This is such a handy reference at such a good price. I recommend it to all the vocational students taking my course. I teach a state certified course for Administrative Assistants and Secretaries. The business English section is an outstanding review and includes a concise guide to usage of frequently "used and confused" English terms. If you aren't required to make plans for meetings often, the section of Meetings and Conferences will be a life saver.

Great resource book for a small law office.......2001-07-19
I use the book every day to help remind myself of word processing, legal document production and regular correspondence rules. I occassionally use the dictionary for new ideas in my correspondence and in stylizing documents. I highly recommend this book for the small office regardless to type of practice--it is resourceful. The appendixes, charts and chapters are designed with the secretary, legal assistant and/or professional in mind. One should also buy the companion series of Ms. DeVries' collection of resource materials for office management.

Historians have labeled John Buchanan Floyd a traitor and a coward for his actions during the Civil War, and this view has persisted largely unchallenged. This study reopens the case of this reform-minded Virginia governor and one-time Secretary of War to examine all aspects of Floyd's career. Pinnegar contends that partisan congressional investigations and wild newspaper claims branded Floyd as a traitor to the Union, and that the historical profession's tendency to focus solely on his connections to the Civil War era have ensured that Floyd's reputation was never leavened by the successes of his first fifty years. Pinnegar hopes to demonstrate that charges of malfeasance in office were exaggerated, while prevailing administrative routines were ignored, tactics that result in an unfair portrait of Floyd. Although he was a Unionist, Floyd did consider secession a viable option given the right conditions. This view earned him the label of "the most hated southerner in the North." Most of Floyd's personal papers were destroyed in a Union cavalry raid in 1864, making a complete reassessment of his reputation difficult. Pinnegar places Floyd's life in context, explaining the circumstances surrounding the scandals during his years as Secretary of War and chronicling the hardships, successes, and failures of his army command. While Floyd was certainly no saint, this challenge to accepted dogma looks beyond the labels to take the reader closer to the real Floyd.

More Love, A Lot Less "ghost writer.".......2003-08-17
great story of Love, but Ron Hoerburger, the ghost writer tries way too hard. No life is as polished, no set of anecdotes as yucked up or tidy as he presents them. More of Love and a lot less of Hoerburger would have made a far better book. You're not supposed to see the ghostwriter's presence as you constantly do in this boook, that's why they're call "ghost" writers- they're suposed to fade into the background, not try to upstage the star like Hoerburger does here.
My Famous Aunt.......2003-05-25
Knowing Ms. Love all of my life has only shown me one side of her great story. By reading this book I completely understand the heartbreaks and disappointments that have happened. But I also comprehend many of her triumphs over adversity that she has had to face. Loving you has been wonderful and knowing you keeps me wondering. Romans 8:39 - nor height, nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.
She's a Rebel!.......2002-07-08
Great book, fantastic read. Keeps the reader very interested as well as informed about the politics of the music business. It's a shame that her voice was manipulated and pimped the way it was, not given recognition for classic hits such as "The Doo Run Run" and "He's A Rebel". This art of switching voices wasn't made public until the 1990's with the Milli Vanilli and Black Box scandel, but clearly this act had been in existence forever. After learning that she was on the hit 1960's show "Shindig", I purchased several of the classic videotapes. She was not exaggerating- she has a wonderful voice and deserves to be amongst the legendary pantheon of female singers. I would recommend this book to any artist seeking to enter the music business for the pros and cons, and anybody, overall who just enjoys a good, rock and roll memoir.

A RARE TREAT.......1999-04-30
This was one of the most inspiring autobiographies I have ever read and I have read many. Darlene Love, I love you and I was glad you told your story to the world. I am awaiting the day that your star will shine bright and the world will know what true "Love" is. This is a must read for music lovers, Ms. Love shows the other side of the business and offers insights on talented artist who never made it and who got ripped off along the way, but still got by in spite of it all. She is a true H-E-R-O worthy af all our respect. She is the unknown Diva and she should take her place along with Aretha, Patti, Glady's, Dionne, and Diana.

This book proves that dreams due come true. The book Growing Up Harley Davidson is about the life of a family whos dream came true one day. It also shows that dreams come true even if the odds of doing so aren't so great. The book proves that if two minds are working together that anything is possible. However, this book showed along with this is a lot of time and money. This book first caught my eye because it envolved a family environment. It talked about in great detail about each generation of the family receiving it and the changes they made to make it better. The most interesting part of this book was at the ending chapters. It discussed the selling and of the buyback of the Harley Davidson Company. This was interesting to me because during that time of the selling the qualtiy of the motorcycles were going dowm along with the families dreams. I would recomend this book to anyone who is interested in learning more about Harley Davidson Motorcycles.
