Not What I Expected!.......2006-12-06

WARNING: THIS BOOK IS NOT WRITTEN BY WILLIAM D. WARREN, RENOUNDED HUMORIST AND AUTHOR OF HOW TO DIE: OR THE GOOD GATSBY.
I saw this book for sale, and even though it was $100.00 I thought, 1000 pages by William D. Warren, who also goes by Wm. Douglas Warren, I will buy that for $100.00. No, no. It was a tragic mistake. While I was hoping for outrageous comedy and a laugh a minute narratives, all I got was a book about case studies and stuff legal issues. I guess I should have been tipped off by the name, but Warren is known for his subtleties, (as well as his not so subtleties), so I thought maybe it was just some joke I didn't get. NOPE! If you want a book about law and stuff, buy this one, but if you want a good book, buy How to Die: or The Good Gatsby.

Revised 9.......2006-02-06

The revised UCC has not been adopted by most states, and the Revised 9 is only adopted by less than 10 states to date. So depending on where you are from, this book may be either helpful or a bit frustrating. The previous buyer's review is missing this crucial bit of info.

Pain, Pain, and More Pain.......2003-10-24

I assume you're buying this book becasue you are taking Secured Transactions. I'm sorry. This book is bad. All of the cases deal with old 9 not revised 9 which is usually the current law. You'll read a case- understand it and then they'll say it all changed when they passed revised 9. Prepare to be confused. If you are a professor please be kind, don't force your students to use this book. Any other book has to be better.

This book provided me with a great blueprint for understanding what it takes to set and achieve any goal I set. On the following lines I have written out one of the paragraphs that Gary Ryan Blair includes in the very first commandment that made all the sense in the world to me. I hope you enjoy it.

"You are born with great capabilities, but you will not achieve your potential until you call upon yourself to fulfill it. You will rise to the occasion when it presents itself. Yet, to assure self-fulfillment, you must provide occasions to rise to. Clearly defined goals allow you to travel toward another horizon that represents the end of one experience and the transition to a new and better existence. The objective is to choose the right goals, and then to create the necessary causes-the effects will follow!

Susan O'Brien has had an interest in natural foods and nutrition. She has used this interest to aid her in her own dietary needs. She had worked as a gourmet cook, cooking instructor, baker and as a consultant for food management, as well as medical education.

Each recipe is labelled as to what the recipe is free of, such as no dairy, no eggs, and no nuts, as well as being sugar-free and gluten-free. The recipes are easy-to-follow and are delicious.

This cookbook, also, does not have photographs or illustrations. There is a chapter on how to substitute sugar and wheat flour for other products, in an effort to increase creativity and independence. There is, also, a resource guide to help you find those hard-to-find ingredients.

Some of the delicious recipes you can find in this book are: Potato Scones, Blackberry Cobbler, Prosciutto and Veggies, Quinoa and Tofu, Chai Tea and Meatballs.

Finally, I don't have to give up great food to be healthy!.......2005-09-01

When I was diagnosed with gluten, wheat and egg allergies, I wasn't sure how I would survive. Initally, it was on rice, vegtables, and lean meats. Now, thanks to this cookbook, I can cook wonderful easy meals for myself and my guests. No one knows it's gluten and sugar free, because it all tastes so good.

I'm also a dermatologist and have begun recommending this cookbook to my acne, eczema and psoriasis patients with fantastic results. We don't even bother with the formal allergy testing. The patients try the diet for 3 wks, many of them are so much better, they are convinced to continue.

Healthy and Tasty.......2005-08-27

Because the explanations are thorough and easy to understand, I found the recipes to be uncomplicated and simple to prepare. One of the particularly beneficial features of the book is the variety of recipes offered. I was pleasantly surprised by how tasty healthy substitutions can be!

I would highly recommend this book to anyone with food allergies, parents of children with food-related behavioral difficulties, or those who simply want to follow a healthy lifestyle.

This is a great book for the beginner. I am just getting started in trading commodities and I am in the process of reading anything I possible can on the subject. I wish I read Trading 101 first.

Before you get those training wheels . . ........2003-09-03

If you know absolutely nothing about trading, this is a good place to start. However, don't expect to make any money without a great deal more work. Ms. Harris does a pretty good job of listing the things that need to be done before starting to trade, but doesn't treat any single topic in sufficient detail to really cover it. That said, this is still a pretty good book, as long is it is viewed as a study guide, and not the real text.

A Good Introduction to Trading.......2002-05-05

I have found this book somewhat simplistic and out of date. However, as a book written for the newcomers I think the author has covered the subject matter quite well and especially in pointing out the importance of extensive education required, a good trading system and money management skills. No illusion had been created in misleading the reader to think that making money in the market is quick and easy(as many other authors have done). This is very important.

As the author has stated: "You will learn about the existence of of concepts, but will not learn the concepts in depth. You will, however, learn where to look for information on each of these concepts, so that you may explore in-depth and develop your knowledge base further..."

It does NOT show you the nitty gritty details of "How to Trade Like a Pro". Like the cover: suitable for an intro book on the matter!

Covers nothing.......2000-01-28

Even if you no idea of what the financial markets are about DO NOT BUY this book. It introduces various things, but covers nothing in depth. The only positive aspect (for me) of this book is that the author discusses trading software and systems, but even this, like every thing else, is just a pointer to where one can find more information. If you want to learn about the market in general look somewhere else. If you want to learn about fundamental analysis vs. technical analysis, specific trading methods, or anything other than what a dope on the street could tell you do not buy this book.

They are the best-represented group in our nation's capital; they operate more Political Action Committees; and their lobbyists are among the most experienced political operatives. Yet firms are uncertain about their political power and hence about the effectiveness of their political strategies. Sandra Suárez looks at the efforts of business to influence government policy in a detailed study of the efforts of major American corporations to protect the tax credit applicable to profits from investments in Puerto Rico. This rare longitudinal case-study explores the abilities of U.S. pharmaceutical and electronics companies to adapt their political strategies to a fluid and uncertain political environment. Drawing on interviews with tax lawyers, corporate lobbyists and government officials, the author follows the behavior of the same group of companies over the past twenty years.

This book advances a learning-based explanation of business political behavior, which argues that past political experience accounts for patterns of political behavior that government structures and salient issues alone cannot explain. Centered on attempts to protect an important tax break for business, the possessions tax battles provide an appropriate case for examining the value of the business learning approach.

Edmund Booth was born in 1810 and died in 1905, and during the 94 years of his life, he epitomized virtually everything that characterized an American legend of that century. In his prime, Booth stood 6 feet, 3 inches tall, weighed in at 210 pounds, and wore a long, full beard. He taught school in Hartford, CT, then followed his wife-to-be Mary Ann Walworth west to Anamosa, Iowa, where in 1840, he built the area’s first frame house. He pulled up stakes nine years later to travel the Overland Trail on his way to join the California Gold Rush. After he returned to Iowa in 1854, he became the editor of the Anamosa Eureka, the local newspaper. Edmund Booth fit perfectly the mold of the ingenious pioneer of 19th-century America, except for one unusual difference — he was deaf.

Edmund Booth: Deaf Pioneer follows the amazing career of this American original and his equally amazing wife in fascinating detail. Author Harry G. Lang vividly portrays Booth and his wife by drawing from a remarkable array of original material. A prolific writer, Booth corresponded with his fiancé from the American School for the Deaf in Hartford, and he kept a journal during his days on the California trail, parts of which have been reproduced here. He also wrote an autobiographical essay when he was 75, and his many newspaper articles through the years bore first-hand witness to the history of his times, from the Civil War to the advent of the 20th century.

Edmund Booth depicts a larger-than-life man in larger-than-life times, but perhaps its greatest contribution derives from its narrative about pioneer days as seen through Deaf eyes. Booth became a respected senior statesman of the American Deaf community, and blended with his stories of the era’s events are anecdotes and issues vital to Deaf people and their families. Edmund Booth, Pioneer.......2005-03-31

I read this book for an ASL II class, and it was certainly interesting, if a little dry, like many biographies are. If you are intersted in Deaf culture and White early to mid 1800's history, then you may enjoy this book. Its certainly the story of a "renaissance" man who wanted to see America, and his connections and contributions to a changing and evolving Deaf community at that time period. Certainly look for it as a used book or at the library before buying; its a decent book, but not worth the list price.
