobiography Of Red Cloud is told in the introduction. Though much edited, the narrative derives from talks between Red Cloud and Samuel Deon, an old trader friend, recounted to Charles Allen, contemporary postmaster at Pine Ridge. The Autobiography Of Red Cloud spans the life experiences of Red Cloud up to 1865-66, the time when the Oglala chose the war path against whites. Written in the third person and otherwise heavily edited, The Autobiography Of Red Cloud tells much of Oglala life and war practices prior to 1865. These reminiscences detail Red Cloud's experience in war with his Tribe's traditional enemies - Shoshones, Pawnees, Arikaras, Arapaho, and Crow. A vivid picture of Lakota plains life at the height of glory days emerges. The high regard for honorable battle with a worthy adversary, the daily and seasonal patterns and activities of the tribe and many daring exploits establish the foundation for Red Cloud's well deserved reputation as war leader. A picture of a shrewd, astute man with uncanny timing emerges. Also delineated like a war bonnet is the habit of command, not always easily held among the Lakota. Another of Red Cloud's demonstrated skills is the ability to analyze a natural setting and then use it to tactical advantage, as well as to predict the plans and moves of his enemy. The sometimes close relationship between enemy tribes is richly described or inferred. To read The Autobiography Of Red Cloud is to have some experience of that 200 plus year old life of the Plains Indians - hunting buffalo, riding and stealing horses, following the game in season, etc. that so briefly held full flower before white settlement took over. In the aftermath even today, it will be a valuable mirror to the world of the culture, the nation, and the man.
