Just didnt find anything that floated my boat on this. Its not a horrible book by any means but seems to me more hype than substance and more about motivation than real leadership. Just didnt do it - dont have much to say about it really. Disappointing

Dull, dull, dull.......2006-02-14

I heard one of Batten's tapes and liked what I heard so I was inspired to get this book. My mistake! This book is so contrived with a sappy Doug character who is used to tell us the story of a Master Motivator. Doug wins the award of a Master Motivator at his company at the beginning of the book and we go back to his story over the last year. Doug is a nobody who is really excited at the beginning because someone believes he has potential. This person who believes Doug has potential hooks Doug up with The Mentor. Yawn. Doug is his totally agreeable puppy thinking everything The Mentor says is wonderful. While I suspect that most readers will think that everything The Mentor says is like a parent lecturing a slow child. Or a slow parent lecturing a slow child.

But that's not all! In this experimental book we get to learn 200 things that each of the authors accomplished. Such as walking to school, or having a really expensive car!

If you are not waiting for someone to believe in you and want a professional discussion of leadership, I recommend you check out some of John C. Maxwell's books.

Inspiring! Motivating! Instructional!.......2005-05-02

This great book shows you how to lead not drive and explains the difference between leaders and mere bosses. Great foreward by the great Jim Rohn.

The Master Motivator is an instructional manual for success packed with scenarios and specific steps. You'll want to refer to The Master Motivator again and again.

Through a memoir of how "Doug" became a glittering personal success the authors offer a total self improvement advice package centered on using wasted time to read and listen to motivational tapes. "Doug" does this to affirm, list, and build upon his strengths and energize himself (and others through mentoring) to unleash and expand his potential. I am assembling a bibliography of works on leadership and motivation, and this is the best I have found, due largely to concise writing and a "whole person" approach, including physical and moral fitness and including business, family, and the totality of life. A good read that will be referred to often.

Overall, very well writen and presented recipies. It does not cover the vast variety of dishes posible in a Country with some many different culinary tastes, but give and overall presentation of the main and most common dishes of the different regions.

The Real Deal...Colombian cuisine at your fingertips.......2002-11-27

If you know Colombia...then you are well aware every region has its own distinct cuisine. To that end, "La Cocina Colombiana," has them all. Want to know how to prepare food from the coast...no problem, from Medellín...piece of cake, from Bogotá...get the picture?

Moreover, there is a terrific guide for making many of the typical fruit and alcohol drinks in Colombia. Quite frankly, I cannot say enough good things about this book. On the downside, the text is in Spanish but my seventh grade son who has only studied Spanish for two years, can read or figure out the reciepes with few problems.

Overall, this is a delightful book filled with instructions for preparing fruits, vegtables, soups, salads, meats, poultry, fish and fabulous deserts normally found in Colombia. An added plus is the polished photographs of each meal. In my opinion this book is a bonanza for anyone who loves Colombian food. If you are looking for a great cook book gift..."La Cocina Colombiana; paso a paso," will bring great joy to any kitchen worldwide.

This is truly a wonderful book. Colombian cuisine is depicted at its best. It is a wonderful introduction to typical colombian plates from diverse regions of colombia, enabling you to taste the infinite combination of flavors that characterize the colombian kitchen. Most of the recipes ingredients are found in foodstores all over the USA.

When closing price goes up N times, buy. When it goes down N times, sell. Exit when profitable enough. If exited too early, re-enter. Use stops. Different markets are profitable in different time frames, from one-minute to hourly bars. This strategy is very profitable and has been tested on one month of data. If this sounds interesting - buy this book.

Alternatively, read this review again and implement it in your trading.

Mountain/Valley Trading System.......2004-07-03

Basicly, this is a trend following system. It's designed to hang on to winning trades as long as possible and to dump losing trades quickly. It's similar to a trend breakout system, execept that you control, with two input values, when a valid breakout and a trend begins. It has money management logic built into it. I have created a Tradestation program based on this system which I use to automatically execute trades in Diamonds, Spiders, and E-minis. It's a robust system, works with any security, and is very profitable when the market are trending.

1 Technique Explained in Dull Fashion.......2003-01-04

This book was written in '96 and as such, Easy Language could have been included since it was available then. The system requires high maintenance observation (in 1 minute, 5 minute, 15 minute and 60 minute charts in each future discussed) that would require programming assistance in the background. NB Another reviewer states he has programmed this in ELA & offers his email address.

There are many charts which take up half of the book, but since most of the time the chart being referenced in the text is on another page, it's a hassle to jump back and forth. The writing style could cure insomnia.

As in Larry Williams' daytrading book, this book would have benefitted greatly by inclusion of Performance Reports with Profit Factors, ROI, consecutive losers and the like. In fairness to the author, he provides the results of all trades in a month period for the different time periods (1-minute through 60-minutes) for various futures including the DM. These could have been enhanced with profit targets, it was surprising to see better than potential $1000+ trades allowed to turn into losers.

Once the single system was explained, the various futures could have been presented with 1 time frame Performance Report and the best value, on successive pages.

Unfortunately since Barnes limited himself to 1 month of trades, there is insufficient information on those time frames greater than 1 or 5 minute charts, to determine the validity of the system. One needs a minimum of 30 samples and in many instances there are only 3 trades for the time period presented.

Better editing would have enhanced the value of this book in making it more comprehensible and capable of the system being confirmed as being viable.

I used the system outlined in the book to develop a highly successful longer term system that makes very good returns with low drawdowns. It also recovers very quickly from losses. Enough said!

A disappointing book.......1999-07-28

For one of the most photograhed woman of the twentieth century it is amazing that with each new book that is published that the photo's used to illustrate it are generally one's that have been used often in the past...this book is no exception...very few unseen or different photo's here..and as usual the content is sadly unbalanced..the book is 120 pages long...86 of those pages refer to the years up until 1963..the last 30 years of her life...which wre just as interesting are dismissed with a scant 34 pages.Aristotle Onassis makes one appearance and Maurice Templeman who shared more of her life than any other man doesn't get a look in...all in all a very disappointing pictorial look at this facinating woman's life.

Nothing new in the written content - just a basic description of her life. But features beautiful (and often big) black and white photographs of Jackie as a child, wife, First Lady, and beyond. Some photo's are of events and functions I had seen before, but taken from a different angle. Other's are more rare. Lovely book, but only for a true collector.

I was truly impressed and inspired by the Rev.Jackie McCullough's book of poetry, punctuated phrases and sermonettes. This is an anointed woman of God who has been blessed with so many talents. "In Quietness and Confidence", our emotions are arrested and our minds are challenged. This book inspires the reader to have the utmost trust in God, and it's truly beautiful. It's a must for anyone who loves the ministry of Jackie McCullough. Many people don't know this, but Reverend McCullough is a God-gifted poet and lyricist. Her poetry is moving, inspiring, and soul changing. She also wrote all the lyrics to her musical album which shows that God does not only minister through her in speech, but in literary words as well.

I read her book daily, because in it I find meaning for every aspect of life we face. It's truly a daily meditation. It will usher one into a new place of stillness, attentiveness and rest where God desires to impart confidence, security and balance. This is truly a blessed book filled with over a hundred pages of Jackie McCullough's poetry and celestial words of the Spirit and encouragement, plus the photos of various settings give meaning to the written words. I recommend this book to everyone, but especially those who love Jackie McCullough's ministry, because it'll give you a view into the mind, heart and soul of this anointed woman of God!
