Not what I had hoped at all.......2006-09-01

This book was extremely disappointing. I bought it expecting it to talk about how to make cordials, instead it teaches how to mix alcohol and syrup. To me, cordial making starts with a raw ingredient (fresh fruit, nuts, herbs, and/or flowers) and then continues from there. If you are interested in learning how to begin making cordials or in gaining new ideas or techniques, look elsewhere. The reason it is getting 2 stars instead of 1 is because there is a little bit of useful information on making extracts, but that informaiton is definitely not worth the price of the book.

This is by far the best Irish Cream recipe that I've tried. I have to disagree with the guy who said that these recipes are easy to find on the internet. He obviously didn't make this recipe. Speaking from experience...I can tell you that Irish Cream made with sweetened condensed milk and eggs does not pass the muster. This recipe uses neither and tastes superb. As you can tell I am an Irish Cream fanatic!

If you want to spend 8 dollars to get a paper copy of a bunch (well really not that many) of recipes that are easy to find on the internet, go right ahead. I wish I hadn't.

Unique and Fun!.......2000-01-22

I found this book an easy way to experiment in the kitchen. It was fun to try new things at a low cost and it made great gifts that were unique & different.

Like dB I havent read the book either. It was however strongly recommended by a reader (Threei) on the Elite Trader board who had read it as a solution to discipline problems.

Also, unlike Mike Covell who wrote another book that is reviewed here and gets Amazon to remove all non-complimentary reviews of his book at least this author leaves them up~!!!

If you want to learn about futures, don't buy this book. Dr. Elder's book "Trading for a Living" covers risk management better in the first 3 chapters than this whole book.

I use this book as a personal calender. The timely reminders about the seasonal trades are always before me. It is a resource that I have turned to repeatedly as I try to maximize my investments.

Details about triple witching, holidays, seasons and days of the week make this a tool anyone can use.

Full of Stats.......2002-06-28

Great Book but I don't know if it justifies the price. In many ways, it will open your eyes on some facts that were not obvious to you.

This is the absolute book for market stats. In addition, the book also includes several of last year's best investment books concise summary. I find these to be a valuable "free gifts".

And for the reason of the four stars rating, I find that there are crucial statistics that this version lacks, such as the analysis of bull and bear markets (mean, median, range, etc.). If Victor Sperandeo in his "Trader Vic--Methods of a Wall Street Master " is able to generate these stats, why Hirsch, the Master of Wall Street Stats, omits this important data?

Through this book's analysis and recommendations, I turned my '457 fund from an 8% loss for 2001 to a 16% gain instead!!

This was a result of seasonal timing, and my own discipline as a trader, and considering the fact that I didn't use any type of shorts or hedge fund!

Good Road Map........2005-07-11

This book aims straight at the roots of growth. In the beginning of the book, the author first helps you determine at what stage of the cycle your company is in, then he tells you what your focus should be, such as sales for a start-up, and establishing systems once sales are stable. Very sensible.
The author then goes on to explore general strategy themes, but each chapter has at least a few gems.
I recommend the book for your library shelf. Each re-read will provide you with helpful wisdom.

Jim Wood's book is for every person who has considered, is considering, or should consider taking themselves and their business above and beyond. Wood approaches the topic of "how to grow" as if he and you were sitting next to one another on an airplane. Good for General Information, But Isn't Up-to-Date.......2005-01-09

Epstein has an ambitious goal: to produce a tax book that lives beyond April 15th as a handy guide to tax planning. Epstein is only partially successful. Information on various tax credits has been made less useful by numerous changes in the tax code. Her information on the tax aspects of divorce and running a business are much more useful and perennial.

Epstein is challenged by the same problems that plague all tax books: an ever-changing tax code. Nonetheless, the basics of tax planning aren't going to change anytime soon, and so Epstein's book is a good place to start for information on personal exemptions, standard and itemized deductions, tax credits for children and education, tax planning and retirement, taxes and divorce, and various business expenses. Excellent binding (hasn't fallen apart yet, despite constant reference), excellent page layout, and helpful index.

Tons of useful information for a small price.......2003-03-10

Before I had even finished skimming "The Complete Idiot's Guide to Tax Breaks and Deductions" I found it was so useful I sent an email to a friend who was starting a small business and suggested she buy it.

Lita Epstein has put a TON of useful information in a small package that is well organized for finding answers to your questions.

Worth the money, but not what I was looking for..........2000-04-01

If you're looking for an overall review of the tax laws and certain exemptions, this book is good. Since filling out my taxes, I've discovered it's not perfectly clear about which forms you need, but helpful. (I only missed one form of six.) BUT, if you're looking for a book that gets down to the nitty-gritty on tax deductions that you can take, covering one's you didn't know existed -- keep looking. This book is pretty basic. I will admit, it did help me with my first time of doing LOTS of paperwork.

Informations in this book worth 10 times its price and more........1999-03-26

It was a little hard to follow the categories, but this book answered every question I had about tax deductions.(And, I had a LOT of them.) It's impossible to rely completely on an accountant when it comes to deductions because there can be hundreds of potential write-offs. This book educated me and helped me find things that I would have overlooked.(and, saved me money!)
