Book Description
Each year thousands of people dream of starting their own business, yet few can afford the legal fees associated with getting started. The How to Form a Corporation, LLC, or Partnership in . . . series leads entrepreneurs through the incorporating process in their own state. Complete with all of the necessary forms and step-by-step instructions, these books are the only state-specific incorporating guides available that include the regulations for starting a limited liability company or familiar partnership.
Book Description
"I've never read anything I've written," writes Stuart Avery Gold, co-author with Ron Rubin of the books in the Zentrepreneur Guides series. "Not after it's been published. Not once. Not ever." But when he and Rubin, the Ministers of The Republic of Tea, received a very well-worn copy of one of their books with a beautiful note from one of their readers, "it permanently altered my view," he explains, "forcing me, for the first time, surprisingly and stunningly to read a few of the jottings I've put down, not only with fresh eyes, but more importantly, through the eyes of another."
That reader had lovingly embraced the authors' words, isolating them, and marking them with a yellow highlighter. This inspired Ron and Stuart to look at their work and select 160 of the most inspiring passages and sayings they had written for the new book Wowisms: Words of Wisdom for Dreamers and Doers, a treasury of enlightenment that will open the heart and mind of readers to help them discover more about themselves, their potential, and their destiny. Inspirational Zen ink drawings of nature scenes complement the empowering messages that the authors offer in the proverbs of possibility they call "wowisms."
Among the collection of sage advice and enlightening wisdom, Rubin and Gold write:
Dream 10,000 dreams knowing that 10,000 dreams is only the beginning.
You are at all times sublime , each moment standing at the crossroads of what is and what can be.
Creating a stalwart, undaunted attitude is the single most important ingredient in your recipe for success.
At first there is no road. It's only when a person begins it that it exists for others.
Change, like the beauty of a flower, is ordinary activity.
Become a provocateur of potential. Dream big. Size matters. Dream wild. Boundlessness matters.
Knowledge enables you to forge ahead and do battle with the unknown.
Begin to believe you can move a mountain. Believe you can move others. Know you can move yourself.
Patience is continued effort
Success is not man-made. It's mind-made.
If you make each effort a masterpiece, know that the gods can do no better.
Wisdom is a weight that is carried easily.
When you seek your dream, you seek yourself.
Your mind, like the future, is only what you make of it.
"It is our fervent hope," Gold writes to the reader in his opening to the book, "that this gathering of Wowisms will ennoble your spirit, initiate your mind, and encourage an awakening that engages and guides you to embrace your fullest essence and unlimited potential." As Publishers Weekly noted in a recent article about the Zentrepreneur Guides series, "they're not just booksthey're a lifestyle." To which the authors add that the Zentrepreneur Guides are quite simply books that change attitudes. "And sometimes that is all it takes."

WOWisms is a WOW.......2004-07-17
Question-What can one say about a book that was written to give hope, inspiration and motivation? Answer-Buy it, read it and read it again, over and over. Better still, share its existence with others. That's what I'm doing.
MORE THAN WORDS.......2004-07-13
Wowisms the reader quickly learns are more than words of wisdom, they are thoughts that instigate further thoughts that the reader can use as door openers to enter the world of success. This small mind provoking book is full of big ideas that will inspire you to achieve greatness in the workplace and in life. I enjoyed every page.
The How of WoW.......2004-06-08
This small book is the biggest volume of motivation one could possibly ask for. Real, down to earth direction and support from authors who have discovered what it takes to live a dream life. I highly recommend this book!

Book Description
Typical books about preserving garden produce nearly always assume that modern kitchen gardeners will boil or freeze their vegetables and fruits. Yet here is a book that goes back to the futurecelebrating traditional but little-known French techniques for storing and preserving edibles in ways that maximize flavor and nutrition.
Translated into English, and with a new foreword by Deborah Madison, this book deliberately ignores freezing and high-temperature canning in favor of methods that are superior because they are less costly and more energy-efficient.
As Eliot Coleman says in his foreword to the first edition, Food preservation techniques can be divided into two categories: the modern scientific methods that remove the life from food, and the natural `poetic' methods that maintain or enhance the life in food. The poetic techniques produce... foods that have been celebrated for centuries and are considered gourmet delights today.
Preserving Food Without Freezing or Canning offers more than 250 easy and enjoyable recipes featuring locally grown and minimally refined ingredients. It is an essential guide for those who seek healthy food for a healthy world.
Customer Reviews:
Amazing Book!.......2007-10-09
This book provides great information on traditional food preservation techniques that are fast being forgotten. The recipes yield some incredible tastes--try the pickled garlic--and practical ways to extend the life of your garden produce with its beneficial nutrients intact. Definitely a must for the serious organic gardener!
Useful information.......2007-08-25
This book is an excellent source of information and techniques. It is clearly written and the recipes are really easy to follow. A must have for any serious home preserver.
Excellent Recipes.......2007-06-08
This book has just what I wanted: Some simple, low-cost, low-energy ways of preserving food. I will be using these techniques extensively this summer and fall.
A 'must' for collections strong in either cooking or ecological living........2007-06-04
The usual book on preserving garden produce assumes boiling or freezing vegetables or fruits will take place - but Preserving Food Without Freezing or Canning: Traditional Techniques Using Salt, Oil, Sugar, Alcohol, Vinegar, Drying, Cold Stage, and Lactic Fermentation uses little-known French techniques for storing and preserving edibles, is newly translated into English for American audiences, and uses less costly methods featuring locally grown, minimally refined fruits and vegetables. It's a cut above your usual 'how to preserve' title and a 'must' for collections strong in either cooking or ecological living.
Thrifty In The Truest Sense.......2007-05-14
This is a really good reference, with discussions of fermenation and brining, that go beyond the superficial. Good recipies as well, we are now enjoying our salted lemons in salads and in other dishes. This would be in the top ten I would recommend for getting by in a pinch. Also they, for the most part require little or no gas or electric use.

Good, but not my favorite.......2007-06-16
This is a good book if you're learning how to can, and it has some good tips and recipes in it, but its not my favorite. I bought this book, along with the Ball 400 Recipes book, and I prefer the Ball book over this one.
Everything I need with a GREAT layout........2007-01-04
This book is wonderful in that it has all the information you could possibly want and it is sectioned very well. The only thing that I would prefer is a wider range of recipes for the salsas and things, but then again it is not a cookbook so I can't fault it for that.
useful book.......2006-08-23
Good book. Has sensible, usable recipes and canning/preserving information pertaining to a variety of produce. Well written and easily understandable.
Full of Information.......2005-09-27
This book is great for the the novice. It covers soup to nuts (literally)!! After my first (successful!) attempt at canning tomato sauce and pickeling zucchini, I wanted to get more out of my garden. This year we had to take a hiatus from producing our own vegatables, but I ordered this book now, so I can be better prepared for next year. This books gives tips on types of vegatables to plant, harvesting tips, and a guide on how to best preserve each item. It has also given me plenty ideas to plan for in the next few years. My goal is build a root cellar in my basement. This book was definatly worth the money for the advice it gave me.
Great guide.......2004-08-09
I've recently expanded my preserving repertoire beyond canned tomatoes & pickles and into the worlds of pressure canning, drying, and freezing. This book is perfect for the person exploring these (and other) options for "putting up" food. Especially helpful is the early section of the book with a long list of common fruits and vegetables with a summary of the best methods of preservation. Subsequent chapters present each method in detail (with good explanations of the science behind them) and provide greater detail on how to apply them to specific foods. I've also tried (with good success) several of the recipes that appear toward the end of the book. This was an excellent purchase for my needs.

Customer Reviews:
Great Book for Preserving Food!.......2007-08-31
I just bought this book today, and made the tomato sauce freezer recipe with all of the tomatoes from my garden. Let me tell you, the tomato sauce is so delicious, it could pass for a yummy tomato soup. There are other many delicious-sounding recipes in this book that I am eager to try, and I know I will definitely get my money's worth from it.
I love that the author is just as concerned as I am with what goes into her food. Too many commercially canned foods are loaded with tons of sodium, high fructose corn syrup, and other unpronouncable ingredients. If you are health-conscious and want to serve your family only the best, high-quality preserved food, this book is for you.
Also, I do not agree with the author in not doubling the recipes. Some of the recipes are so small, and there is no way I will not double them to save time. I have made very large batches of jams and jellies for years without any problems, and cannot understand why the author would state not to do so. I also don't agree with the author in not changing the ratio of sugar in the jams and jellies recipes. Most recipes for jams and jellies contain way too much sugar, and I have had no problems halving the sugars in my jams and jellies as long as I have enough fruit pectin added to compensate. If you don't mind tons of sugar in your jams and jellies, then this shouldn't be a concern.
Overall, this book is excellent, and is one of the best canning and preserving sources I have read. I believe beginners as well as advanced canners would find this book very helpful, if not, at least the delicious recipes will be a great addition!
The Big Book of Preserving the Harvest.......2007-03-09
This book is fabulous!! It is great for projects also for young children.
Something for everyone .......2007-01-29
"The Big Book of Preserving the Harvest" is a refreshingly concise how-to for beginners and experts alike. Great illustrations for the directionally-challenged, lots of useful charts. Those include charts for processing times in water bath AND pressure cookers, quantities of produce needed per quart jar, sugar substitutes, etc. Then, there are the simple recipes for fancy foods. This book is a great leasure read or a satisfying quick reference tool, surely a wonderful gift for anyone who enjoys working with food.
A-OK.......2006-07-28
This is a good book for the beginner with a lot of fine details. I have enjoyed reading the book and using a couple of the receipes but I find it a very close copy of the Ball Bluebook of Home Canning, etc. In fact, many of the receipes are quoted from the Blue Book. It is one I will use many times again though.
yummy jerky.......2004-09-01
I love the fact that this book covers canning (pressure and water bath) drying, and root cellaring all in equal detail. I have been searching for a good jerky marinade for about 6 months now with many flops inbetween. This book delivers. I LOVE the marinade for beef jerky in it. I have also made the peach jam, very tasty. It was interesting to read about creating a root cellar, and got me thinking into how I can incorporate that method of preservation into my lifestyle. Very good book!

Teriffic book for a beginner!.......2000-12-22

A Practical and Simple Guidebook for Preserving Food.......2000-08-15
I used to feel intimidated about preserving fresh vegetables. I thought all sorts of expensive equipment and a vast knowledge of preserving were needed in order to successfully preserve food. Then I purchased a copy of The Busy Person's Guide to Preserving Food and was delighted to find that I could almost effortlessly preserve many of the fresh vegetables I grew and still have good results with the finished product. Now, I look forward to a healthy crop of green beans, yellow squash, zucchini, and tomatoes and no longer wonder what I'll do with all of the produce.
Great Book.......2000-03-28
This is an easy book to follow. I've never canned before and this book made it easy. The results were good also.

Decent Brief Guide.......2005-08-19
This book is a concise collection of ideas for gardening and preserving food for year-round food self-sufficiency. It includes chapters on garden planning, canning, freezing, drying and smoking, juicing, cheese making, grinding grains, gathering wild fruits, camp foods, decorative drying, and kitchen planning. There are quite a number of interesting and useful recipes, from rose petal syrup to candied cactus to acorn bread. In addition to recipes, the authors provide instructions for canning and for building special equipment like a food dehydrator, or a fruit press. The book is illustrated throughout with color photographs. End material includes a glossary and index.
Although the book includes some tips from a grower in Michigan, much of the material comes from families in California, so there is quite a bit of advice for mild climate Western gardeners, and not much information for gardeners who face extremely cold conditions. The gardening advice seems mostly sound, although it doesn't stick to strictly organic methods, and includes a few recommendations for chemical applications. The food preservation techniques focus on canning, freezing, and drying, and barely mention root cellaring. Nevertheless, if you only have room on your shelf for one slim volume about food preservation, this is a good choice because it includes information on such a wide variety of topics.
Book Description
The Mind of a Trader will explore the trading philosophies, behaviors and tactics of the world's top traders, identifying successful strategies and winning ways in the markets.
Customer Reviews:
Insightful and different.......2002-02-01
It makes a difference to find a readable book on trading with real insight not trite cliches. Clearly an effort was made to get inside the mind of the traders. I have 14 years trading experience at a major US bank and this is recommended reading for all new recruits and old hands too.
You should be able to trade/feel better after you read it.......2001-07-25
If you go through the reviews, you might notice that the opinion of many readers had been much influenced by the "title" or even "background" of the traders interviewed in the book. A self claimed successful trader and reviewer just gave only "one" star to the book because he found one of the interviewees a liar and that the author had failed to verify the history of his interviewees.
Discounting the above, and taking in account that the book focused on the minds of options and futures traders (vs the all walks of life type in Market Wizards I&II), the primary objective had been delivered. In short, discipline, cut loss short, let profit run had been quoted in all the interviews, though in different styles and wordings. The book is well written by the ex barrister author, who intelligently and vividly merged his opinion with those of the interviewees, without going through the common Q&A format.
You may like or dislike the book after reading it. But for sure you will remember its strong emphasis on discipline for quite a while. In this respect, it's worth the time and the price.
Nice idea, but fails to enlighten.......2001-05-15
This book should be called "The Basic Tips of a Trader" because there's almost nothing about the psychology behind their trading tactics nor a psychological insight into what makes the markets behave as they do. Supposing that the word "Mind" in the title isn't meant to be taken too literally then one may still find the tips somewhat superficial. If you're a novice to trading then you might be interested to hear comments like "take your losses like a man" or "pick a trading style suited to your personality", but if you are a novice then you probably don't want to be confused or bored by drawn out messages. The essence of this book is worth a chapter in a good general book on trading but wasn't worth the time sifting the mostly common-knowledge or common-sense tips from a well padded book.
I am surprised that this book has so many excellent customer reviews (ignoring those of the big traders themselves). The title may sound interesting and useful but I found nothing profound or enlightening. A few of the tips can be applied to generally being successful at anything, not only trading. It would be useful to know the psychology behind the market-makers and big traders but if this book expresses all that they think then be assured that most semi-intelligent people with a fair education have little to learn from this book. As one trader said, you don't fight the markets, i.e. go with the flow. Useful. They may have a knack for making money but this is probably more to do with intuition than anything they have been able to consciously identify and translate into words that may be of some use to us mortals.
Patel's later book, "Net-Trading", covers many of the more interesting points of this book in a book which is worth a read for beginners or those wanting to use the Internet as an info source and need good pointers through the proliferation of cyber-confusion. He puts the best points from "The Mind of a Trader" into better context and without the padding.
Nice idea for a book for traders, but in my opinion it doesn't hit the spot.
Breakthrough.......2000-02-18
A fantastic book, better than Market Wizards. The Alpesh Patel adds his own experience to that of the other great traders in this book.
I was very impressed with the line up which includes a Global Head of Foreign Exchange from Salomon's, a Global Head of Equity Derivatives from Paribas to name but two.
There are traders so succesful on the floor they have ploughed their millions into creating their own firms.
The advice they give is lucid, clear, detailed and very useful.
Mr Patel does an excellent job of editing and clarifing and expanding on trader comments. The best topics covered include money and risk management.
Pat Arbor, former Chairman of the Chicago Board of Trade and trader himslef sheds some insightful light onto the whole area of managing trades once they are opened.
I found the whole area of trading pyschology very useful and my own trading has improved for the cost commission on one trade.
Well done Mr Patel - when is the sequel?
A very detailed expose of the subject.......1999-07-02
A fine book from which novice and experienced traders can both learn a heck of a lot about improviing their trading.
If you are not making several million a year in trading profit then what's your excuse for not spending a few dollars learning from those that are. You owe it to yourself.
All the right probing questions are asked an all the perfect issues are addressed.
