Don't buy it.......2005-01-19
This is a 32 page booklet and a CD with forms you can't print, copy or otherwise use except to look at them. What a rip off. I would rate this with 0 stars if that rating were available. Go instead to your county court website and download the forms and instructions you need for free.
Book Description
A witty guide for women in the workplace
From waitresses to Wall Street brokers, as more and more women join the workforce, there is one truth about work they didn't expect and can't escape--it's often boring or overwhelming or sometimes both at once! The helpful, humorous hints packed into Work It, Girl! show them how to do just that.
Divided into minichapters--each covering a single tip--this quick, clever read follows the course of a career chick's workday, from safe on-the-road makeup application to postwork massage and manicure. Inventive and irreverent workday survival strategies cover a range of issues, including navigating office stereotypes, lobbying for better vending machine treats, and working off mid-afternoon blahs with the ultimate desk butt crunch. An essential cubicle companion for every working woman who needs the occasional laugh to keep it all in perspective.

Light on Substance & Style.......2004-02-16
The book was a bit of a disappointment and didn't live up to its lofty title. The advice was, well...dull. Trust me, the girl trying to live up to this book will be far from hip!
Not all I expected.......2003-12-06
I typically like the light-hearted advice books (especially "The Sweet Potato Queens' Book of Love" and "The Go-Girl Guide: Surviving your 20s with Savvy, Soul, and Style"), but this one didn't compare. I expected great (or at least witty) advice about the working world and found small chapters without great advice. I agree with another reviewer that a lot of it is just common sense advice and it became boring a lot of the time. I would recommend other advice books instead.
Good basic ideas.......2003-12-02
I like this book. I'm halfway through it and have already put quite a few of the suggestions to use. I have been working full time now for five years, and am working a job that pays well, but isn't exactly intellectually stimulating. Sometimes your thoughts, like a job, grow stagnant. This book helps refresh those thoughts and gives you new ideas on how to revamp your job and make it more enjoyable; at the very least, more tolerable.
Disappointed.......2003-10-24
I found that this book was not what I had hoped it would be. The chapters are all very short, so it never goes much in depth on anything. A lot of the advice was really kind of obvious common sense. It can be a useful light overview of work-related topics, but don't expect anything really detailed.
Tip Number 1 : Buy This Book.......2003-06-23
I admit, these kind of books (how to be glamorous / how to stretch a penny / how to dress like a Prada girl on a gap budget / how to be basically fabulous) books are my downfall. I love them. I'm a sucker for a great "how to be chic and fabulous" book. I love the graphics, the helpful little tips, the entire gossipy feel of them.
"Work It, Girl : 101 Tips for the Hip Working Chick" by Wendy Burt and Erin Kindberg is a fun and friendly user's guide for those of us either just starting out - or in the middle of that first BIG job. With chapters such as :
*The Breakfast of Champions
*Bookworm in the Fast Lane - (the joy of audiobooks on the commute)
*Relocation for a New Job - (how to get aquatinted to your new city)
*Effective E-mailing
*Kiss Me Kate - (tips for staying OUT of the office dating pool)
*The Little Car That Couldn't (auto repair)
This book covers every possible problem, question or insight into the world of the "chic" worker girl. It's a really lighthearted and fun user's guide and give some great and practical tips. A nice book for a gift or a quick ride on the subway to your new job. :)

Poorly edited mess.......2002-04-24
This book contains absolutely no information on how to judge whether a particular option is over- or under-priced, or how to arrive at either a bullish or bearish outlook. The idea is that you have already come to some conclusion and then you consult the book to determine how you should play the option. That would be fine if the book did not contain numerous errors, all due to the fact that this book apparently was not proof-read. For example, if your outlook is bullish, you find the strategy for putting on a call spread, and select the type of spread you want to do. The author then copied the same instructions into the section on bear spreads, and then tried to change all the "calls" to "puts" or the "buys" to "sells." Of course, he missed many such changes, and there are multiple instances where the word "call" appears where it should read "put," and where "buy" appears when it should be "sell." If you buy this book, you will have to make your own corrections in it, or you may follow the instructions right into the poorhouse. I consider the money I spent on this book to be wasted.
Hard to read textbook.......1999-12-01
The bad news: This is a classic textbook that requires all your attention and more. Even an experienced option trader can get lost easily. The good news: It is a comprehensive guide and reference book which I use once a week to help me choose the right move.
The fundamentals of Option Strategy.......1999-03-29
Option Strategies is an excellent intermediate treatise on option trading. While it doesn't go deeply into option pricing and implied volatility, its focus on strategy and decision structure serves the reader well. Almost every major position type, from the basic buys and writes to the more complex, such as ratio spreads and butterflies are covered. Each position is dissected in detail, with emphasis on how to deal with adverse and positive price impacts.
In the pantheon of trading tomes, Courtney Smith's work should appeal to those looking for a sound foundation in option strategy. It is one place where a trader can look at any idea and figure out which type of play offers the best risk/reward alternatives. A solid non-technical book.

Not what I thought but good basic book.......2001-12-11
I read a review of the book in a industry magazine and it described it as useful for a professional financial advisor, as the title also implies. It turned out to be a pretty basic educational book with general but basic financial information. A good book for a beginner or someone who is just beginning to break into the financial services industry, but not necessarily for a seasoned professional.

Mitchell Lee Marks and Philip H. Mirvis, who separately and together have worked on more than 50 major corporate "marriages," offer a useful distillation of the myriad lessons they've learned about this vital and increasingly common business activity in Joining Forces: Making One Plus One Equal Three in Mergers, Acquisitions, and Alliances. By examining their own projects, along with various other winners and losers, they've identified a number of specifics that can help ensure that such combinations ultimately succeed. Included are details on preparation, managing transition, minimizing stress, and developing an entirely new culture.
Book Description
If 750f all mergers fail, what makes the 25ucceed?
Mergers, acquisitions, and strategic alliances are all the rage in today's business world. We have seen and will continue to see in the coming years major shifts in computers, electronics, banking/financial services, healthcare, and telecommunications. Large corporations as well as small, entrepreneurial companies are discovering significant strategic advantage when they merge or align business processes. Joining Forces is a guide to making these combinations successful.
From pre-merger planning to post-merger alignment, Mitchell Marks covers the three key components of a successful transition: hardware (organizational structure), software (policies and processes), and people.
Customer Reviews:
A Good Read!.......2001-04-17
Many mergers, acquisitions and alliances fail due to lack of preparation before, lack of care during, or lack of focus after the deal. Joining Forces is a sober, to-the-point manual directed at business leaders who want to provoke successful combinations, as well as managers and employees who have to deal with the burdens, both mental and physical, of combinations. For the past decade, corporate America has embraced M&A - often with mixed results - and the consolidation pace seems to be accelerating. But too few people inside and outside of the companies involved understand what the combination process means or how it should be handled. Organizations must be willing to focus on the psychological impacts of a combination on their employees. Joining Forces provides a rough sketch of how this can be accomplished - minus any unnecessary strategic details or legalese. We [...] recommend this book to executives, managers and employees at every level - all of whom probably will have to face the realities of corporate consolidation some day.
Clear, concise and on target!.......2000-12-06
In 1998, Marks/Mirvis and Clemente/Greenspan set the M&A world on its head with two very different yet equally groundbreaking books. The former pair's pioneering guide focused on preparing for the transition, team building, and identifying psychological barriers, while the latter duo revealed the secrets behind successfully combining cultures, strategies and processes in their timeless classic-- Winning at M&A. I've read them both many times -before, -during and -after each of my firm's acquisitions, and while new copy-cats and rip-offs continue to be published, no books as effectively walk the reader through the problems, their detailed solutions, and most importantly -- the real-life examples that offer step-by-step guidance on how to succeed. Deals fail all the time and these authors explain why and what they've done to turn failure into success. After each read, the information is still fresh, relevant and insightful. Virtually every other book on the subject is either fluff, history, or a cheap imitation. This is the real deal.
The Real World of Mergers.......2000-03-30
Marks and Mirvis are veterans of the merger battlefield and report the action extremely well. The book is filled with examples and approaches to resolving some of the most common problems encountered when two firms integrate. The other plus about the book is its heavy emphasis on the people and cultural issues that so often get ignored in most corporate combinations.
Insights into mergers and aligning business processes........1999-03-06
Discusses the strategic advantages of companies merging or aligning business processes. The authors provide guidelines for making these arrangements successful. The book covers factors driving combination activity and delves into the details of the process, from initial planning and cultural due diligence to the integration of structures, policies, and practices. The authors also give guidelines on assisting in the subtle, delicate process of psychological adjustment. Recommended.

Book Description
In the last decade, there has been much research into the exact events surrounding the assassination of John F. Kennedy. According to new information gathered and assessed by Matthew Smith, JFK was murdered on orders emanating from the “alternative” government—the Establishment—which catered to “big business” and which Kennedy was in the process of divesting of power in favor of a government that put people first. The President’s new priorities won him few friends in the government, and Smith emphasizes the fact that most of his policies were dismantled within 18 months of his death. Indeed, his decision to withdraw from the early stages of Vietnam was reversed within hours. In Say Goodbye to America, Matthew Smith carefully examines the role of domestic and international business concerns and how government policies swiftly changed after JFK’s assassination—including the engagement in Vietnam, a war that generated “business” to the tune of $200 billion.
Customer Reviews:
SAY HELLO TO JFK 101.......2003-02-19
Matthew Smith clearly has a good heart and a thankfully straightforward prose style, accentuated by his mercifully short chapters which get right to the point without bogging down in unnecessary detail.
Unfortunately, his book will disappoint all but those few readers who don't already know the basics of JFK assassination conspiracy theory.
Smith posits a none-too-original theory about Lee Harvey Oswald's mysterious trip to Mexico two months before the president's killing and he expresses ideas about Jack Ruby that could only come from a non-American unfamiliar with the 1960s' dominance of the Mafia in major U.S. cities. The author lists Mary and Ray LaFontaine's excellent "Oswald Talked" in his bibliography, but makes no mention of its major revelations including the fact that Ruby AND Oswald were involved in a major arms heist from nearby Fort Terrell earlier in November 1963.
Smith presents rehashed and hackneyed analyses of oft-surveyed assassination details such as the botched autopsy, the shooting of Officer Tippit, the suspicious deaths of many witnesses, the "pot shot" at Gen. Edwin Walker and the Garrison probe.
With the help of a European computer graphic wizard, Smith prints several pages of Dealey Plaza "3-dimensional" drawings purportedly proving that shots originated from the Grassy Knoll. There's no doubt they did -- all we have to do is watch Zapruder's film and read the testimony of more than four dozen witnesses who were there that day, including Jackie Kennedy who had to crawl on the BACK of the Lincoln to retrieve part of her husband's head -- but Smith's computer graphics and accompanying text are simply dizzying.
Perhaps Smith's most eye-opening, most harrowing story is told by airplane mechanic Hank Gordon, who recalls working at Red Bird airfield in Dallas that awful Friday afternoon, and how Kennedy's murder had been brazenly predicted by a Cuban military pilot there.
The best thing in Smith's book by far is the Foreward by Jim Marrs (author of Crossfire and Rule by Secrecy, both highly recommended). The longtime JFK researcher aptly scolds U.S. citizens, and especially its corporate-controlled media, for letting the murder of our president go uninvestigated, unsolved and unpunished. George H. W. Bush was in Houston on Nov. 22, 1963 (See Bruce Adamson's "1,000 Points of Light") and he alerted the FBI to some suspicious character there...Bush Sr., the oil magnate, may have employed Oswald's "friend" George deMohrenschildt...and Bush Sr. headed the CIA in the 1970s, just in time to shred plenty of paper that might otherwise have fallen into the hands of the Church or Rockefeller committees or, worse yet, the House Select Committee on Assassinations.
As Marrs points out, any country that just rolls over and lets its president die like a dog in the street deserves all the Bushes it gets.

Book Description
A brutally honest and vivid account of my 20 year battle with mental and physical illnesses, focusing on anorexia and bulimia. My book provides never-before disclosed insight into the true destruction of the mind and body at the hands of these fatal diseases. The tale begins with a childhood diagnosis of Graves disease, and reveals how feelings of shame and self-disgust, along with obsessive/compulsiveness, contributed to my becoming a victimof both date rape and domestic violence. I give inside detail into my miraculous survival and continual healing through faith and love.
Customer Reviews:
Author shares experience and hope........2001-07-30
Because eating disorders are often part of a very secretive lifestyle, many of us are clueless to the reality of the stuggles involved in dealing with the disease. Most of us know someone, perhaps someone we love, and have not truly understood. This book is a detailed transcript often so troubling to read that I put it down only to absorb what I read and then so captivated by Lauren's struggle I had to continue. Although difficult for her to do, it is obvious she was inspired by her relatonship with the Lord to write this account of her illness. I applaud her courage and obedience and thank her for giving us the information she shared to help us help the victims of this tragedy in our paths. It is a book I have already passed on and recommended to several people. One young lady found hope in her struggle. That's what it's all about.God uses us in our weakness and even our illness to bring others to Him. This book is honestly written and a true account of the need for a relationship with Jesus Christ. I highly recommend it.
But I'm Not A Bad Person.......2001-07-28
One of my best friends has suffered from Graves disease and anorexia, and I never understood what she was going through until I read this book. I thought that when the thyroid was removed, she would immediately be better, and did not realize that it takes a long time and requires yearly blood tests and sometimes medication adjustments. I was judgemental, angry, and easily frustrated, and I regret it. Thank you, Lauren, for opening my eyes and heart so that I can be a better friend.
Not worth reading.......2001-07-23
This book is choppy and repetitive; I found it to be very poorly written. I am a recovering anorexic/bulimic and although her story is intriguing, she has no business being a writer. With so many books available on eating disorders, I advise people to pass on this one. A better choice would be "Wasted" by Marya Hornbacher or "Early Disorder" by Rebecca Josephs.
A true life experience.......2000-11-29
In reading this book, it is so much more than that, more than a book. It is someone's life and her battle against eating disorders as well as other medical diagnoses, her feelings, actions, reactions from the difficult time of "teenagerhood" through adulthood. It gives insights to those of us who know someone fighting this battle. As well as gives us hopes of triumph. Lauren writes in a very matter of fact language, not holding anything back to assure the reader that she is telling the whole story, no matter how unpleasant it might be at times. I believe anyone who is fighting this battle would be glad to see Lauren's words, her life, in print. I imagine it might take some of the loneliness away from others who are battling daily. Lauren brings up an important medical aspect in her book which really needs to be further researched...the correlation between thyroid problems and eating disorders. Most importantly, Lauren shows her commitment to beating the Beast which I believe will help others to get the strength for the battle, be it through religion or whatever means they should chose...Lauren proves there are victories.
I could really feel her pain.......2000-11-06
I bought this book because I heard how honest the author was in it. I was so moved by her honesty, I had to put it down at times because the words were so powerful. The way she and her husband worked through it with the Lord was so moving. What a wonderful testimony for the Lord in their lives. She has beared her soul in this book and I admire her for that.
