in searching for a book that 1. specifically targeted the Pittsburgh area 2. had a reliable/trustworthy listing of prominent companies (instead of complining one myself), the Pittsburgh Job Bank fulfilled my demands exactly. the brief but extremely tip-filled and concise guide to job-seeking was a pleasant surprise and added value. the companies listing itself is neatly divided into primary industry segments. though my search for Mechanical Engineering-related companies was not precisely hit, the Automotive and Gas/Energy/Manufacturing industries were close and the listing of professional organizations in those fields closed in on my hunt. the listings also caused me to brainstorm about my choices into companies and areas i'd never have otherwise considered.

This book is not a biography in the traditional sense, through exploring Lee the author brings the reader into the world surrounding Lee. It is for this reason that this volume is valuable for individuals not only interested in Lee, but also the Civil War and the effect the war had on the individuals who lived through it as a civilian. This book is highly recommended by this reader.

Designed specifically for labor management advocates and their clients in the public sector, this book is a comprehensive yet practical guide to the arbitration of grievances in public employment. The authors, both experienced arbitrators themselves, offer step-by-step advice on the preparation and presentation of arbitration cases and provide a detailed description of effective grievance resolution through the effective use of the grievance procedure. Written in a style accessible to those without substantial academic training in labor relations law, the volume's purpose is to equip the practitioner to represent his or her respective constituents effectively in the private system of industrial jurisprudence. Although it focuses particularly on grievance administration and arbitration in state and local government, the concepts and techniques presented are equally appropriate for those working in the federal or private sectors. Following an introduction, the authors review various state bargaining statutes governing the arbitration of grievance disputes and look at the grievance process as a prelude to arbitration. They go on to examine the institution of arbitration, focusing primarily upon the administrative agencies, the arbitrators, and the legal environment within which labor relations advocates must work. Subsequent chapters treat procedural and evidential issues common to arbitration, the arbitration of discharge and disciplinary matters, contract interpretation issues, and the decision making of neutrals and what can or cannot reasonably be expected of arbitrators. In their conclusion, the authors make the case for rights arbitration as the preferred method of dispute resolution. You know your dealing with a book that's outdated when you read "Most first loans are made by savings and loans associations." No offense intended to the author but although many of the concepts are good, they are not well-explained or presented for beginners to easily understand. I only understood as much as I did because I am in the real estate industry. Better choices are out there.

The thing that struck me about the book was how much I enjoyed learning about the MAN. Jim Marshall is a first rate individual, and the definition of class. Oh, and the stuff about his amps is good, too. I don't even own a Marshall amp, but this book made me want one more than ever. Great book, thoroughly enjoyable.
