This book concerns the most important relationship most people have outside the family: the relationship between an employer and an employee. That relationship is crisscrossed by a complex web of laws and regulations. This book describes those laws in a direct, straightforward fashion.

The Wisconsin Employer's Guide provides the "lay of the land" of personnel law and regulations and integrates the state and federal law that is relevant to an employer. Each section of the book attempts to include both the underlying concept and a simple, straightforward rule.

This book is written in small, self-contained sections. The reader does not need to refer to the rest of the chapter, much less the rest of the book, to find information about a topic. Although this method of writing causes some duplication, it more than repays the reader in the efficiency of its use.

The Wisconsin Employer's Guide is supplemented at least yearly, and more often if major legislation or court cases require. In order to incorporate updated pages easily, the book is published in a three-ring notebook. The Wisconsin Employer's Guide is, and will continue to be, one of the most current employment law books available anywhere in the nation.

"Memo English" is used throughout this book. Whenever possible, the author has avoided terms not found regularly in a newspaper and discussions that would appear out-of-place in a business memo. This book is a non-technical discussion of technical topics.

I was very disappointed. This book should have been titled 'Look at how I paint' - there are lots of pictures but no useful information. For exmample, when he details a Humvee, he shows the step for masking the windows - and never removes the masking - leaving the windows painted in camo patterns - kind of hard to drive.

I was disappointed in the book. It gave some great over views of different topics, but no real depth in how to actually do it. I would recommend anything from S. Paine over J. Scutt's material anytime.

This extraordinary book, at once scholarly and a good read, not only delights and informs its readers, but links them with the century of Burlingham's life and the people who made it what it was. Its author's careful research, wide sympathies, and grasp of what makes people and societies act the way they do illuminates the history of the man, the city, and the times.

A Must-Read Biography for Political History Buffs.......2005-06-05

I began reading this long political biography because the author is a personal friend. At first, I thought I would skim the book but by page 200 it had become a real page-turner. It was so well-written and researched and dealt with such fascinating subjects--including the downfall of Tammany Hall and the rise of Fiorello Laguardia. Burlingham was influential in both events and his long (101-year!) life overlapped with those of many other historical figures whom he influenced and whose influence, like his, continues to be felt today. A great feast for the mind!

Disovered Treasure.......2005-04-20

Mr. Burlingham deserves the serious and engaging review of his contributions to American society so adroitly recounted by George Martin. This book is absolutely terrific. And the question we must ask is are there any CCB's to be found in the future of America? We need them.

I wouldn't buy this book because Matt Certo is too young to have the maturity about the topics he is supposed to be writing about. He does not practice what he preaches with respect to treating customers with respect. I know this from direct experience.

I received an early release copy of Digital Dimensioning by someone at the McGraw-Hill company, it has become my bible over the past month. As someone who is attempting to implement an ebusiness model in a brick and mortar company this book has all the right moves!! Its a resource those of us who have been out of school for the past twenty years can understand. Digital Dimensioning has become this old captains co-pilot through the often confusing and frustrating world of ebusiness.

The author has done moderate work on the book. It is easy to read and conceptualize. However, the price is too expensive and definitely cannot complete with these following books (not exclusive and not sorted in any order)

Up-to-date and Close-up look at Global Inquality........1999-12-18

I will assign this book to my senior-level World Affairs class. It gives a timely and close-up look at both the structural causes of poverty and its human consequences. Jan Knippers Black integrates graphic detail with descriptions of larger trends. She has a good conceptual grasp of global trends and is not shy about directly linking poverty to the policies of corporations, national governments, and international financial institutions. Inequality in the Global Village is well written and organized in a way that will appeal to caring citizens.
