Great Anthology.......2003-10-22

Heckler put together a beautiful anthology focusing on the role the body plays in a variety of different fields. Some of the essays were a bit too newagish for my taste, but overall the quality was very high. My main complaint is not with what is in the book but in what is out. In particular, I'm disappointed that Heckler did not include in this anthology an essay by Mr. Bolelli, a writer who published a book about philosophy and martial arts with the same publishing company. In Bolelli's book, On the Warrior's Path, he thanks Heckler in the acknowledgments so they obviously know each other, and one of the chapters of Bolelli's book is one of the best essays I have ever read on the role of the body in shaping our awareness. Too bad, because it would have worked well here. In any case, despite this, Heckler put together a brilliant anthology on a very interesting topic.

Interesting Book!.......2003-09-05

An interesting anthology of writers exploring somatics in a variety of setting including work and educational settings. Dr. Strozzi Heckler has compiled a great team of writers. I would recommend this book to anyone interested in somatics, coaching, OD work and/or psychotherapy.

Not a review of the book, but a tale about the author...............2005-08-26

Henry Weingarten is quite the character, and he was a fairly big influence on my later career as a trader. When I met him in the late 80's he was the head of the New York Astrology Center, but he ran a computer consulting service on the side. I was an independent computer consultant/programmer working as a subcontractor. Now here comes the good part.....when I went to my initial interview for a consultant position, instead of looking at my resume for even a second, Henry asked for my birth date and time! He then put the date and time into his computerized astrological program and ran his chart on me. I was amazed and a little amused as Henry and his partner read my chart, and offered me a position. Apparently something they saw in my chart impressed them enough to give me a job....but they wouldn't tell me what those characteristics were!

Soon after I began working with Henry, I would come into his office each morning, and find him with his portable Quotron attached to his hand, punching in figures and symbols into his computerized astrological-financial program, and barking orders to his broker on the phone! As I worked I made mental notes of Henry's trades. When I got home at night I would check the WSJ to see how he did. In most of his trading, Henry was doing well. By and large, the stocks he purchased went up and his short calls would usually fall! I started copying some of his long calls on my own, but never in such large quantities. Maybe a hundred or two of Electronic Arts, etc. I don't know how he did it, but according to my calculations, Henry consistently made money, and therefore I made money as well!

Granted, during the incredible bull run of the 90's, and before the tech meltdown of 2000, just about EVERY trader was making money! I have not read Henry's book, and therefore am unable to offer any recommendation, but it seems there is some method to his trading. My advice is watch the technical indicators, keep an eye on overall market sentiment, and develop a strong gut instinct for talented companies. Good luck......

I found the book interesting, you have to understand astrology to make it work. A friend of mine who is an astrologer astrologyguidance com site, has done astrology stock predictions with good results, so the concept works.

UNDERSTANDING FINANCIAL ASTROLOGY.......1999-05-09

This book is written by an Internationally recognized financial astrologer who over time has predicted correctly some of the most major events that have occurred such as the Asian crisis of 1997 which had dramatic affects on world sharemarkets.I personaly also subscribe to his email service and have found it invaluable.Mr Weingarten has always said that astrology along with fundamentals and technicals drive markets and he suggests people make their own decisions. By incorporating his system I have become a more successful trader and welcome a second book.

I would like to extend my appreciation of Henry Weingarten's book, "Investing by the Stars."

The book combines factual financial information with astrology, which adds a fascinating philosophical perspective to an otherwise mundane profession. I've only been in the business of selling book for several months. I've learned quite a bit through trial and error, mostly by my mistakes. If only I had known of this book before I began. It would have saved me much time and even more money. I loved the author's humorous style of writing and vast knowledge of the book selling business. It was because of this book that my business has escalated more than I ever thought possible. And she's right--there ARE enough books to go around for everyone. I've been so frustrated by trying to learn more information for my business. The forum on Amazon is not that helpful, because so many view anyone as the competition and thereby off limits to enlighten them. I've seen and read a lot of books about selling online and also read several about selling on Amazon specifically but this is the first one that I have seen that gave ALL of the knowledge needed. I haven't written a book review before, but I wanted to write a few words
about this guide. The book starts out with an inspiration section, which
really helps the reader understand what the opportunities are. The author
also gives specific figures about how much money can be made, using real
numbers from the life of the author and other people she knows, working
in the field. She then lays out a step-by-step plan,based on her experience and expertise, which is a very specific guide to making the
money you need. She gives real examples, uses a graph, and has an
interesting method of finding books worth money, so you don't have to
spend as much time selling lots of books to reach your goal.

This series by Dan Busby (both the Church & Nonprofit Organization Tax & Financial Guide and the Minister's Tax & Financial Guide) are a must have EVERY YEAR for anyone doing church finances, and payroll in particular. These books are especially helpful for non-accountants serving as church treasurers as they are written in plain English with little or no "accounting jargon". They are easy to read and understand and, more importantly, put into use. I also recommend them for tax preparers who have little or no experience doing returns for ministers. Even the best, most professional tax preparers can make mistakes on ministers' returns (I've seen it happen!) because of some of the strange tax codes particular to ministers.

good infor -w wrong analysis.......2006-05-16

While I admire the author of this book for his extensive use of Vietnamese sources, something you rarely see in a western book. There are two minor problems with this book that I did it for me. One, the author based lots of his analysis based on the book written by the author Cuu Long a synonym of some unknown writer with a grudge with the Diem regime. Also, although the author could not found anay evidence to determined who murdered General Trinh Minh The, the author made the assumption that President Diem was the murderer since he has the most to gain. The problem with this assumption is that the author missed an important group that has the far more to gain with General The's death than President Diem and that is the French-trained and French bred generals in the South Vietnamese Army that was falling out of favor with Diem because of General The.

Former comrades of General The' such as the prominent attorney Dinh Thach Binh believed that the French-trained and French bred generals in the South Vietnamese has the most to gained from General The's death and the one who murdered General The was General Duong Van Minh who later overthrow and murdered President Diem. Both Duong Van Minh and Do Mau were French trained generals who was falling out of favor with President Diem while General The who fought both the French and Vietminh was being courted and respected by Diem. It was jealousy and the lust for power that compeled Duong Van Minh to murdered General The and later President Diem.
