I am a school teacher and my district required me to write a book review and comment on the most inspiring aspects of this text. Only problem is, I am not mill worker with a feeble mind; last time I checked I had a real college degree. The prose of this book insults me, explaining large vocabulary words and always dumbing elements down. The analogy of this book insults me, it's written like a children's book that children would hate to read. I am far less inspired to work hard knowing that my supervisors weren't willing to inspire me themselves and instead gave me homework to do. I do not recommend this book.

Not quite what I expected.......2007-01-16

To start with, this book does have some very good recipes. However, I bought it before Christmas because I wanted to give oils and vinegars as gifts. The book advises against leaving in herbs and other food in the containers. So while they may taste good, they aren't very visually appealing. Also this book is very very small... I'd say a little bit larger than the palm of my hand, I thought the book would be larger with pictures.

I bought this book to learn more about oil infusion recipies. Not only does it have a good amount of interesting ones to try, but it also has great ones for vinegar infusions as well. I have made several batches already with fresh herbs from my garden and they have been great. This books also contains lots of information on how to's and safety as well.

I bought this book for my father for father's day because he is a vinegar fanatic. I thought it was a book on the top 50 vinegars you could buy, but it isn't that. It is a book on how to make what the author considers the best flavored vinegars and oils. I was sort of disappointed, but after glancing through the book with my dad we found that the recipes sound really good. We are getting excited about trying out a few of the recipes for our own personal use. We even think that once we get it under control we may be able to use them as gifts to friends. We hope they taste as good as they sound and look. Even though it wasn't exacty what I expected it turned out okay, and the variety of recipes from vanilla oil to fruit vinegar will keep my dad experimenting for a while.

Are you getting NASD series 7 registered? For quick references and review this book will make a wonderful addition to your study materials. It's definitely a keeper.

Average primer but badly needs an update.......1999-08-29

For the average newcomer to investing this is an OK book, but it does focus alot on subjects you probably do not need to know unless you plan on working for a brokerage firm. It does give good descriptions and examples of all the security instruments (stocks, bonds, options, futures, etc.) but it accounts for only about 50% of the book. The rest is in my opinion redundant to the lay-person and is in places woefully out of date (especially the taxation section). If updated, I would rate this a 4, but given the age of the text, I would recommend looking elsewhere for an introduction to financial markets.

Superior intro to financial terms, processes, & instruments.......1998-08-03

If you're new to the financial world and want to understand the lingo, terrain, and equipment of pure capitalism, this book is for you. Don't let the 1991 publication date fool you. Aside from some out-of-date tax information in a later chapter, this book packs an amazing amount of useful financial clues and explanations. One of the strongest features of this text is its use of examples. Whether it's options, futures, or IPOs, the authors provide number-based scenarios to guide the reader towards understanding. This book will not excite you or show how to make $2 million in the stock market. It will help you understand many of the financial instruments which comprise capitalism.

Must Reading.......2002-03-10

I have jusr finished reading Mike Levy's book,INVESTING WITH A GENIUS. It is written in simple concise language that anyone can understand. As a long time investor, I highly recommend this book to anyone remotely interested in investments. It is a must reading for secondary school as well as college students. This type of investment book fills a niche was very much needed.

Michael Levy's book "Invest with a Genius" is a compelling read that provides the reader with an understanding of what true wealth actually means to them, and, how that wealth can be attained in a joyous manner.

It clarifies the meaning of the terminology associated with the wealth generation process and helps the reader to understand not only who the Genius is, but also, where the Genius can find the information required to attain that true wealth.

The influence of ethics on the decisions of persons is discussed within the context of mutual influences of one person on another. Can you really sign you tax forms with a clear conscience?.......1999-03-31

It should bother any thinking person that such an elaborate guide is needed just to go on living with some degree of assurance that the IRS isn't going to knock down your door and destroy your life.

You cannot learn all you need to know to master the tax code, for it cannot be mastered. The IRS doesn't understand it either, they depend on force to extract 1.7 trillion dollars from a public suffering from fear and ignorance.

If you want to really learn something, study the new book by Sheldon Richman "Your Money Or Your Life." It's revolutionary!

Clear and helpful.......1999-02-19

The American Express Tax Guide 1999 makes sense of the 1999 tax code, with clear, practical suggestions. I filled my copy with penciled notes and sticky tabs. It will definitely be my reference when I sit down to do my taxes. Plus, the price of the book itself is tax deductible, according to "Commonly Overlooked Deductions" # 47, page 642! ("Tax preparation fees [are deductible] including the cost of this book in the year that you bought it.")

Best book yet for do it yourself tax payers.......1998-01-30

This American Express tax guide is the best 1998 tax guide yet for "do it yourself" tax preparers. I find it easy to locate the help I need. The little tips and good ideas on each page really help. It's well worth the low price to get the forms and the explanations.

If you saw a missional church, what would it look like? What patterns of behavior and practice would you find there? Building on the ground laid by the book Missional Church: A Vision for the Sending of the Church in North America (Darrell Guder et al. 1998), this book centers on case studies of nine missional congregations from across North America that are diverse in their denominational affiliations, worship styles, political stances, and socioeconomic backgrounds. The book explores eight concrete "patterns" common to these churches. Although the patterns may be different in each setting, they can be recognized in any congregation seeking to participate in God's mission in the world. The team that authored this book believes that "missional" says something not so much about the activities of the church as its character: "The church does not exist for itself, but for participation in God's mission of reconciliation... Mission is the character of the church in whatever context it exists." The congregations studied here are "clay jars," but each carries in its witness a remarkable treasure that points to God's power and purposes.

Excellent practical missional church resource.......2006-03-22

This book gives some very good practical insights into the Missional Church movement. The examples come from a variety of churches in a variety of contexts. The principles or practices of missional churches are described and explained in real live church contexts. I'm reading this with my session (leadership board) now. So far folks seem to be tracking pretty well, but still some translation is needed to the lay reader. At least that is true in my situation.

It is an attractive book both inside and out. I first sought out the stories of the people I knew personally, then I went back and eagerly read them all. It's a "good read" and a fine gift idea.
