good review for corporations class. it is based on the model code, and sometimes DE. but if you need NY law, this book doesn't help that much. but the explanations are clear and interesting.

Excellent Guide for Corporate Taxation.......2007-06-19

This is an excellent book to understand Subchapter C. The order it follows is methodical. It goes to explain all the tax issues that arise from formation of the corporation (incorporation and contributions) to midlife events (dividends, redemptions) to liquidation. It deals with taxable and non-taxable reorganizations and with such interesting issues as Section 304 transactions. It is not and cannot be a complete guide to corporate taxation. it would have to be several volumes, but it accomplishes perfectly what it is meant to do. Cheryl Block did a fantastic job. the example and explanations are very useful.

Corporate Tax for Dummies.......2006-03-24

This volume reduces into terms capable of being readily absorbed the application of Subchapter C. The examples and explanations are basic while conveying the needed concepts of various treatments of contributed property, boot, distributions, attribution rules, etc.

Great study aid!.......2006-04-29

A agree with the previous comment, this book does have a strong MBCA focus but it does frequently reference Delaware law as well as occasionally some other states. This is an excellent study aid, I used to prepare for my corporations exam, but I wish I had been more diligent about reading it throughout the year as we were studying various subjects, no doubt my class would have made much more sense. Corporations has thus far been the most difficult law school course I"ve taken (partly due to my prof.) and this book was a life-saver. My only advice is not to wait to the last minute. Yes this book is a great summary of the course, but it's still very dense and nearly 700 pages long. It will take a good while to go through if you're really reading, outlining and trying to learn the material. I spent nearly all day for three full days just getting through this book. It was well worth the effort, but if I had to do it all over again, I would have kept up with the book during the course or started prepping a few weeks prior.

Solid Book, but with MBCA Focus.......2005-12-01

I write mainly to note that the book focuses almost exclusively on the Model Business Corporation Act, with only occasional references to Deleware or other state law. If your course has a similar focus, then this is a solid book that progresses well and lets you test you knowledge along the way. But if your class, like mine, focuses mainly on Deleware law, this book will prove significantly less useful. The book will often state something generic like, Some states allow X and others do not. But it rarely specifies which states have adopted which approach.

An excellent synopsis of Corporations law.......2000-06-28

I highly recommend this book. Solomon and Palmiter, following in the tradition of Glannon's Civil Procedure, make corporations law accessible.

Best Corporate Tax Review Book on the Market.......2004-11-20

Professor Block's book is really, really good - very easy to understand. She manages to make what are complex tax laws understandable -- I couldn't imagine taking my corp tax class without this study aid. The writing is unusually good for a law treatise.

Although I went to every class of Corp. Tax at the LL.M. level and read every assignment, things never came to me as clearly as they did after working with this book. Ms. Block does an excellent job of describing transactions and their tax consequences with intelligent simplicity and brings even the hardest concepts within the tax novice's grasp.

Corp. tax is one of the more difficult courses in Law School, but is highly recommended for anyone with an interest in transactional practice, or looking to improve their skills in using challenging statutory material. This book makes the subject a great deal easier---one of the better study aids I've used. The explanations are very lucid, and the problems are extremely helpful for exam prep. Keep this within arm's reach of your I.R.C.

Exile to Sweet Dixie, based on the research of the Goldsborough Collection, sheds light on some rarely explored aspects of women's Civil War history. Her corrrespondence with Confederate soldiers, prisoners, and their families is included, along with her Provost Marshal file in its entirety. This story is one of courage, endurance, and achievement. Euphemia Goldsborough exemplifies the Southern woman committed to the Confederacy and its people both during and after the war. Against great odds and risking all that was dear, Euphemia Goldsborough acted selflessly for convictions that many Americans still value today. Working for the greater good, accepting personal responsibility, adherence to beliefs, and helping those in need are, hopefully, held in timeless esteem.

Exile to Sweet Dixie is based on the research of the extensive Goldsborough collection. In addition to the chapters of her diaries and the hospital books, there are sections on her life, the political and military oppression under which she risked her service as nurse and smuggler, her Provost Marshal file with the documents used as evidence in her trial, and her personal papers that concerned her war activities. There are seven appendices of war related text written by her contemporaries effected by her service. Subsequent to the death of Goldsborough's granddaughter, the collection has been divided among family members and will almost certainly never be viewed as a whole or be accessible to the public. I chose to present this material as an annotated transcript of a valuable primary source. It is the drama of one woman's horrific war experiences; that of having a dying soldier tied to her back all night, being strip searched in front of the soldiers while imprisoned, and the emotional, physical, and mental toll of nursing and exile. I trust the reader to form their own perceptions and draw from it what they deem important to their particular interests.

Well what can i say? Kate Moss is by far my favourite supermodel of all time. Her beuaty and ability to change herself into someone else in every photo is amazing. Although some may say oh it's just photos , these photos are amazing and capture storylines and the early six years of her amazing career , a collaboration with photographers , stylist , make up artist etc. Kate Moss includes a witty introduction for the book ending it with a witty: p.s : i am just on my way out to dinner to eat a massive steak and loads of fattening potatoes , with loads of butter. What a brilliant ladies. The photos captured go from her early days to now - 1995. Theres also some baby pictures of Kate .. and from when she was 13 and stuff. Brilliant perfect and Kate Moss autographs it .. of course it is noly photocopied

FAN-tastic Book; Beware of Small Size .......2005-11-29

I originally bought "Kate" in the bookstore in its full-sized edition. I lost the book in a move, and bought a replacement online, only to discover that it was much smaller than the one I originally had. If you are looking for the full-sized version, make sure it is larger than the smaller one (smaller is 0.5 x 6.5 x 8.5 inches).

That aside, even with the smaller size (which is nice as well), this book is the ultimate for Kate Moss fans. Heck, it's a fantastic book for photography lovers all around. It contains pages upon pages of hundreds of photographs of Ms. Moss, most of which cannot be found anywhere else anymore.

Kate Moss is the most beautiful woman in the world, without a doubt.
There are some photographs in the book "Kate" that have been tampered with, as some of the images seek to embarass her, either way it is still a great book, she is beautiful and still is more and more gorgeous every "ad" campaign she is in to this day.
The Book is a photo book of Kate Moss, it also contains the "Obsession" campaign. I had to order this book but I used it everyday for a couple of years as I was doing a double Major in Graphic Design and Computer Graphic Design this book helped me to pass.

kate: the kate moss book is the best retrospective of kate moss's work up until 1995, when it was released. it's packed with images of kate from birth to the age of twenty-one. there are pictures shot at home, by the papparazi, and for magazines and clothing companies. the book includes many never-before-seen photos of kate, especially those taken by corrine day of the face magazine between 1989 (when kate was only fifteen) and 1992. there are nudes, glamour shots, and pictures of kate doing what she is best at, being herself. there are also photos of fellow supermodels christy turlington and naomi campbell. basically, this book is phenomenal and if you can buy it, i strongly recommend you do.

Another wonderful read in the series.......2006-07-18

In the fifth installment of The Royal Ballet School Diaries, the girls' start their first summer term. Ellie and her friends are thrilled when they learn that two past R.B.S. students, who are now world- renowned dancers, will be filming a documentary at the school. Everyone is ecstatic for the opportunity to meet the dancers and get a chance to be on film -- except for Kate. Ellie doesn't understand why and tries to find out. The girls are shocked to learn why, but with Ellie around, no one can be upset for long. This is just another example of how to be a good friend and realize that some problems are not as bad as they seem. As usual with the series, it is a good story about ballet and friends. Everyone will enjoy this book, and also the series. And as I stated in my previous reviews in the series, the only thing that I don't care for in The R.B.S. Diaries are that at times they can sound like a R.B.S. advertisement. Other than that, it is highly enjoyable!

This book is so good! It's my favorite so far. As I was reading it, I just couldn't put it down! My mouth was wide open in shock as I read it. I think anyone who reads this book will just absolutly love it, even if you don't dance. The only thing is that you have to read the other 4 before reading this one, otherwise it'll be hard to follow. Hey, it is a series!

The language is vintage Country PO, sometimes quite plain and coarse. Many will identify the grinding poverty and the resulting indignities to the mind, body and soul. To win was to ESCAPE! The book is amusing, sad, and sometimes gut busting funny.

The endless back breaking work in the sun roasted fields, planting, plowing, and harvesting on an eighty acre row crop farm is vivid. In the rural south, poverty was an "Equal Opportunity and Affirmative Condition" for both whites and blacks. "Saving for a rainy day" was an absurd concept, since it was always monsoon season for the PO. Being "Poor" was way upscale from "PO", and I shall forever present it in capital letters!

I finished the book on a trip that I had to go on to Chicago. I know the people on the aircraft thought I had lost it. I have not enjoyed a book that much in a long time. I guess it could have something to do with knowing the guy that wrote it. I thought of my dad telling me about many of the things you talked about in the book. I can see you pulling some of the pranks and I can better understand why you dressed me down for not giving a test I made a 92 on a better effort. I will never forget you telling me that my southern roots would be both a hindrance and a help. I am now using them to be a positive.

Thanks for all the fun reading this great book.

LIVIN PO is an excellent and accurately descriptive book about life in the south during and shortly after the depression. Dr. Long's book brings back many vivid memories of that era. I enjoyed reading the true story of his family and I am thankful that circumstances have improved. H.Davis

Dr. Long's book should be read by all those who take our contemporary lifestyle for granted. Through his perseverance in working in union with family while suffering the indignities of poverty during the depression, he gives us a glimpse of the character of many of our ancestors which laid the basis for the strong values and motivation to succeed of the generation that followed. A well written and entertaining biography.

A Remarkable Memoir by a Master Story-teller.......2001-09-16

Gordon Long's *Livin Po in Sandbed Hell* does for Georgia's flatland poor what the hugely popular *Foxfire* series did for north Georgia Mountain folk. He puts Girard, Georgia on the map with stories that will be laughed at for generations to come.

Structured as a well-written and incredibly funny memoir--which it is--Long's book also serves as an overview of Georgia farm life during the 1940s and 1950s not depicted anywhere else.

Gordon Long is a masterful story-teller. Readers will quickly have a sense of sitting on a front porch with a gifted and remarkable man. He tells his stories with just the right dose of humor as he describes the farm life of his youth. These tales range from blowing up stumps with dynamite to the perils of using a two-man crosscut saw; then offers details of: mule psychology and "motivation" needed to plow the fields; the ritual of hog-killing for meat, sausage and crackling; milking cows; quail hunting and country dogs; country privies; hunting and fishing trips that bonded families and communities; efforts to save the farm from foreclosure; "dirt farming" for cotton, peanuts, peas and corn; country meals and how food was stored and cooked.

The closing chapters offer a remarkable story how Long, as a young man worked hard to gain a public education to qualify him for entrance into college; attending rural church services, revival meetings and "dinner on the grounds"; wakes and funerals; and, a memorable 4-H camp.

This is a candid, funny and thoroughly enjoyable memoir that will serve as a wonderful education for city-folks who are interested in the skills, traditions, and daily life of Georgia farm life.

Long went on from Girard, Georgia to earn his bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, and his master's and dctorate in Business Administration. He then worked for years in corporate boardrooms, later to bring his skills and experiece to Georgia College & State University where he was one of the most dynamic and respected faculty in that University's College Business.

I really enjoyed this book, it is a real page turner, I learned a lot never realizing that so many people had such a hard life, and how far one can go with deterination.
I feel this book is good for everyone to read and see how really easy we all have thing today.
This book also shows there is no difference between the races when it comes to being PO.
