Tiger Heart Tiger Mind is a book that will connect your head with your heart and motivate you to move past your doubts and fears and on to the life you most desire. I've read lots of motivational self-help books that just haven't worked, but this book is very different in rhe way that it wakes the reader up to their inborn right to live their best life. My favorite out of the 3 Maida Heatter books I own........2002-12-19

This is the first book I bought from Maida Heatter, and the one I keep coming back to. This really is a compilation of her best. Of everything I have made here (almost everything in the book I have tried), I only disliked one or two recipies. Her other books... Cakes and the New Cookie book, have a much worse ratio. If you ever want to have just one dessert book this will be the one to own. Start with the chocolate cake chapter, and you will never want to give this book up.

Let me begin with the fact that many people I know "love" this book. I on the other hand do not. I have tried atleast 4 recipes all of which did not turn out the way they were suppposed to (after so many tries I place the book on a shelf and it can stay there). There are very nice discriptions throughtout the book and a nice dialogue but neither helped me or my frustrations. I am an accomplished baker and have never had the types of problems with recipes that I have had with this book. I would not say don't buy it as others have had great success with it. What I would recommend is to see if your library has it, try a few recipes and then decided if you can't live without it, before you buy it.

If you are new to option trading, this is a very good book. It explains all the different kinds of strategies and when to use them. Excellent book for an option trader to have in their library as a reference book.

This is a heavy duty options book but..........2007-10-08

This is a heavy duty options book but don't let this scare you off. The only prerequisite I would say you need is some basic options understanding/experience and you also need to be interested in learning more about options strategies. When I first got this book I thought "Wow! This reminds me of some of my economics text books from college." But I soon found this book to be well organized and chocked full of great information and far more interesting than any college text book.

I have to warn people that this is not a book to teach you the fundamentals of options trading. You need to have learned the basics already.

I won't go into all the details of what this book covers since many other posts have done that. But I do want to say I really like this book. It has now taken up permanent residence on my desk because I use it so much.

I really enjoyed this book and continue to do so. As others have commented, it's not a cover-to-cover type of book, but I can reference any strategy so easily and get the salient information I need at the flick of a page.

I've also got the author's other book (Options Made Easy) and there's something different about the way he explains the subject of options that I previously found much more difficult and now find remarkably easy. Great book.

Great reference, full of errors.......2007-09-15

This book is an excellent reference book for options traders, novice and experts. It describes in great detail most of the strategies for trading options. I like the structure and the organization of the book. It helps easily locate a stragety based on several criteria, like your trading expertice or your perception of where the underlying stock is going.

I'm dissapointed at the amount of errors in the book. I've only read 2 chapters so far and have found, not only mispelled words, but errors related to the description of the strategy, risk and reward calculations and inverted names (call instead of put, for example).

If not for the errors, I would have given 5 stars to the book.

Technical Alanlysis "Bible".......2007-09-11

A large volume that covers just about anything you want to know about charting. I was most interested in Elliott Wave info and it has a good section about EW. For the options trader, this is the book to study.

Mr.Williams never ceases to amaze me. He has done a phenomenal job of putting this compendium together. He doesn't get bogged down in trivial mathematics. He makes futues accessible to the lay person. I have been trading futures as an investor and broker for the past 11 years. ... With my experience I find it is very important that new investors feel like futures is accessible. Mr.Williams does that in all of his books. The is definitely a great reference guide.

Some good info.......2007-06-11

I couldn't give it 5 stars because I haven't finished the book yet, about 1/2 way through. But if it keeps on track it should be a 5 star book. I've learned quite a few things in the first half of the book. He goes over projecting moves from trend lines, trend angles, validity and exhaustion. Doing the same for rectangles and most of the other patterns. I've skimmed over other parts and he talks about pin bars, which I have to say are one of the more reliable patterns. I would say it's the best book on the subject I've read so far. Although I have encountered a few free sites that are easier to read because they cut out all the fluff and get to the grit of the matter even giving percentage of success etc. However, over all I would rate it as a must read.

This is an extended version of the some parts of the author's book "Technical Analysis Explained", especially the parts on chart patterns. Nothing much added to this subject by thicking those parts of the above book. These parts are better presented (brief and short) in the original source.

Pleasantly surprised..........2005-03-30

I have to say that I am pleased by the information presented in this book, which is organized and presented well. I've read quite a few texts on the subject, by Elder, Tharp, Link, Weinstein, and so on (which are must-reads, by the way), and so this particular text served to complement and enhance the knowledge and skills that I already posessed.

Pring doesn't provide any magic answers here -- and you shouldn't expect any. He simply discusses topics that any aspiring investor/speculator/trader should be intimately familiar with. If you feel you already know everything there is to know about price and volume patterns, trend lines, support/resistance, basic western-style formations, etc..., then this book probably isn't for you. However, if you want to brush up on the subject with a text that presents this information well, then this is not a bad way to go.

If You Invest, Buy This Book!.......2007-06-10

Jim Otar first came to my attention when I read his article explaining variable annuities with guaranteed minimum withdrawal benefits in the Advisor's Edge Report.

It so impressed me with its cogency, and clarity that I wanted to read more of this author's thinking. So I bought his book, "High Expectations & False Dreams".

I read it completely on the day it arrived, and was only slightly disappointed.

The same logic I saw in his article pervades Mr. Otar's book. In it he applies such investment concepts as asset allocation, dollar-cost averaging, and cyclical investing to one hundred years of stock market history.

A lot of mathematical analysis went into the results, but he graphs them all to produce an easy read.

I was most impressed with his "Fingerprinting" of mutual funds to discover which funds to keep (or buy), and which to drop (or ignore). He explains this technique in such a way that it is easily reproduced by anyone familiar with spreadsheets. An important benefit, as you will want to keep tracking those you buy, so you know when to drop them.

In his wrap-up he tells which investment methods are the most potent boosters of portfolio longevity.

I recommend this book to anyone who wonders if his investments will adequately sustain him during retirement, and how to keep them going as long as possible.

It's rigorously based on empirical data, which I found a more credible approach than any others on investing and retirement.

My only disappointment is that I wished he'd explained how to optimize the benefits of a RRIF, a Canadian retirement device. But as his book is intended for a wider audience than just Canadians, one can understand its omission.

As a financial planner with over half a century's experience I've read a lot of books about retirement and investing. This is the most believable of them all.

Today, a lot of people are convinced that economics is either not a rigorous disciplin or is too mathematically developped to be of any relevant, practical use. This beautiful book by Prof. Roger Guesnerie is a talentuous proof that those people are wrong. On the one hand, the book adheres to the standard of rigor that made, say, Debreu's Theory of Value world-famous. On the other hand, it shows that day-to-day questions of economic policy can be dealt with in an abstract framework, and yet receive pertinent answers. Is a reform incentive-compatible ? How would you evaluate the distributional effect of a given tax system ? What kind of social efficiency can you hope for when designing a new tax system ? All these fascinating questions, and many others, receive rigorous and new answers in this book. The tools used are: general equilibrium theory, game theory, public economic theory. The book will serve as a reference for any academic people working in economics, of course, but will also be of great interest for social ingeneers seeking for a precise vision of social reforms.

lincoln by his own words.......2002-09-05

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. In particular, I thought the author gave us a unigue look into the selection of a President's cabinet. Also, Lincoln's ups and downs with the various General's during the Civil War was clearly depicted. The conversations with approach is a good one that is vastly different than the normal biography.
