This is both a beautiful (the art of Reneson) and a thoughtful (the writing of Gray) book. It is not a "how to" book, but rather a book to set your mind for a good trip, or to reflect on a past trip. If you can't be there, this is the next best thing.

Most fly fishermen are artists at heart. This wonderful book does not disappoint. Reneson's watercolors are among the best out there and a perfect complement to Gray's essays. This book will nourish the soul of a fly fisherman on a cold night.

It describes in exceptional detail the type of information needed by anyone, from rank tyro to old pro, who hopes to have a successful trip to one of the myriad fishing spots along our beautiful Texas coast. Armed with this book, the average fly fisherman can pick a location, follow Phil's advice on flies, tides, and quarry, and look forward to a grand adventure in the salt. Heed his words on safety, conservation, and ethics and I can guarantee that you are going to have a ball. My personal favorite area from the book; Port Aransas and its' surrounding waters.

Jan Maizler contributes 30+ years of real flats fishing knowledge to your library with this concise and thorough handbook. Although I recommend all my customers read the book prior to their guided fishing experience; I, myself, keep it handy for reference. There's no fluff here, just solid information for the beginner to the professional.

This is an excellent beginner book for text and photographs, however it is not advanced enough for the intermediate or experience fly fisher person. Photographs are fantastic and make a great book for beginning collector.

In a time when most fishing books and sport shows seem to cater only to the "boat crowd".This book is dedicated to those who pursue the denizens of the sea from the stability of dry land.
"Stability of dry land" is a little misleading, as anyone who has taken to the surf for fish will tell you,and this book certainly does.
It's primary focus is surf fishing,but the lessons and logic easily apply to other land born assaults on sea life.
All about surf fishing is also is a very fun read.The chapters offer important information while at the same time telling of various exciting, and always entertaining, real life experiences.
Not a bunch of "we went there and did this" but rather,"Heres what to do,and heres what happened when I didnt".
As weird as it sounds,this book is really a page turner.I found myself making mental notes and looking foreword to the next chapter.
When all is said and done, this book is excellent for anyone fishing from dryland.In looking at this book and its style of writting, one gets the feeling that this is a true, modern classic of sport fishing.

On the very day in August, 1986, the author gets bit by a water moccasin in Mississippi while on a canoe trip, Stephen Rondell was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota, with multiple disabilites. As a nurse, she found him two years later and spent the next eleven years willing him to live.

The emergency room doctor had told her that fateful day that "God must want you for something." Indeed, He did. She helped this disabled young child to grow and develop into a human being. He had celebral palsy and epilipsy, along with other life-threatening illnesses. There is a person here named David who could have been her Steve.

She adopted him and helped him learn how to cope and get around in this hectic world of ours. She had an endorsement for this informative and needed book by Patch Adams whose work with all kinds of disability, from physical to mental, as a work of art. I found a person four years ago dressed as a clown complete with Patch's trademark big red nose who told me that he actually works with Dr. Adams in his travels and work with children. I wa upset by a scene in the movie, but he told me that was pure Hollywood added to get movie goers, not the truth.

This is a story of miracles of faith, hope and love. It shows how a group of dedicated professionals work together to accomplish much more than any single individual ever could. Chrissy has been a nurse for twenty-five years and is now an expert advocate for human rights. Stephen's story will inform parents of disabled children and encourage all who go through this kind of stress that it is all worth the effort and strife.

It is the story of a child's lifelong struggle with serious disabilities; his sweet spirit enrishes all who reads this revealing account in the life of Steve and Crissy. It can be used as a primer for caregivers of children everywhere.
