Book Description
This handy resource evolved out of a classroom environment reflecting the realities of the information age. Thunderbird students, being well versed in international business, culture and language, gathered global business information on the World Wide Web for assigned regions of the world. The text is divided into chapters organized around general regions of the globe. Each of these major groupings are further divided into areas and countries most beneficial to today's business professional. All chapters are preceded by a concise introduction to the region and sometimes a country which provides insight into its culture, business practices, political systems and risk, and social aspects.

An enormous, albeit dated list of interesting business sites.......2003-12-17
Compiled at Thunderbird, the American Graduate School of International Management, this class project provides links to an enormous amount of information. And, given the current business environment, even relatively small, seemingly local businesses have global requirements. This list of web pages will allow you to surf locations in the country of interest and get information that in many cases is simply unavailable elsewhere. For example: http://tjev.tel.etf.hr/hrvatska/ HR.html is the home page of the republic of Croatia, and http://www.Afrique.corn/ Africaonline/Copyright.html is billed as Africa' s gateway to the Internet.
Most addresses also contain pointers to additional web sites in that country and the data ranges from investment opportunities to people just interested in communicating with others.
If you are interested in the latest information about a country produced by those in that country, or just want to have an international web pal, then this is the place to start. It is an extremely inexpensive and effective way to learn about the world, which in many cases is now only a mouse click away.

Book Description
Author of the greatest inspirational bestseller of our time offers positive strategies for success in business and personal life. The remarkable self-help phenomenon,
The Power of Positive Thinking, plus the successful
The Positive Principle Today and
Enthusiasm Makes the Difference show why Norman Vincent Peale has helped millions of readers transform their lives and find joy and fulfillment.
Customer Reviews:
Very good book.......2007-06-06
I own the first book "Power of positive thinking". I can hardly wait to read the other two. At one point in my life I was covered with negative thinking and it drastically affected my actions and situations around me. However, using this book changed my life. I trust in God more now, have more faith in him, and I am much happier today. Also, more people started noticing and they liked the happier, more in control me. Praise God!!
Full of Stories, no real direction.......2007-03-27
The book teaches through others inspirational stories; there is no real teaching on how to have a positive attitude. I was expecting the book to give me steps on how to have a positive out look. It is also a religious book, which I didn't expect when I ordered it.
Excellent Boost!.......2007-01-05
This book is an excellent comprehensive boost for anyone who wants to welcome change and new ways of seeing their world and the issues they may have in relationships, wealth, success and life in general. I haven't finished reading it yet - but have found that even just one page a night before bed does wonders in slowly opening us up to change and positive ways of thinking. It's difficult to do in a world that bombards us at lightening speed with so many mixed positive and negative, draining messages. This is a great way to keep your feet on the ground, mind focused on the important things and even if you aren't religious to explore yourself and spirituality. Like a pocket psychotherapist ;-)
PEALE SOME OFF FOR ME!.......2006-11-18
STILL APPROPRIATE AFTER ALL THESE YEARS. I READ IT 30 YEARS AGO, NOW IT IS HELPING MY SON.
Buy it. NOW........2006-11-04
Easily the best book I've ever bought. If I could rate this book six stars, I would.
Six months ago, I decided to change my life and head for the military. I wanted to be the best and decided to try out for the Rangers, an especially ambitious goal considering my activity level was on par with most vegetables. My friends laughed at me, I bought this book.
Using this book as my motivational guide and Stew Smith's 12 Weeks to BUD/S as my exercise plan, my pushup/run/situp/swim scores absolutely shot through the roof. I have never felt motivation like I felt after reading through Norman Peale's book and if it wasn't for this purchase, I honestly believe I would have abandoned this goal and would still be miserable, sitting on my couch, and playing video games, not out getting in shape for the Rangers.
That was over six months ago now, and am heading off to basic pretty soon with my body ready and my mind motivated.
Thank you Mr. Peale even though you are probably dead, I am a very happy customer and have even bought a couple copies for my friends. The concepts in this book are the best things that have ever happened to me and have absolutely revolutionized my life.
They can revolutionize yours too. All you have to do is buy it and use it.

Customer Reviews:
the best peale book i've read.......2004-03-11
This book is by far the best of about 3 Norman Vincent Peale books I have read. While it does tend to repeat stories from his other books(after reading a couple I think they all do), it also has the ability to make you motivated into doing something right now. Peale has the ability to make you want to do something with your life right now and not wait until tommorrow comes. I've notice his advice of just "putting a smile on your face everyday" really works and I think it will for you as well!
Enthusiastic about enthusiasm.......2000-05-08
This is one of the best books I have ever read on the topic of turning adversity into advantage. I have several of Norman Vincent Peale's books and loved them all - but this one beats the rest in that it seems to me to be the easiest to put into practice. There are several real-life examples of success and lots of different ways of going about it. Basically - be enthusiastic about life, youself, and, of course, God. One of the good things about this book is that God doesn't come into it from the beginning, meaning that those who have no faith are hooked by the ideas for improving their lives before they get chance to be put off by ideas of 'the God squad' I have combed England to get hold of another copy. - The original one I read was published in UK in 1991 and is now out of print - I am more delighted than I can say to find it here - I have lots of people of my acquaintance to whom I intend to give it. I must be impressed to want to buy it just to give it away!
Product Description
Here is a book which should be read by everyone, young and old. Enthusiasm will improve your personality, give spiritual stability, confidence, calm bad nerves, help to make right choices, solve problems, replace dullness and apathy with energy & drive. A good read!

Customer Reviews:
Make Quality Furniture.......2007-06-24
I bought this book because I needed some new patio furniture. The price of 'store bought' furniture is so exhorbitant, I asked my husband to make this for me. I bought the wood and waited for over 6 months. I ended up making it myself...(and I cannot usually saw a board in half with a hand saw!!). I found the directions fairly straightforward. I made my patio chairs and they look good if I must say so myself! My next project is to make a dog house for my husband..
Some good furniture designs.......2003-07-26
This book has some good designs for outdoor furniture, including a swing, double rocker, two part patio chair, and an outdoor chair and table. Good, complete instructions are included and the size can be easily modified to meet your needs.
The reason I didn't rate this as five stars is that the book also includes way too many bird houses and a whirligig. Personally, I feel that bird houses and whirligigs should be banned from these kind of books.
The book isn't too expensive so I feel that the worthwhile designs are worth the price. If you want some good designs for a swing, rocker, and a few other items, buy this book.
Not for beginners.......2003-03-18
While this book has some very beautiful gliders, rockers, and chairs, it was not designed for a beginner in woodworking. I had trouble with the terminology used and wouldn't even attempt these projects. In addition the book has an over abundance of bird houses and feeders (9 patterns). So if you are looking to build easy, strait forward lawn furniture this is not the book for you.
pleasing.......2001-05-16
i find this book very illustrated in the constrction of building outdoor crafts. it is very defined in the exact measurements in every cut with precision. i would recommend this book to any person in the beginning and skilled nature of wood working.
Book Description
The third volume in Dumas Malone's distinguished study of Thomas Jefferson and his time deals with one of the most fascinating and controversial periods of Jefferson's life. It includes the story of the final and most crucial phase of his secretaryship of state, his retirement to Monticello, his assumption of the leadership of the opposition party, and the crisis during the half-war with France when the existence of political expression was threatened and the freedom of individuals imperiled
Customer Reviews:
Most consistently written volume yet, though at times a tough read.......2007-07-08
This book is the third volume in Dumas Malone's six volume biography called "Jefferson and His Time" covering the period in Jefferson's life from the end of his tenure as Secretary of State under George Washington to his contentious election as President in early 1800/1801.
In this volume Mr. Malone seems to perfect his intended writing and presentation style resulting in the most consistently written volume yet in the series. The organization of chapters by topics, instead of a chronological narrative, is much more pronounced than in the second volume and each 10 to 20 page chapter usually covers at least two to three years of events (as part of a 500 page volume encompassing a mere eight years of Jefferson's life) with considerable chronological overlap from chapter to chapter. This seems appropriate enough for a scholarly, analysis based, biography but requires the reader's continued focus to reconstruct the correct timeline of events.
This volume is, overall, an enjoyable read and at moments gives the reader considerable insight into Jefferson's true character, a tough task for such an elusive subject. I must admit, however, at times Mr. Malone's lenghty analyses make parts of this work tough to traverse and I often wanted to skim ahead to the next topic. This seems to be a byproduct of the topic based chapters, with each chapter being a self contained research article on a particular topic of Jefferson's life. I fully concede that this is entirely appropriate for a biography of this depth and length, but at times I miss the narrative based biography that Mr. Malone began with in the first volume.
Research paper vs. Story Telling.......2003-10-31
So far i have given this series thumbs up due to the historical significance coupled with Duman Malone's detailed account of Thomas Jefferson in the period during which the story takes place. This book is more qualified to be a research paper, not a historical account of Thomas Jefferson. The high level of detail the book provides, in most cases, is overpowering and often times delutes the significance of the important details. Especially excruciating to read was TJ political account. If Dumas Malone would have had additional records of TJ's most insignificant and irrelevant actions during the priod, he would have included it in detail as well. Dumas Malone did quite a poor job of filtering unnecessary details, causing the reader to fequently tune out. The story was drawn out, and focused too little on his personal life in comparison to his political life.
Also curious was the mention of TJ's slaves and his attitudes towards them without giving any account to Sallie Hemmings (other than mentioning the Hemmings Family name). Some objectiveness would be refreshing in this series... It appears as if Dumas Malone provides a very one sided account of Thomas Jefferson. Whether certain claims regarding TJ are founded or not, they should still be included in the story. The author should not filter information on the basis of convenience or lack of objectivity.
Jefferson and the Ordeal of Liberty.......2002-04-17
Jefferson and the Ordeal of Liberty written by Dumas Malone is the third installment of six in the life and times of Thomas Jefferson and according to the author the most arduous to write. The time frame of this segment starts where the second volume left off and continues to the election of Thomas Jefferson to his first term as President of the United States, (1792 - 1801).
This volume is divided into four seperate sections of Jefferson's life in this series of years, but Jefferson as Secretary of State, has frustrations in Philadelphia and as we see most of them are Hamilton in origin. Begining the first segment we see Jefferson completing his secretaryship of state, the second deals with his early retirement to Monticello, third section deals with the growth of political parties and Jefferson's reluctance to be the head of the opposition to the Federalists, and the fourth segment deals with the basic individual freedoms of the people being seriously imperiled.
Even though the author stated than this was a difficult time to write about Thomas Jefferson, it is apparent, through the tone of this book that great care was given to portray Jefferson as he was in life... we even get to glimpse at a dark side of Jefferson as the heated frustration with Hamilton begins its culmination, as Jefferson relies on James Madison to do the "dirty work."
This is a fascinating and controversial time in Jefferson's life and the author tells the story well. The Giles Resolutions and the Citizen Genet stories were extremely well written.

Continuing conflict between Jefferson and Hamilton.......2000-01-09
This volume continues to explore Jefferson's tenure as Secretary of State and his battles with Hamilton. What's interesting is the effect Hamilton's assaults had on Jefferson's reputation: by imbuing him with every quality from limitless guile to "great passion," Hamilton makes Jefferson into a colossus in the public eye. Jefferson was more passive than Hamilton thought. One interesting thing about this book is that you get glimpses of Jefferson's dark side. In one letter to Madison, Jefferson asks Madison to "cut [Hamilton] to pieces in the face of the public." Ouch.
Also, the story of Citizen Genet is pretty funny. Genet thought he could somehow go above the head of the Washington administration and appeal directly to the American people. Genet is quickly recalled by France.

Fascinating description of life on the frontier of Dakota.......1999-06-19
Hamilton was one of the small ranchers who traveled to Dakota after the Civil War to find his fortune. Written years after the events described, the clarity with which he recalls the events and the details of daily life are amazing. The good-humored style and the simple stories have the power to make you wish you could have gone along with those hardy pioneers.

Assess and act on the ideas. Recognize and reward your people.
Customer Reviews:
Still talking about it..........2006-03-03
Our entire workforce read this book and went through the presentation of the book provided by Karen Evenson. Karen is able to touch her audience in a simple, fun way and still provide proven tools that allow creativity in problem solving. Even if you have provided many teambuilding and problem solving efforts in the past, you need to look into this book. We have over 50 employees that read the book and took the class and they are still talking about it. Great read.
A tale of "Kaos" calmed.......2004-08-28
Karen Evenson takes the word "fear" and redefines it as "F.E.A.R." - an acronym that stands for four essential leadership practices: Focus on and facilitate a culture that is open to change and emphasizes creative thinking; Empower and encourage your people to take initiative in collaborative problem solving; Assess and act on the ideas; Recognize and reward your people. Evenson takes us into the mythical Kingdom of Kaos, where a smart wizard advises the king on how to transform a poor business environment resulting from bad decision making and ineffective communication. The easy-to-swallow format of the book should not distract the reader from its solid theoretical foundations in decision making and creativity methods.
From the outset, Evenson makes it clear that the thoughts in this tale are simplified fictional presentations of ideas formulated by others. First among those sources is Michael Kirton, from whom Evenson learned the ways of the KAI cognitive profile, "the three levels of opportunity", "Problems A and B", and others. She adds to the brew a range of methods for decision making, creative thinking, and communication from several sources (several of which we have reviewed and have linked to this review). Evenson's method of presentation differs from that of Patrick Lencioni, whose tales come to a close before the non-fictional explanation begins. She sprinkles the story of the kingdom of Kaos throughout with "thoughts and explanations" boxes, and "Quantum Leap" exercises for the reader.
The disarming simplicity of Redefining F.E.A.R. puts a sugar coating on a considerable collection of well-tried methodologies. As the wizard gradually brings wisdom to the king, we encounter the Five-Step Collaborative Problem-Solving Process, an introduction to visioning, tips on making effective use of diversity in cognition and personality, the multiple-lens technique, ways to identify unwritten rules, and several idea generation methods. If you are running up against low morale, decreased productivity, ineffective communication, wasted time, and uncreative thinking, you may find the 140-page Redefining F.E.A.R. to be an easy yet effective way to help you change direction.
