This is smaller book, you can read it in 2 hours max, and have basic words that anyone can understand.

The main idea of the lecture is lucky. By using two paradigms about how each person lives, we can see that lucky is not more than construct the best way and try to find it to do things.

If we pass all life waiting lucky, simply, we are going to spend more than 60% of us.

Its better to constructs the way the lucky will have an oportunity to rise inside each person's life.

Laconic version of Trading Day By Day.......2007-07-27

This is an outstanding book. Many say that his other book is better, but I don't think its necessarily that it's "better", as it is essentially the same concept, although just different levels of depth.

I consider this as the Laconic version of Chick's methods and teachings.

I am telling you- don't just read this book- APPLY IT. Don't be foolish and gloss over it as many "traders" do and run your mouth negatively as one reviewer here did (he is the one I'd like to ask if he has traded before) without actually reading and understanding what the author is telling you. This is a complete guide, TDBD expounds on his teachings. Get both books for the different perspectives they offer.

Like I said, this is the Laconic version of TDBD, and, like the Spartans from which "Laconic" is derived-this book is efficient and powerful.

Vague, poorly done.......2003-08-18

I cannot believe the other reviews. Have any of you ever traded before? This has to be one of the worst trading books I've ever read. I've read hundreds and have an extensive library, as well as over 15 years trading experience.

He gives many ideas and suggestions of how to enter and exit trades based on SMR Charts, but nothing concrete because there are so many variations you could "try". Basically trade with the trend and "try" to buy a pullback. Any other book on swing trading would be better and more useful. This is just swing trading using SMR Charts and their indicators, though you can use your own similar indicators. This book is very expensive for something you can get out of any swing trading book, which would give you a lot more value and insight for your money. On money management, same thing, vague - not much more value than telling someone "don't trade too heavy" and to "go with your best guess".

You might notice that there is not one single endorsement from anyone on the back of the book. With someone described as a "top notch sought after money manager" and a "big time trader" doesn't it make you wonder why? Don't waste your money.

Outstanding Book on Using the SMR Momentum Indices.......2002-07-09

This book is especially useful to anyone who has ever traded the markets using the SMR (Security Market Research) charts and timing oscillators. As one who has based his trading on these indicators over my "on again-off again" trading career that has spanned 30 years, Chick's approach and explanations of how to use these momentum based indicators to trade the markets was truly enlightening. I have read the book several times and it has been really useful to subscribe to Chick's daily real time e-mail commentary on 17 commodities which further clarifies the concepts explained in his book....

One warning: When you first read and look at this book, you may not realize just how valuable and powerful the information being presented really is. But hang with it and the investment in time and energy will be well worth it if you review, study, and use these concepts.

Simple but effective. Unlike other authors, Chick managed to stay always focus on the subject and does a very good job in explaining with great detail his techniques. I highly recommend it.

I have taken one of Chick's classes and automated his trading strategies for day trading the S&P's. After thousands of test on nearly every indicator and system I know, his is still the easiest to understand and very profitable. The system works on all time frames and allows you to predict a few bars ahead.

Jim writes like he speaks and is a top notch presenter on stage. This book is for anyone that needs a shot in the arm and has trouble getting out of bed in the morning. The one-liners are worth the price alone, Jim is an example of "face in the dirt to riches." If you asked him what he thinks about being poor he would say, "I tried that and its sucks."

If you have anything to do with selling or you're in a business that needs motivation to make it run, this book is packed with ideas in real life language any "HSG" (High School Graduate) can understand as Jim proves thats all you need to become a multi-millionaire. This is the first investing book I have read which goes beyond the typical "Are you Very Aggressive vs are you Conservative?" question. By using the personality profile quiz, one reaches a deeper understanding of their investing psyche. From this one can develop an investing plan which works for HIM/HER! My wife and I both took the quiz and were enlightened with our different attitudes towards money/investing.

The asset allocation pies are very helpful and much more specific than most I've seen. I highly recommend it.

I enjoyed Tanous's previous book, Investment Gurus, and this one lives up to what I would expect from him. Tanous speaks plain English and, unlike so many others, doesn't over-promise. Here is a formula for creating wealth in an intelligent, easy to follow, way which takes into account one's personal profile. I loved taking the test and learning what I was really like as an investor! The advice is sound, the writing is conversational, and I came away feeling like I had finally learned something which I could use to reach my goals on the stock market. Highly recommended!

This is a breakthrough investment book. Tanous has figured out why the vast majority of investors can't get rich simply by following someone else's advice. The ingenious test which determines investment personality works with scary accuracy, based on the tests we did with a number of friends and colleagues. The investment advice is very sound and well grounded, and the portfolios in the back of the book offer a much more sophisticated approach to portfolio creation than I have seen before. I admit, it took more careful reading to understand some of the intricacies of these portfolios, but the effort was well worth it. An excellent history of Jackson's Valley Campaign.......1997-06-16

"Stonewall Jackson's Valley Campaign" is an excellent history of the Valley Campaign of 1862. For me, the highight of this book was that it was originally written in 1880. The notes in the back of the book make frequent mention of how the author was able to contact the people who actually served with Jackson - talk about primary source material!

Speaking of notes: they are sometimes more fun to read than the main text. In addition, they contain detailed reports of battle casualties are also found in the notes section.

The one negative that I found with this book (which is a 1995 reprint of the original) is that it doesn't have any maps. The text refers to various maps (1 through 7) - but they are nowhere to be found. This isn't a big problem, but I still think the publisher should have included them.

This book keeps you on the edge of your seat and never lets you go. I recommend this book for anyone who wants to know how to write a mystery and for anyone who loves horror stories. I loved this book and aspire to write such a compelling story one day. But just remember start with the 1st novel. That one will have you tearing at your eyes to read the second!

I actually recieved this book when I was eleven to read as we traveled (uugh) cross country by car. Needless to say it is an excellent book. i haven't read the first book but now i absolutely have to get the third. while leaving mysteries it also had a quality you don't find in normal chapter books. when your done with a regular book and long to know more there is no way to do so. with these you need only oick up the next book until your curiosity is satified. this is a great book and hope you all will enjoy it as much as i have.

This is a great book, with secrets and plots everywere, has it should be, with Cainites. The secrets that Dire has, even those not known by himself, keep you thinking, and trembling. Great book of a great trilogy.

Suffers from "middle-book-itis"........2000-06-13

The first book of the "Masquerade of the Red Death" trilogy, "Blood War", was a well-written, fast paced, interesting novel with one flaw: It had no ending. This is a common flaw in trilogies or multi-book series; even if the main plot will carry from one book to the next, ideally, some major subplot should be begun and ended in each book, or at the very least there should be an ending of each individual book at a reasonable "break point."

This book did not suffer from this as badly as I expected it to; it did not feel like it had no beginning, in spite of the fact that it was a continuation of "Blood War". And while it had no true ending, the cutoff point was more reasonable than that in the first book.

Still, I cannot rate this book, on its own, higher than a three, because it is not a complete story on its own. The series as a whole may wind up with a higher rating than that, but as an individual book, this is simply a story fragment.

It's a well-written and interesting story fragment, but a story fragment nonetheless.

I knew Sheila Quinlan Williams, the author of this book. I used to work at the same company where Sheila worked. There were two things about Sheila that I discovered right away: she is one of the nicest people I've ever known and she has (or had when I knew her) a crippling stutter. I never heard Sheila say anything negative about another person. She always strove to see things from the other person's perspective -- even if it was to her own detriment. And she could barely speak a full sentence without stumbling painfully over the words, in spite of her obviously exceptional intellect. I thought she was just painfully shy. It wasn't till several years later that I learned of her abuse as a child -- certainly the cause of the stuttering. In spite of my admiration for Sheila, I have avoided buying this book for several years because I'm afraid it would be too much like helplessly watching the abuse of a wonderful person. Unholy darkness, indeed.

Sheila Quinlan Williams puts on paper her personal experience's and deepest secrets. She makes her life come alive and you can follow her through it.
The subject of mental illness discussed openly and giving you insight into people who actually give us these problems.
I applaude her straight forward way of putting things on paper and her insight into the terror.

Revealing secret struggles with mental illness........2002-11-23

The Unholy Darkness is a rare look into the life of a person that has suffered from mental illness for much of her life. Most books involving mental illness have been written by mental health professionals. Sheila Quinlan Williams writes from personal experience with tremendous insight, honesty and courage. The subject of mental illness in America is one that remains closeted. As a society we have been taught that mental illness is a subject to be avoided and hidden. Sheila reveals in her autobiography the damage that is inflicted upon people that are forced to hide their inner struggles as well as the exacerbation of the condition caused by unwitting people in her life. This book is an opportunity for people who suffer themselves to relate to an inspirational person that has suffered greatly and triumphed as well as an opportunity for loved ones and mental health professionals to better understand the secret struggles that many people face on a daily basis. Healing can only occur after an open dialogue has been initiated. An open dialogue will only occur when those who combat mental illness feel safe to discuss their struggles without judgment. Healing is an ongoing process that can be assisted or hindered by each of us. We all know people that suffer from mental illness whether or not they have chosen to divulge their secrets. The writing of this book is initself a testament to the author's spirit and strength of will. Her first hand account is a significant contribution to the literature of mental illness.

Prelude to First Born.......2007-09-16

The main reason one should get Unholy Union is that it is a prelude to First Born #1. It doesn't do anything fantastic in terms of the artwork, and most of it is mindless action, but there are some interesting tidbits in here leading to the events of First Born #1. Ghost Rider, Hulk, Witchblade and Darkness all make forgettable appearances. The worthwhile sections of this comic come in the form of Dr. Strange and his mystical probings into a vast conflict that he sees unfolding. He's not sure exactly what is going on, but he's taking measures to see that the parties involved are not caught totally unawares. I don't know if the First Born series is going to be any good, but if it is, you'll want to have Unholy Union in your collection.
