Book Description
This book explores the connections between the Jungian concept of time-space relations and how today's business leaders can be aware of sychronistic situations to use them ethically in the workplace. It bridges the Jungian concepts of synchronicity with grounded business applications. It is written in a straightforward accessible style and includes examples from real life business situations. It explores synchronicity and explains how it can be recognized and used in business situations.
This book takes the sayings ''timing is everything' and being "at the right place at the right time" and establishes that synchronistic events do occur in the lives of entrepreneurs and others with surprisingly regularity.
· only book on "synchronicity" focused on entrepreneurial business
· real entrepreneurs' stories in small and large companies show how timing and synchronicity helped in the creation of the business and in the ongoing decision-making

Some coincidences defy explanation.......2000-12-26
Jessika Satori has assembled an impressive set of amazing coincidences: e.g. people meeting unexpectedly who discover that each has something the other desperately needs, and that together they can achieve awesome results. Indeed, some of the coincidences are stunning. They seem so unlikely, how could one doubt that they were somehow "destined" to occur?
Nonetheless, whenever we see someone trying to explain rare events, we should remain skeptical until other explanations have been ruled out. Satori has not done so. She is so committed to her mystical explanation that she fails to consider a far simpler explanation: in a complex world where millions of people interact every minute of the day, occasional startling coincidences are bound to occur. Sure, they are mind-boggling, but they are also to be expected. Customers win at the gambling tables in Las Vegas every day, but we attribute their wins to luck, not predestination.
As an alternative to Satori's book, or perhaps to give yourself a different take on coincidence, I highly recommend Michael Shermer, Why People Believe Wierd Things.
The Cutting Edge.......2000-02-10
This book is the best marriage of practical understanding and mystical intuition I have ever seen. Dr. Satori brings clear insight into the mysterious interaction between what appears to be serendipity and the hard work it is to be a successful entrepreneur. I found this book to be an invaluable tool in guiding me to the power to implement my dreams in a practical way. Following the direction given in this book is a path to the gold mine of inviting the universe to arrange your success.

Venturesome Vegetarian Cooking busts the veggie mold, focusing on flavor and innovative recipes, rather than on philosophy and persuading tofu to taste like tenderloin. These are great recipes that just happen to be vegetarian.
This mother-son team offers more than 150 recipes (and more than 100 color photographs) that are simple enough to pull together during the week, yet daring and delicious enough for dinner parties. This is vegetarian cooking for people who love to eat. Packed with advice for keeping cooking easy, efficient and always an adventure, the book includes a world of meat- and dairy-free meals drawn from the authors' culinary explorations—Spanakopita from Greece, Crostini and pasta from Italy, Pad Thai and aromatic soups from Thailand, Sushi and earthy noodle dishes from Japan, and plenty of comforting favorites from home like Creamy Mashed Potatoes, Fluffy Biscuits, Rich Gravy and Thick Corn Chowder.

An easy to use vegan cookbook.......2007-10-09
Most recipes that I've tried from this cookbook have been excellent, my favorites being the Thai Leek and Sweet Potato Soup (it is fantastic) and the Fruit Coffee Cake. The directions are clear and many recipes use unusual flavor combinations that work well. Also, they don't rely on any meat substitutes of excessive use of tofu/tempeh, which I like. I'd recommend this as a good addition to a vegetarian cookbook collection.
Deeelicious.......2007-05-16
This book rocks! Some of the most delicious, healthy and fun vege recipes I have tried in a while. Mostly pretty easy, but a few challenges make it fun as well. Check it out, I bought an extra to give to some lucky friend.
Venturesome Vegetarian Cooking: Bold Flavors for Meat & Dairy Free Meals.......2007-01-05
I found the book to be very good but as I have not tried all of the recipes yet I can not give a OK to all recipes. But what I have tried were very god.
Glad I Ventured.......2006-06-24
This book is great for those who want to get some variety and experiment with new flavors. The Asian-inspired dishes, the breaded eggplant with sweet tomato sauce, all really wowed me and made me want to try more. There are photos, which is nice, too, so you can check out what some of the recipes will look like in their finished form.
Great Vegan Cook Book.......2006-02-26
I have many vegan cook books, but this is one of the top 5 books I always cook with, doesn't take alot of ingredients, the pictures are beautiful. However to make it an even better book it would have been nice to have had some better desserts.

Customer Reviews:
What's the secret of getting this lousy book published?.......2007-07-30
This book is full of half-truth and false promises.
As the author knows too well how thin his book is in terms content, there are stupid sections called "In Their Own Words" after each "secret". And, as if it's not enough, the author inserts a "primer" on behavioural finance in the middle of the book. I really wonder how he can get this published.
And, this book seems to testify again to my own rule of choosing books:
"Never, never, buy a book with a portrait of the author on the cover, unless the author is already dead for a decade."
Informative book.......2006-11-24
The book came pretty quick in perfect condition. Very imformative to those who are new to this kind of money advise. Excellent service from the company it came from. They have great business practices. I just joined a financial service and what they taught me really caught my attention and I wanted to know more so they recommended this book to me. It is an excellent book for anyone who is just starting in the financial business.
One of the worst financial books on the market.......2006-11-16
The premise of this book is to reveal the 8 secrets of how ordinary people became successful investors. Yet there really are no secrets revealed. The whole book is basically one big, thinly disguised advertisement for the author's financial advisory services. One of the secrets in the book is to devote less than three hours per month to personal finances, and that includes paying bills. I fail to see how that is a "secret" that will ever help anyone get a handle on their finances. While the author encourages readers not to spend any time reading up on personal finances, the book is filled with comments about how the smartest thing many of the author's clients ever did was getting a financial advisor. So evidently the path to financial success, according to the author, is to not read anything about personal finances on your own and instead pay someone else to do all of the financial thinking and planning for you. I don't think anyone with any basic logic skills would believe this is really true. If you want a good book on how ordinary people really became wealthy, I'd recommend reading the Millionaire Next Door instead.
Don't be a follower, don't be a Lemming!!!.......2005-12-31
I ask that you please bear with me in my response to the other reviewer's responses about this book as well as my review.
As for my review, I felt that the author presented some very good axioms about money and finances in general. I felt that the "In Their Own Words" sections were extremely insightful and prove that the average person can obtain wealth. Overall, I would recommend this book to others and I would recommend that you keep an open mind about his ideas, as they most likely are not the same ideas that your parents touted about money.
As for the other responses, many readers commented along these lines and I would like to rebut them because it is obvious that those readers are following rules about money that where probably passed to them by others who had very little financial success.
-Some readers say the Mr. Edelman talks down to the readers; I think that they feel this way because like a lot of people, they don't like being told that they are wrong. Their pride gets in the way. When it comes to money lessons, you need to shelve your pride!
-Some suggest that this advice is dead wrong even though they admit that their way of amassing money didn't work or that they have very little to show for it; This is pride getting in the way of clear rational thinking. Why not try a different approach if yours isn't working?
-Some gave it a bad review because they felt that Edelman was trying to push his own products. Other than promoting his other books which was annoying at times, he never suggest that you should use his insurance, brokerage or financial advice services!
-It's amazing how many people gave this book a bad review but how most gave a book titled, "Die Broke" five stars!? This proves the overwhelming trend towards instant gratification in today's world, which is in direct contrast to this book.
-Still others point to the recent downturn in the market as evidence that the stock market or investing in equities can't be counted on. Yet these same people forget that the market has had historical highs and lows but over the long term has produced an average return of +7%. These people are nothing but a modern day chicken little. Should we just put or money under a mattress and do nothing because we may loose money in the short run? Remember we are supposed to be investing over the long term.
-Still others reference that many people "they knew" lost everything in their retirement accounts just years shy of retiring due to the recent stock market bust. If these people had done their homework they wouldn't have had their entire retirement accounts 100% invested in equities. That's their fault. Again are we supposed to NOT invest because "they said this" or because of fear? Many people get in bad situations with finances because they act on Emotions and not out of Rational decisions.
-Still others give the good old Enron standby as a reason not to follow Mr. Edelman's advice. If they did even a little research they would have found that those employees lost everything because they were 100% invested in Enron stock. Whose fault is that? They were riding the cash cow like everyone else until it all fell apart. Remember the old adage, that `Pigs get slaughtered'? Yes, the company did require every employee to invest at least 20% of their 401k in Enron stock. Shouldn't these employees have used some deductive reasoning and asked if that was a company that they wanted to work for if they were forced to buy company stock? Does that even sound logical? No, those employees had dollar signs in their eyes like everyone else.
-Another talking point that other reviewers referenced was the hotly debated idea of carrying a Mortgage. Most people tie emotions with paying for a home. While I understand that there are some feelings tied to home ownership it shouldn't dictate your financial decisions. As an example, one reviewer said this in reference to paying extra on their mortgage; "The piece of mind that came with owning our home free and clear was worth more to us." This is a perfect example of what Mr. Edelman talks about in his book. Will that piece of mind pay the bills if you get laid off, loose your job? I don't think it will. Why do people beat themselves over the head to pay off a 5%, 6%, or 7% mortgage? Truth is, it's the cheapest debt you can ever have. As an example, I know people that have 15-year mortgages or people that send extra payments while at the same time having two or three credit cards charging 17%-30% interest. Or they have one or two car payments totaling $500-$1000 a month but they are consumed with paying off their mortgage!?
-Still others ask if he would still follow this advice after the recent loses in the stock market and down turn in the economy. Well he does. It is obvious that these people didn't do their homework and bother to find out that he wrote another book after 9/11 suggesting and reinforcing the same principles he had prior to the economic downturn.
-Lastly, why would you want to follow the nepotism of these readers if after all their way hasn't worked or they haven't tried Mr. Edelman's way? After all, the 5,000 or so in this book were able to do it! I think that many forget that slow and steady wins the race. The author isn't offering a quick fix but a sensible plan to put one on the road to wealth! Regardless of what these readers say, success isn't measures against the DOW or S

When I started at a new job this book was recommended to all new hires so I read it and I thought it was a great book. I really believe anyone that wants to learn more about investing and being finically knowledgeable should read it. I am not an expert by any means, but I thought it was well written and kept me interested in reading it every day. He has helpful suggestions to growing your financial future and that can never hurt anyone who is open to learning.
Book Description
Weeden & Co. is the story of a family, a company and an issue that goes to the heart of the American financial system. It is told with candor and wit by the Weeden family's principal spokesperson, Don Weeden.
The family patriarch was a clipper-ship captain who settled in San Francisco. In the early 1920s, his sons launched a financial enterprise that, over the decades, became the leading champion of the Third Market in the United States - and a major thorn in the side of the New York Stock Exchange. At the firm's peak, Weeden & Co. sales volume reached 10 to 30 percent of the NYSE volume in certain NYSE-listed stocks, and for some securities Weeden's buying and selling even exceeded that of the NYSE specialist.
The issue in question is whether a stock exchange is a place or a concept. For the Weedens, automation predetermined the answer. Securities can and should be traded all over the country, unfettered by a particular geographic location or by fixed commissions. With Don, a second-generation Weeden, leading the way, Weeden & Co. became a significant investor in Instinet and developed it own proprietary system, WHAM (Weeden Holding Automated Market System). WHAM became the Regional Market System (RMS) and Multiple Dealer Trading System (MDTS), one of two systems authorized by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission to fulfill Congress' vision of a National Market System.
Don tells how the growing role of the institutional investor changed the way the stocks were bought and sold, and how the NYSE doggedly resisted change (even in the face of Congressional approval for a National Market System) and fought to thwart the influence of off-board market making. He reports on the involvement of congress, the courts, the regulatory agencies and the major players in the financial world at that time. The book is frank, contentious and fully revealing of how self-interest trumps national interest in shaping our financial markets.
Along the way, Don Weeden's company ran into serious business difficulties, and through merger lost its independence. After some years Weeden & Co. was reconstituted and once again became a growing and prosperous firm, which it remains today.
Still the battle for a National Market System goes on, made more urgent by the potential for terrorist attacks that threaten to destroy any market system not national in structure. And Don Weeden is still its leading advocate.
Weeden & Co. is an insider's look at how things really work on Wall Street. While it is a vivid history, it sharply intrudes on the present with a message of tremendous significance to our national survival.

Book Description
This book is the first systematic and broad-based attempt to bring to psychology the intriguing work of Emmanuel Levinas. Because contemporary psychology, in its adherence to the philosophical and methodological underpinnings of naturalistic science, too often abandons the questions about morality and ethical obligation, Levinas's writings about the experience of the face of the Other and the ethical obligation therein become particularly relevant.
In ten original essays by distinguished scholars--some philosophers, clinicians, and academic psychologists--the potential and experiential impact of Levinas's work in the understanding of our fundamental human nature and the practice of psychotheraphy are explored. Ultimately, the intention is to create a new discipline: namely, a "science of the ethical."

Book Description
This casebook is the first to provide interdisciplinary coverage of two exciting areas of the law: intellectual property and taxation. Valuable business assets are increasingly in the form of intangible assets such as patents, trade secrets, copyrights, trademarks, trade names, and computer software. Moreover, with the arrival of global, e-commerce transactions on the Internet, new forms of intellectual property, such as domain names and Web contents, have emerged. The creation, development, acquisition, and sale and licensing of these intellectual property assets have significant tax consequences.
Authors Maine and Nguyen adopt the problem method in addressing intellectual property taxation, and covers both general and special tax principles governing different forms of intellectual property. The book presents ten chapters, each of which is devoted to the taxation of a major IP transaction such as intellectual property research and development, acquisitions, sales and licenses, and judgment awards and settlements. Each chapter contains a set of relevant problems, a summary of the black letter law, and excerpts of important cases and administrative pronouncements. A comprehensive teacher's manual will be available.

Book Description
In this book the daughter of the former leader of China offers an intimate account of her father’s life, with particular emphasis on recounting the dramatic story of China’s Cultural Revolution as seen through his eyes and experiences. Transporting readers to the front lines of the Revolution and its aftermath, Madame Rong paints a very candid and compelling portrait of this turbulent era, along with firsthand insight as to how it shaped China’s people and the destiny of one man and his family in particular.
Customer Reviews:
Intimate portrait of an amazing person.......2005-11-21
This is a wonderfully intimate portrait of one of the most important persons in modern Chinese history. Deng Xiaoping's view of the development and modernization of China (being a pragmatist in favor of national economic development rather than a Marxist idealist keen on revolution at all costs) were apparently shaped during the turbulent Cultural Revolution years where he and his family suffered personal tragedy, but were spared much worse by the fact that he remained in favor with the cryptic Mao. It gives a great insiders view of how the Cultural Revolution gradually took root and how it waxed and waned and waxed again, and how the Chinese government operated during this period and the weird nature of the political struggles (Madame Mao never tried to make a raw grab for power, unlike Lin Biao, so her maneuverings were all about establishing authority by discrediting her rivals in front of Mao, all while chaos, denunciations of party officials and pitched battles that were rampant in the streets). Deng is an admirable person with great strength of character, waiting for nearly 10 years in the wilderness and under house arrest before he could return to power to simply do his job, and with no thirst for power, revenge or ego. The story about Deng's children are equally enlightening as to the actual experience of the Cultural Revolution and the peculiar nature of Chinese society and relationships during this time. There's a bit of Marxist jargon and party speak thrown in, but you can just skim over that bit.

Book Description
At age 17, Ron Heagy was handsome, robust, and a star athlete in high school football and wrestling. Then a dive at the beach changed his life forever, making him a quadriplegic. Now in his 30s, Ron is an accomplished painter who has earned his masters degree and developed a ministry of counseling other disabled people. He also travels and speaks nationwide, sharing his incredible positive attitude. Many of these speaking engagements are high school assemblies, where Ron holds kids spellbound between laughter and tears as he shares his story and what he has learned. Not only is Life Is an Attitude a fascinating story, it also tells of our need for a meaningful, personal encounter with the sovereignty of God.
Customer Reviews:
Try not to cry, this book is amazing.......2004-01-09
I read this book for a book report, and I got so into it, that I finished it in a day. I was drawn into Ron's life, and I didn't want to leave! His story was (I know this is really cliche but...) Inspirational. My point of view changed, from that moment. I realized that even if I felt like God's grace wasn't prevalent in my life, it actually was, because God has kept me safe throughout my life. There's multiple reasons that Ron had to go through this ordeal, but I believe that at least one reason was to reach people, people that feel lost or hurt, or like there's no reason to live, becasue Ron's been there, and he's been through that. God bless him, ans I pray that more people will read this book, ans see How God has work great things through this accident. I throughly enjoyed this book though.
Life Is An Attitude A Tragedy Turns to Triumph.......2003-02-22
I bought this book last year after seeing Ron Heagy on a television program. I was so encouraged when I listened to him that night while hearing him speak. Then I found out about this book.
I cannot tell you what a wonderful and inspiring book it is to read. Mr. Heagy really captures your heart when you read all the things he went through after his accident which left him a quadraplegic. After I read the book I passed it to a friend and she read it that night and her husband read it in one sitting!
This book will inspire, encourage and challege you in your life. It is a wonderful depiction of his life and hardships and what God has done for him despite everything he has been through and will eventually go through.
It is a highly recommended book to read for anyone....young and old. Take time to buy and read this book! You won't regret it and you will want to pass it to every friend you have to read it.
Incredibly Inspirational........2002-07-20
Here's another one of those books by authors who have had a rough life. The theme is the same as most of the books in this category: "If I can do it, you can do it."
This book is different. More than a challenge book, this one is a moving, emotional autobiography that will fill your heart with admiration and a desire to do something for others. The movie, Pay It Forward, came to mind several times as I hungrily read page after page. I just didn't want to put the book down. Several times, while reading "Never Give Up!" on an airplane, the emotion welled up strongly enough to bring tears to my eyes and a "catch" in my heart. I have not read many books that grabbed me and held me as this one did.
Ron Heagy is a quadriplegic. He's seriously handicapped physically, but powerfully strong spiritually. His love of God was present before his life-changing experience when he was 18 (no, I won't spoil your reading by telling you what happened), but became considerably stronger over the years. Even if you are not a deep believer, you will be impressed by how Ron's faith has made a tremendous difference for him.
Today, Ron Heagy makes a difference in the lives of other people as a motivational speaker and a leader in service to the disabled community. As you read about what he has accomplished, as he shares his story, you will be thankful that Ron and others like him are around to influence us. I was inspired by his struggle, but perhaps even more moved by what he has done in spite of potentially overwhelming odds.
This autobiography is filled with 39 chapters, an average of seven pages long, each sharing a chapter in the author's life. Co-author Donita Dyer, who helped shape this awesome story into book form, did a masterful job. We are right with Ron, inside his head and his heart, as he moves from one experience to another on a roller-coaster ride of a life. You can't help being thoroughly engaged in this story, as an individual, as a member of society, and as someone who influences the lives of others every day. There are several aspects of this book that will be particularly valuable for corporate executives, teachers, and others who are looked up to because of who they are . . . or should be.
Warning: You won't be able to put this book down until you finish it. Then you'll want to give it to someone else close to you to read. This valuable book is priced low enough that it can easily be given as a gift. Buy several copies.
A Wonderful Book! Must READ!.......2000-07-20
This book is one of the best books I have ever read. It was WONDERFUL! It made me see that I am not the only one in the world with problems and when you are thrown one and slaped in the face with it that you can make a triumph of it. I hope that you enjoyed this wonderful novel as much as I did.
I Have Met Ron and Heard His Story in Person.......2000-03-16
I met Ron Haegy several years ago and heard his story as told by him. He is simply amazing. I have looked for this book and not found it in our local stores. I ordered it and got another book by the same title. I am excited to find his book at Amazon.com and I have no doubt that it will be as wonderful as Ron was in person. I recommend this book to everyone.
