This is a great guide if starting a business is your dream or your current task. It covers, in brief, most of the questions I had. It also contains sample forms, addresses for obtaining forms, checklists... in short, more than you are likely to need. O'Neill and Warda also provide guidance for agencies to contact and additional books to read. The fact that it is written for one state is reassuring. This is not EVERYTHING you need to know, but it is a starting place for the nearly overwhelming number of things a new business owner needs to consider. It also helps the novice entrepreneur organize the process. I found this guide very helpful.

I work for a book summary company. One of the books selected for summary is this book.

Brian Tracy does what he is famous at doing: Giving yet another dose of proven strategies to attain success in life and business. Although the parallel between war and business tactics is quite a familiar subject, Brian Tracy manages to bring in some fresh look into it by giving clear illustrations. He takes us through the 12 steps by first detailing a war or battle and the principle employed by the leader that yielded results and rounds off by explaining the principle and how it can be applied for business and personal accomplishments. The book provides vivid details of the war or the battle and the accompanying principle, which does help in capturing the essence of the principle effectively. Some of the strategies appear rather simplistic. Nevertheless, like the constant drone on `being positive' advocated by Norman Vincent Peale, Brian Tracy never tires out to come out with some inspiring strategies for success at every turn. And he should know because he is a turn-around specialist who has established million-dollar companies for himself. It is indeed a quick digest for some inspired reading.

In the personal improvement genre, I recently finished Victory! by Brian Tracy. Not a bad read, and it has some pretty good ideas to improve your effectiveness in life.

The book consists of a number of "principles" that are pulled from military commanders and strategy. There are titles such as "The Principle of the Objective - Clarity Is Essential" and "The Principle of the Mass - Concentrate Your Power". The first part of each chapter starts with an illustration from a famous war or battle, and shows how a leader's decision based on that principle made a difference. An explanation of the principle is followed by how it relates to company effectiveness, and finally the principle is applied to your personal life. Since the book relies on military strategy, there are numerous examples and philosophies scattered throughout that tie back to generals and wars.

I've always liked Brian Tracy's writings. He is able to distill down ideas and concepts into practical steps you can take to become more effective. If you've read any number of personal improvement books, you'll see many ideas here that you've seen in other places. You may not have viewed them in light of military strategy, so that could lead to some additional insights. If this is your first exposure to self-improvement literature, you'll come away with a number of ideas that, once implemented, will cause you to become more successful in your personal life. And the book isn't written such that you have to do everything here or it doesn't work. Even the successful implementation of a single idea, like simplification of your personal life, can yield tremendous benefits.

If you're looking to break out of a rut or try some new ideas to become more successful, this book will definitely help you get there...

There are many business books and many self help books. Even the author had written many of the same kind himself. However, this one is truly outstanding and fascinating. The combination of war/battle histories with business/self development concepts bring life and glamour into the book. The ancedotes really help readers like me to better understand and bear in mind the twelve principles (in twelve chapters) the author elaborates. In short, a must buy for frequent business/self help book readers. I assure you that you can re-read it several times in the future with the same passionate interest.

A real gem on how Noel Perrin started sugaring from his own trees. He's revised the book over 20 years, so he's learned from his own mistakes and successes. He has some pithy commentary on Thoreau's costs of cabin making versus his own, as well. And did you know that milk (just a drop) will calm a roiling boil?

it brought back so many memories of my childhood even though my sister and I were blessed in that neither had a handicap as Jenny.

Georgia, the author, recognized at a very early age, Jenny's limitations and the two immediately developed a close and caring relationship that lasted until Jenny's untimely tragic death.

Jenny was born with hemanigoma, a rare vascular disease, in her left leg. Georgia made sure that Jenny was never left out of childhood activities and because of the love and support of her entire Christian family, she was able to establish a successful crafts and photographic business.

Her ultimate dream was fulfilled when she met Dewey, a minister, who succeeded her in death.

The story ends telling of tremendous unnecessary grief to the family because of the lack of a properly executed will. Included in the book also is important information on the need for early estate planning and valuable health issues.

I have read "Where Angels Walked," and I loved it. The Writer relates such a beautiful story about the love of these two wonderful sisters and their even greater love for God. If you have lost a sister (or brother), you will recognize her pain and loneliness, and you will rejoice with her when she finds peace of mind. The Goolsby girls conducted themselves with the goodness and grace of angels. I know that I shall read this book again-and again.

I purchased this tome in order to expand my knowledge of lesser known significant women throughout world history. But the book is more akin to a People Magazine's Annual list than an OED of women's history.

The book gives short shrift to women from Asia, Africa, and Latin America. Its primary focus is on late nineteenth and twentieth century women from the UK and United States. The significance of each woman's contribution to society has no correlation to the length of her entry. Supermodel Claudia Schiffer is devoted more attention than Harriet Tubman and Sandra Day O'Connor.

One of the worlds most mediocre photographers tackles one of the world most mediocre pop stars to arrive at one of the most mediocre photo books in the tradition of Anne Geddes and Celine Dion. Looking at this Soulless, vapid rubbish is a little like listening to Kravitz soulless, vapid music.

For 49 bucks go and buy a real photography book - Tony Ray Jones or Bruce davidsons 'subway' or if you simply have to look at celebrities then Richard Avedon, or Irving Penn. Don't settle for this publicist appeasing hack-work.

Lenny is a... man and an absolute rock star. Mark Seligar captures Lenny in a way that makes him compelling and makes you feel like you know him just a little bit. The picture of him and his father and what he says is something that I'll always remember. However, if you are not a die hard Lenny fan you will still enjoy the pictures but you will probably not want to own the book. I loved it and then gave it to a good friend who loved it even more.

"I just finished The Ghosts of Makara. I think it should be required reading in every history class in New Zealand. It is an interesting account of time past; it is remarkable that you remembers your childhood so clearly. I enjoyed your aside about "Treasonably my Haitian-born wife suggested years later that New Zealanders didn't know how to season lamb and used mint sauce to hide the strong taste!" The pages about "the sudden sense of cold realism, the realization that life was not a game" really hits one with their own memories. And your feeling about the Pamir, "The magic of this windjammer, sails billowing in the trade winds still evokes that thrill more than 50 years later." Beautiful writing.

The Ghosts of Makara.......2002-10-21

This book is easy to read and full of color. I have been to Makara and this vivid description of the Makara of yesteryear reads like a movie. I enjoyed it and felt that as I read, I could taste the nostalgic loss of a reality that in some ways was a paradise and in others must have been hell. Although the story takes place in a far away land this could have been anywhere in the world. I recommend this very personal family account, as the story could easily be yours or mine.
