Painted Clay is a refreshing look at ceramics. It overviews many historical periods in ceramics and how the painted image is portrayed. This looks at ceramic painting, not as decoration as is the normal tradition, but the painted image as art on a ceramic piece. There are many beautiful and interesting illustrations that cover the spectrum of ceramic history specific to images on clay. Highly recommended for visuals as well as a resource book.

This path-breaking comparative study of the economies of Japan, Korea, and Taiwan analyzes the evolution of the financial systems of each country in relation to their last four decades of dynamic economic growth. Each country study is addressed in two chapters, the first covering macroeconomic aspects of the financial system and the second chapter focusing on commercial banking. The analysis shows how financial development has occurred in two distinct phases. Initially interest rates were regulated to remain below market levels, entry of new financial institutions was restricted, financial markets were segmented, and domestic finance was insulated from world financial markets. The second phase has seen a steady, if sometimes slow, removal of these restrictions. This liberalization has meant regulation now focuses on prudential measures for system safety while financial resources are increasingly allocated through the marketplace. If you keep meaning to start meditating but always find an excuse not to start, then meet your match! As a small business executive I read this book and found it to be a wonderful guidebook on meditation. The author does a great job in creating a step by step process to learn the basics of Meditation. I was looking for a way to release some of the stress in my life. Finally a common sense approach to meditation!.......2003-11-23

Like another review posted here, I had tried and failed a few times to learn meditation by reading other books. None really took into account that I lead a busy, fast-paced life full of business pressure, flying off here and there, living in hotels and customers yelling for everything to be delivered yesterday. The other books on meditation that I'd read were solid works but they weren't wtitten by someone that had walked the kind of path and led the kind of life I do. This is a common sense straight from the hip great book that worked for me written by a guy that obviously knows his stuff. Terrific job.

This is a must have book - whether you buy it for the recipes or the humor that runs throughout the entire book. I love this cookbook and I've shared it with many girlfriends who had to buy one or more copies because they fell in love with it too. When I first received the book as a gift, I couldn't put it down. I had to go through it page by page and savor the ambience.

It's a great concept and you are drawn into the world of the 1960's PTA Divas page after page. The pictures tell a story and really compliment the recipies. The illustrations are top rate and punctuate the recipies perfectly adding just the right touch. This book oozes charm and is a must have.

I'm not much of a cook; however, I find that the recipies are tempting -- they're easy and very tasty. I've been compelled to try many of them. And the best part of each recipe is the tips for modifying the recipe. It's such an EASY cookbook to own and use.

You'll be delighted to be pulled into the Culinary Confessions of the PTA Divas.

Wonderful cookbook! The recipes are simple and easy to prepare. "My Big fat Greek Chicken Salad" and "tipsy Turkey Chipotle Chilli" are two of my family's favorites. The "I'm Confessin" section gives you such great tips for substitutions and side dishes. Nothing could be easier!
I have given several as gifts to friends and family. I would highly recommend! Two funny divas!

What a great cookbook. I have tried many of recipes, and ALWAYS serve a hit to my family and friends. The soup recipes are my favorite...I have tried them all! Each recipe includes "I'm confessin" tips on cooking, serving and fun facts about the recipe making it enjoyable and easy for the chef!

I cannot get enough of this book! I've tried a number of the recipes and always score a homerun with my teenage son and hubbie. Most of the dishes can be prepared well under 30 minutes, which makes it a snap for weeknight meals. Perfect dishes for elegant entertaining, too. The "I'm Confessing" sidebars offer a host of insider secrets for cooks at all levels. If that's not enough, the cleverly written copy is a hoot and had me laughing all the way to the 'frig. Perfect for gift-giving, too!

This Series "Schwager on Futures" is the biggest work has ever been written on futures trading. As a Futures Trader I advise everybody to read these books before to starts any real trading in Futures, that if not taken in the proper way can be very painfull. As a Member of IFTA(International federation Of Tecnical Analisys)I suggest you to read it joint with John Murphy's "Technical Analisys f Futures Markets" and "Intermarket Technical Analisys" this will give you a integral knowledge of Futures Environment that is what you need on your Trading philosophy. I always let these books on my desk because I need them so many times during my trading day. THEY ARE A REAL REFERENCE. The good thing of this series is that you can test your comprension by the various study guides. Reading the book about "Managed Trading" You can even get able to judge the returns of the various CTA and decide when it is better to invest in them and to whom give your money.Probably you are not be interested in the Fundamental analisys book but remember, especially in the commodities markets, EVEN IF YOU ARE GOING TO TRADE TECHNICALLY IS VERY IMPORTANT TO UNDERSTAND FUNDAMENTAL ANALISYS!!! Read this book if you are considering investing in any CTA.......1999-07-12

An excellent book, not for the amateur. Prospective readers should also be aware that CTA requirements are very high; running into millions of dollars. The next best choice are pools. However even these will require at least $25,000. This is a great book for would be hedge-fund investors as well. Schwager's ideas on monthly rebalancing and investing during drawdown periods are great examples of how counter intuitive ideas are very often the correct ones in the world of investing.

This book is a must for users of managed futures!.......1998-05-15

Jack Schwager is one of the best writers around on the subject of futures and trading. Let me begin by saying that this is one of my picks for the three best books of 1996. Why? First of all, it is one of the few books on futures trading that is statistically sound and sensible. There are three main themes:

1. Performance numbers are often not what they appear to be.

2. Past performance is far less predictive of future performance than generally believed.

3. There are investment strategies that can be used to enhance expected portfolio performance.

In my opinion, no one should include managed futures in a portfolio without this book. And the techniques of measurement and analysis described here set the standard for those who would be Commodity Trading Advisors. I recommend it highly!
