A good law book.......2000-05-28
The first time laid my eyes on this book; to tell you the truth I was a bit frightened. I was expecting a very complex law book that would take me more than one pass over the material in order for me to get the material. This was not the case, the book really made the subjects easy to understand and the writers made the book very easy to read. The tables and diagrams also make the book even better for those of us that are more of the visual learner types. I would recommend this book.

Excellent Introductory to Business Law.......2000-07-07
Professor J. Bagby is a business law professor in Penn State. This book is full of up-to-date and interesting examples and cases that illustrate the major concepts and rules of law. Like other business law textbooks, this is quite a heavy book and the contents are quite intense. No matter whether you are purchasing this book for a class, or read it as a reference, this is a good book to get.

Developing the Entrepreneurial Spirit.......2006-05-25
"Your personal growth is your core asset and therefore has the most leverage. Making a small investment in your growth can lead to extremely large dividends over time in both personal growth and your other assets." ~Michael Simmons
Michael Simmons founded his first business, Princeton WebSolutions when he was only 16. He has written numerous articles about student entrepreneurship and they have appeared in College Bound Magazine and Whizteens in Business. His unique perspective appeals to young audiences and in The Student Success Manifesto he guides students towards a success frame of mind.
The list of successful college-age individuals is worth the price of the book. He lists companies like Hershey Foods, Dell, Federal Express and Subway. There are many more examples and he also includes a list of statistics like: "Over 50% of millionaire entrepreneurs never finished college."
Some of the highlights include:
The Fifteen Endeavors
Core Challenges
Elimination of Obstacles
Competitive Advantage
Rituals you can ignore to Excel
Michael Simmons seems wise beyond his years as he explores possibility and writes about following your passion and embracing learning for personal growth. The Student Success Manifesto contains some of the best ideas I've ever seen for pursuing a life of prosperity and success. The ideas are logical, the points well organized and the format intellectually appealing.
~The Rebecca Review
parents - READ THIS BOOK before letting you child read it!.......2005-08-02
The basic ideas underlying this book - that people should follow their dreams, work at what they enjoy, don't blindly follow the crowd, etc., are unquestionably good ideas. But the expressions of these ideas as espoused by Mr. Simmons in this book should give every parent pause.
Some examples - in the introduction he talks about African rituals such as putting a child's hand in a bag of ants as a ritual of becoming an adult. He then proceeds to directly equate this with the 'ritual' of attending school. His intended argument is that one should not consider oneself a 'bad person' because of poor performance in school. Feeling good about poor performance might be the politically correct thing to do these days, but I don't think it's the message most parents want their child to receive from a book such as this.
A couple of pages later a list of facts is presented that show that failure in school is not a 100% reliable predictor of failure in life. True enough, but all this is presented in a context that seems to say its OK not to study, that its OK to fail if you don't like school.
He further goes on to say that an education is becoming less and less valuable over time as evidenced by the idea that a high school education used to set one apart, then a college degree was required, and "this transition from the respected to the expected is now occurring with the master's degree." Similarly, "internships have become devalued" as more and more people get them. I could not disagree more. In today's environment where people compete globally, more and more education is required just to complete.
Among many other similar examples, one in particular stands out. In chapter 12, the case of Jubair Chowdhury of a company named Sybess Technologies (a web address is given, but the company apparently no longer exists) is presented. Mr. Chowdhury decided that, in order to save time and get into business right away, he would drop out of school, get a G.E.D., "focus on his business for a few years, and then go on to college." The author says that he "like[s] this path because it bypasses paying dues (high school)". While I may be wrong, my guess is Mr. Chowdhury probably now wishes he had stayed in school.
There is some good information in the book about networking, the value of compund interest, and other basic concepts. However, most of these can be found in many other books that do not proclaim themselves to be "extreme."
I bought this book with high expectations that it would give my teenage son some good ideas about life and living. I was very disappointed. This is pushing young people in the wrong direction. Yes, entrepreneurship and "extreme endeavors" are vitally important to the future of this country, and we need more people to adopt these attitudes. But this book is on the wrong tack when it disavows the value of education.
I am having my son read "The Seven Habits of Highly Successful People" instead.
Just What I needed.......2005-06-23
There are certain times when you are feeling down and out and feel really lost. I equate it to someone who is running a marathon and they get to the final mile, it is the hardest mile by far, you start to stumble, you start to lose your will to push forward even though you know you are almost to the finish line you feel like you have no more left and you begin to fall...
It was at this point in my life when I was lucky enough to be given a Copy of Mr. Simmons book. A friend gave it to me when I was in a down point in my life. I read it and I was completely revived with new energy and a new want to pursue my dreams. As a college student, The Student Success Manifesto made me realize how many opportunities I have as a student and how to best capitalize on them. With his simple straight to the point writing style I was able to breeze through the book at a pace I didn't think possible. In 2 days I was finished reading the book and that is completely unheard of for me to do. The advice and wisdom that Michael gave me allowed me to find a mentor in one of my school's professors who is a very successful self-made millionaire, from there I was inspired to start my own business, www.theplacefinder.com, a business geared towards college students. I got involved with SIFE and now have an internship with one of the largest CPG companies in the world.
Not only is Michael's book amazing, Michael is amazing himself. I wrote him letting him know my appreciation for his book and how it changed my perspective on the world and he was kind enough to meet with me to discuss being an extreme entrepreneur in person!
This Book is by far what every student who is serious about success must read. The principals and fluidity of his words makes you realize that YES, SUCCESS is not only possible, it's possible for ME!
If anyone has gotten to read through my entire mammoth of a review, I hope you take my words seriously and read this book, it will change your life for the better guaranteed! And that we all want, isn't it?
A must read to get your mind right for success.......2005-06-20
As I read the Student Success Manifesto things seemed to fall into place for me. Although a cliché, it was as if the words on the page were speaking to me. Growing up, so much emphasis was placed on getting high grades to get into a good school so I could eventually get a good job. About half way through my college career I realized that there was more to life than that. I realized that I did not NEED a job, if I could create my own business. I quickly learned many lessons running my own business and through my business experiences was able to create a vision for myself. Although I went off in this direction, I felt very alone because I did not know many entpreneurs and everyone I spoke to kept telling me the same thing... go to school, get good grades and get a job and that was how my success was measured. I wish I had this book at my disposal at the time I was going through this because this book measures student success in other ways and encourages students to pursue what they are passionate about. While society tells you to pursue what society deems "normal" and "acceptable", the Student Success Manifesto encourages students to create and pursue their OWN vision.
The Student Success Manifesto points out how significant it is that students think of themselves as ME, Inc. I never really thought of it this way before but everyone understands that a business is a financial asset yet often we do not look at ourselves as an asset. This book illustrates the importance of thinking of yourself as an asset and building your Brand. The book describes many different ways to build your Brand through relationships, personal development and growth, money, health etc. I think this is one of the most important messages addressed in this Manifesto. You can build your own brand and Me, Inc. to unreachable heights through networking, building relationships and continuous self development.
The Student Success Manifesto is for the student who dares to be great. So often students have great ideas and visions which may appear as extreme endeavors. As a result, when they share these ideas with others they often receive negative feedback and are deterred from their vision. The Student Success Manifesto embraces extreme endeavors and encourages you to pursue these activities. The book shows many ways that you can leverage yourself and your assets to achieve what you want in life. In a nutshell, the Student Success Manifesto will inspire you to create your own vision, and pursue your passions which will enable you to lead a life of prosperity.
A Real Manual For Self-Actualization.......2005-06-11
Mr. Simmons' book provides higher-order-insight along with rubber-meets-the road applicability. Forward thinking people of all ages would benefit from this text. This book can help people with ownership of their own identity and lives and help them on their own road to personal fulfillment.
While this book is meant for younger people, its lessons possess a lifetime of value.

Still one of the best ..........2006-12-05
This is still one of the best Thai cookbooks and I've been collecting them for years - not Americanized, uses real Thai ingredients - a delight!
The Best Thai Cook Book.......2004-01-05
I had the pleasure of taking a cooking class from Kamolmal Pootaraksa in August of 1986. I have tried almost all of the recipes in the book with success as long as I keep to the instructions. Kamolmal comes from Bangkok Thailand where her family has owned and operated a Thai restaurant for 3 generations. She placed a lot of care in the cooking class and also in her cookbook. She sincerely wants Americans to learn the secrets of Thai cuisine. I'm ordering 2 more books to keep in case I loose my original. It is the only book I do not loan out to anyone.
Best of thai books I have.......2003-12-11
I have many thai cookbooks and have been cooking thai for years. This is my favorite thai cook book.
Thai favorites.......2001-11-17
This unassuming paperback is my favorite Thai cookbook. It explains clearly and simply the common ingredients, where to get them and how to handle them. The basic curries are an aromatic delight while assembling, and my dinner guests always give the final results rave reviews. The cooking techniques are clearly explained and easy to follow. What more can you ask from a cookbook? Well, beautiful photos of food presentations, I suppose--but I'm usually disappointed with the results of those cookbooks!
Make this your first Thai cookbook!.......2000-12-15
I have five Thai cooking books and this is by far my favorite. It has easy to follow instructions with descriptions of desired results, such as "stir fry until golden brown but not crispy", instead of "stir fry 5-7 minutes". Most all of the recipes I've tried are delicious and I return to them time and time again. And all of the ingredients required are easily available at your asian market. This isn't the newest Thai cookbook out there, but it's the best one I've tried.
Book Description
A 192 page guide to trading physical commodity markets such as wheat, corn, cattle, crude oil and more than a dozen other markets on the futures exchanges of Chicago and New York. Appropriate for both beginning as well as experienced traders, this book describes in detail how the author, Angelo Namrevo, went from losing trade after trade to winning trade after trade. In the back of his book you will find copies of actual brokerage statements showing his $5,000 account growing to $11,735 in 4 months' time through 17 successive winning trades.
Mr. Namrevo does not guarantee this will be every reader's experience, but certainly each reader will understand why he switched from standard commodity trading approaches to an unconventional approach known as "scale trading." Every technique the author used to accomplish 17 successive winning commodity trades is explained in detail, including: how to know which markets to trade and which to stay away from; how to determine exactly when to buy and when to sell; and how to trade without daily charts or computers.
Some unsolicited comments from readers include:
"I love your approach to trading, and I know full well that with proper money management and controls (as you know to do per your writings and analysis), traders could and should become long-term accounts instead of here today and gone tomorrow." [J.C., a futures broker who started in 1977.]
"I read The S.I.M.P.L.E. System in one sitting and couldn't put it down. It was funny, informative, fast paced, and thoroughly enjoyable!" [J.K.]
"I applaud your insight...Congratulations on a most interesting and well-written book." [R.C.]

The previous review was blatantly induced by the author. Please be aware of this.
What is SIMPLE?.......1999-01-27
In this book he never really puts together what SIMPLE really means . The story about how he became a trader are a little hard to believe. He couldn't recognize that he was being scammed twice, turning his life upside down then all of a sudden he understands the futures market in a few months . He had such a brief trading history and then writes a book about a technique that is not exclusive . Much too pricey for the content!
The best book on commodities........1998-09-15
Throw away all your other books on commodity investing. This is the only book you will ever need. The book is easy to understand, and it works! Most commodity investors- about 90% lose money. With this system 100% of the investors will make money. Just stick with the system. It is easy, no technical analysis and fancy shmancy mathematics. All you need is a little bit of money , discipline to stick with the system, and patience. I have made money with this system every time. And I will use this system for the rest of my life, because it makes money every single time. It is the best book on commodities there is. I am not buying any other books because they don't work. This book tells you how to make money and it takes very little of your time.

This book instructs investors how to win the investment war........1997-11-26
Common Stocks - Lifetime Prosperity is a rare book. It explainshowinvestors and money managers really work and how ordinary people can thread their way out of Wall St.'s traps. The book is aimed at an intelligent readership readership that has serious money to invest; it has no jargon or complex formulas. It carries a significant message. It is clearly written and easy to understand. It can be read in one sitting or many.
The book tells investors whom and what to avoid and how to profit consistently over a lifetime of investing. Best of all, it tells investors how not to lose. I wish I had known many years ago what this book says about mutual funds and foreign stocks. I would have kept a lot more money. Keep this book handy. Better still give a copy to your children before they start their 401ks or IRAs. They will thank you.

Book Description
On November 14, 2002, the 100th anniversary of the world famous Teddy Bear will be celebrated. The origin of the Teddy Bear stems from an occasion when President Theodore Roosevelt visited the wilderness of Mississippi in hopes of killing a black bear. He was guided on this hunt by Holt Collier, a former slave, Confederate veteran (yes-amazing though it sounds), Texas cowboy, Mississippi lawman, and noted pioneer. He is known to have killed over 3,000 bear in his lifetime, more than Daniel Boone and Davy Crockett combined. Roosevelt, who also hunted with Collier in Louisiana in 1907, called him "the greatest hunter and guide I have ever known."
Collier killed many white men, several in Mississippi. One exciting incident in his biography is a detailed description of the gunfight at Washburn's Ferry where Collier out-drew the notorious Louisiana outlaw Travis Elmore Sage. He was prosecuted only once-for the murder of a Union captain after the Civil War-but he was acquitted. Collier was famous nationally during his lifetime, but the racial atmosphere in Mississippi for the last eighty years kept his remarkable story from being told. There is no detailed and authoritative work on Holt Collier or the origin of the Teddy Bear other than this book.
Customer Reviews:
A Great Biography of a Little Known Historical Figure.......2007-10-16
Although this book would probably be considered politically incorrect by the black community because it relate Collier's devotion to the South and the Confederate cause, it fills a void that's long existed in telling the true history of Mississippi's past. This book takes us through Collier's entire life from slavery through his final years in retirement when he became invisible and forgotten in the annals of history. It also does a good job in telling the story of Teddy Roosevelt bear hunt that led to the creation of the "Teddy Bear" as a result of the Nast cartoon. And it tells us that the legend that grew out of that hunt was in many ways incorrect or an oversimplification of the event.
Minor Buchanan does not approach this as a quick book project to make a few bucks by assembling a collection of anecdotes he collected around the state. He poured all his free time into research for quite a long time before even getting to the point of putting together a cogent retelling of Holt Collier's life. I've had the pleasure of knowing Minor for some years and can say that I have seen how devoted he has been to this project and how much he likes to talk about the history of this unique individual, especially things that he learned that simply couldn't be fit into the book's written word.
Spellbinding!!.......2003-07-15
This is a must-read book for anyone interested in any of the following topics: African-American History, hunting, Theodore Roosevelt, Southern History, the Civil War, and William Faulkner. As an avid Faulkner reader, I cannot help but conclude that Holt Collier is the real-life person upon which the pivotal character of Sam Fathers is based. Beyond this observation, the book is well researched and is an excellent read. You will not be disappointed. HOLT COLLIER deserves a wide audience and should be assigned reading.
Amazing New Biography.......2002-12-24
Brilliantly written non-fiction biography using countless primary sources. An amazing new character never before presented to the general public. If this book had not been sent to me as a present I would have never heard of it. Apparently it has been sold only as a regional book, but I can assure any reader, it will have a national following in due course. Very highly recommended. Well worth the read. You will come away from this book thinking about it for weeks, and frankly, you will soon pick it up to read it again.
The Ultimate Man of the Delta.......2002-12-10
As a history major in college I developed a taste for the truth that can only be found in biographies. Over the years I have kept a small library in my home and under my bed to read at night, prior to retiring. The book by Mr. Buchanan is a detailed, accurate account of this man and his relationships to the men around him and his world. Being a product of the Mississippi Delta, I can see Holt Collier in the deep bayou's of the old Delta, hunting the bears. I admire the writer's style in his ability to place me there beside Holt all along the way in this book. There, in the realities of Holt's world, the reader walks his paths, thinks his thoughts, and feels the anger he feels.
Finally I would like to thank Mr. Buchanan for this effort and look forward to seeing more of his work in the future.
Phenomenally intriguing, accurate, and detailed........2002-11-07
Minor Ferris Buchanan excells in this historical document of Holt Collier: an ex-slave, Confederate soldier, and excellent big-game hunter. I found the portrayal of this very accomplished individual more intriguing and inspiring than any other Afro-American biography I've ever come across (including those of Frederick Douglass, Booker T. Washington, W.E.B. Du Bois, Jackie Robinson, Martin Luther King Jr., and Malcolm X)
I loved it!
Book Description
St. Martin's is proud to present a new and continuing series of the greatest classics in the literature of hunting and adventure, chosen from the personal library of writer and big game hunter Peter Hathaway Capstick. These showcase volumes will once again make available the true masterpieces of Africana to collectors, armchair hunters, sportsmen, and readers at large. The twenty-sixth president of the United States was also a world-renowned hunter, conservationist, soldier, and scholar. In 1908 he took a long safari holiday in East Africa with his son Kermit. His account of this adventure is as remarkably fresh today as it was when these adventures on the veldt were first published. Roosevelt describes the excitement of the chase, the people he met (including such famous hunters as Cunninghame and Selous), and flora and fauna he collected in the name of science. Long out of print, this classic is one of the preeminent examples of Africana, and belongs on every collector's shelf.
Download Description
This book reads like a loping conversation with Roosevelt about his safari in east Africa. He is full of dated opinions about native peoples, and the endless hunting scenes are not for vegetarians. All this said, it is a bully adventure book.

African Game Trails (Capstick Library).......2007-01-24
I purchased a copy of this book and am extremely disapointed with the quality of the photographs. They are so fuzzy and out-of-focus as to be useless--in some cases unrecognizable. I'm suprised that you offer such a poor quality volume for sale. I coresponded with the publisher and the nice young lady offered to send me another copy but added "I looked at the pictures and they're terrible." I replied that I already had one lousy copy and did not need another. You should check the quality of this volume carefully....it's terrible!
African Game Trails : An Account of the African Wanderings of an American Hunter-Naturalist .......2006-03-24
I cannot get enough of Teddy Roosevelt this man is unbelievable in all his accomplishment
as a hunter and naturalist a great American you must read his works.the book is five stars.

Classic African Safari Travel Narrative.......2002-11-22
In 1909, just after the end of his term as President, Theodore Roosevelt traveled to Africa for a year long safari. The trip was a major undertaking ; hundreds of porters were needed to carry his baggage. Roosevelt's son, Kermit came along, taking photographs which are reproduced in the book. Roosevelt and company bag hundred of animals. It appears that all hunting rules were suspended for the ex-president. Roosevelt and son are soon blasting away at anything and everything that comes into view. British East Africa is described in terms that make today's politically correct readers wince. Attitudes have changed dramatically in less than one hundred years. It is odd to hear Roosevelt describe parts of Africa as a "white man's country," suitable for large scale settlement by Europeans. The book bogs down and I was unable to read it without skimming through some parts. The descriptions of marching through wilderness and chasing after game on foot and on horseback seem to go on forever. There is a lot of great infomation here even if it is necessary to become your own editor by skipping though tedious parts.
A must read if you are going on safari.......2002-05-20
This book gives you the genuine flavor of safari 80 years ago.
Better than being there.......2001-11-24
Not being very good with a gun, having little outdoorsman skills, and not being in the best shape of my life, reading this book was better than being there. If I was there, I would miss the animals, I would be too tired to enjoy it, and besides all of that, Africa is not as it was 100 years ago.
I have just begun to reread this book, and I don't know how many times this is. I enjoy it each and every time I pick it up.
Amazon.com
It's no secret that America's most bully president was also its most bully outdoorsman and conservationist; what's often forgotten was how beautifully and authoritatively he wrote about the wilderness and his considerable experiences there. These two pre-White House narratives--Ranchman was originally published in 1885, Wilderness Hunter eight years later--are rich and vivid. The former chronicles Roosevelt's sojourns in the Dakota Badlands; the latter is an extended love letter to the pleasures and challenges of outdoor life. So what if some of his 19th-century ideas seem politically incorrect by the standards of the next century--magnificent prose is still magnificent prose. "Nowhere, not even at sea," writes the future First Hunter in one haunting passage, "does a man feel more lonely than when riding over the far-reaching seemingly never-ending plains ... [but] after a man has lived a little while on or near them, their very vastness and loneliness and their melancholy monotony have a strong fascination for him." By comparison, the isolation and weight of the Oval Office must have seemed like an afternoon stroll in the park.
Book Description
Written during his days as a ranchman in the Dakota Bad Lands, these two wilderness tales by Theodore Roosevelt endure today as part of the classic folklore of the West. The narratives provide vivid portraits of the land as well as the people and animals that inhabited it, underscoring Roosevelt's abiding concerns as a naturalist.
Originally published in 1885,
Hunting Trips of a Ranchman chronicles Roosevelt's adventures tracking a twelve-hundred-pound grizzly bear in the pine forests of the Bighorn Mountains. Yet some of the best sections are those in which Roosevelt muses on the beauty of the Bad Lands and the simple pleasures of ranch life. The British Spectator said the book "could claim an honorable place on the same shelf as Walton's
Compleat Angler."
The Wilderness Hunter, which came out in 1893, remains perhaps the most detailed account of the grizzly bear ever recorded. Introduction by Stephen E. Ambrose.

Hunting Trips of a Ranchman & The Wilderness Hunter.......2006-11-25
The prose of TR takes me back to a time in America, a time before my own, but a time that I so wish I could have experienced in the saddle alongside TR. While the prose may be somewhat dated, as an avid reader and author I find it refreshing and relaxing. I use the present tense of the verb because I never seem to tire of reading and reading TR's sagas of life on the plains and the pursuit of big game. Today such pursuit is mostly for sport and I am but one of many who enjoy this great adventure, even to its fullest. Life on his ranch in the Badlands however required such pursuit for sustinence and as such required patience and persistance in far greater excess than many of us today possess. Many who choose to pursue elk, mule deer or antelope could do far worse than to read and absorb the lessons of one of the great plainsmen of history.
Wonderful Read.......2004-12-25
I felt strongly enough to review this book from actually reading and owning the two original books which comprise this one collection.
Teddy Roosevelt came west after his first wife died to heal and in the plains he found the spirit which made the gentleman who would become a world leader.
Hunting Trips of a Ranchman is an early work of Roosevelt finding his way in writing. It is a wonderful historic work of the showing of the sportsman over the market hunter in America with all big game species detailed on his hunts, and, how Roosevelt felt that the virtue of freedom was based in Americans learning to experience stalking game, living in the wilds all to create the citizen soldier.
The Wilderness Hunter is my favorite for in this Teddy touches upon the prose of his soul and is the best work I have found so far in crafting a beautiful stories in the experience of hunting.
I have read this book twice and it is still the one I reach for to carry along in times to keep me company.
Wonderful Collection of Short Stories.......2000-10-24
This collection of Roosevelt's hunting trips and adventures puts you right out there with him, on the wild plains. The clarity of his descriptions and the easy way he takes you through his experiences has made this one of the most enjoyable books I have ever read. If you enjoy the wilderness, stories about the old west or just relaxing with a good book, this is a great choice.
Essays on animals and hunting trips by the future President.......2000-07-30
Roosevelt purchased two cattle ranches in present-day western North Dakota, and many times went out to hunt for sport or for "meat for the pot."
Hunting Trips of a Ranchman in effect provides essays on the description, behavior, habitat, and survival of several species known to the prairies and the distant forests and mountain ranges. He talks of wildfowl (grouse, etc), elk, buffalo, pronghorn antelope, bighorn sheep, white-tailed deer, black-tailed or mule deer, and finishes with Old Ephraim, the grizzly bear. All of these books are good for armchair readers who have never been to the western wildernesses or prairies, where these animals can be viewed with perseverance and patience.
Roosevelt speaks of elk as the most noble of the deer family and perhaps the most majestic of all animals (which I tend to agree). He speaks of the incredible speed but also remarkable (and sometimes fatal) curiosity of the pronghorn, who are able to outrun any foes and keep in the open to see them at long distance with their excellent vision. However, they run in a straight line to provide a fairly consistent target for a good marksmen. He speaks of the enjoyable hunting of both kinds of deer, the difficulty of approaching the haunts of the bighorn, and his big finale, one of the best accounts of hunting grizzlies that I have ever read. Roosevelt's respect for the bear's ferocity is manifest, almost amounting to an admitted dread, which shows his good sense.
If you are interested in the American wild, are curious about the habits and habitats of these large species, and are drawn to the hunting and outdoor mentality of the President who helped strengthen the national park system, this will be an entertaining read for you.
Interesting look at key point & place in US history.......1999-10-14
I enjoyed these books very much. They give an excellent overview not only of the flora and fauna of the north plains in the late 1800s, but also an interesting perspective on the people of the place and TR. The only drawback was the writing was a bit dated, and the two books were a bit overlapping in subject. Nonetheless, highly recommended to anyone interested in the outdoors, US history, and/or TR.

Fascinating Read.......2002-10-29
This book is definitely worthwhile for anyone interested in hunting, conservation, or just American history. Roosevelt was an astute observer of animal habits and habitat. He was concerned with wildlife conservation long before it was popular. You get a real sense of what a hunting trip was like back in the late 1890s.
What's more, he's not a half-bad writer. Unlike all of the modern politicians who "write" books--but actually just give some notes to a ghost writer who then does all of the real writing--Teddy actually wrote this book himself.
Outdoor Pastimes of and American Hunter.......1999-12-24
I have a copy of this original work, it is still as exciting now as when it was printed (1905). The chapter of wolf and coyote coursing alone is worth the price of the book. Read of the man who caught wolves and coyotes with his bare hands (ok he wore a glove). The hunts for sheep and goats in the Rocky Mts. as well as the chase of the deer in th badlands are all brought to life. Roosevelt was a keen sportsman and naturalist, he provides us a look at the American west at the turn of the century. I recommend this book for anyone who wants to know what hunting in the old west was like.
