Customer Reviews:
Nice book. A little pricey........2007-09-30
I needed this book for a master's class I am taking. It came and was everything I expected. It came quickly and in good condition. I was a little perterbed by the cost of this book in relation to it's size. A little book at a big price.
Repeated Information.......2006-01-29
this book had a lot of information, but nothing that required an entire book to cover. there were a lot of "methods" and ideas to incorporate in the classroom, but the organization of the book made it cumbersome to follow the examples. If you are the type of learner who appreciates a ton of examples this would be a great reference.
Great recommendation for any teacher.......2003-07-22
Differentiated Instructional Strategies: One Size Doesn't Fit All by Gayle Gregory, and Carolyn Chapman is great tool to compliment any teacher's personal resource library. Customer Reviews:
a book worth the money........2006-02-21
I have other books referring to bobbin lace but not so in detail. It is definitely written by someone who loves this craft and is happy to share the knowhow with other persons. Very detailed and a good learning aid !!!
Lacemaking in English.......2004-03-27
Fro many years this book was the only book on Lacemaking available in English and we are so grateful for it. But almost all the English language books available today use a different method from this one, and it would be confusing to start with this method and then have to change when buying any other English book. It might be better to start with the method you will continue with.
But if you have a teacher from Belgium this would be the method she will use.(as opposed to an American or English teacher)
Easy to follow.......2002-04-12
This is the book I used to get started with making bobbin lace. The directions for the patterns start out with excruciatingly exact and precise details. As you move farther into the book, the directions assume a certain level of experience and become less detailed. That's okay, by the time you get to those lessons, you already know what a half-stich and cloth stitch are and no longer need that level of detail. I heartily recommend this book to all of my students.
Change of title.......2000-04-25
This book contains the same lessons and information as the book "Bobbin Lacemaking," that is now out of print. Lessons take you through progressively more difficult laces.
A classic text.......1999-11-11
Includes everything you need to know to make bobbin lace. The patterns are simple and attractive with an emphasis on yardage laces for trim as opposed to motifs and doileys. If you're taking up lacemaking on a budget, this is the book for you. This one was written during the Dark Times when lacemaking equipment was scarce, so there is a chapter included on making your own pillow and bobbins. This is a keeper.

Customer Reviews:
Therapist Marketing.......2006-04-24
It is probably true that many therapists are not knowdgeable about marketing. The sample advertisments were excellent providing the basic material to commence thinking about strategy. Whilst I did expect to see finished layouts, the advertising content was included and would only have to be formatted into a completed advertisment. I was able to put my own touch on the layouts.
Jeremy Castelino
Rip-off alert, not what it claims to be..........2004-09-05
This book's claim for the CD is dishonest! The book is simply a compilation of sample ads with the claim that they are on the CD ready for your use, but THIS IS NOT TRUE. The cd has only a few lines of text for each ad, NOT the graphics or professionally designed material printed in the book and to be expected from the books self-promotion. Since the book advertises itself as a ready-to-use resource this is dishonest! As for instructional content it is limited to the first 3 pages which you can already see in the "look inside" feature. Buyers would be better served by any college marketing text or by browsing the phone book. Save your money !
Don't Bother.......2004-06-22
Other than many examples of ads, this book offers very little. Being brand new to the marketing area, I was hoping for much more guidance. I can comfortably say that I know as much after having read the book as I did before I read the book.

Keynes's foundation for decision analysis is superior.......2004-12-15
Wakker(W)presents an interesting formal, mathematical, axiomatic treatment of a non- Subjective Expected Utility approach to decision making .W's intent is to provide a generalization of the SEU approach that can deal with Ellsberg-Popper type paradoxes,Allais problems and Tversky-Kahneman Prospect problems,as well as the standard type of risk problem where the probabilities are additive, linear, unique, definite single real numbers. The major criticism of the book is that it overlooks the contributions to the foundations of decision analysis made by John Maynard Keynes in 1921 in his A Treatise on Probability in chapters 6, 15,17,20,22,26,29,and 30.Keynes's system is much easier to understand, apply and use in the real world of actual everyday decision making where the probabilities are non-additive,ambiguous and unclear than the extremely cumbersome ,axiomatic approach of W.Keynes was the first writer on decision theory to specify a clearly defined mathematical approach to the determination of probabilistic interval(set) estimates.Keynes was the first to provide an axiomatic foundation that would apply to both numerical probabilities as well as "nonnumerical"probabilities(Keynes called his interval estimates nonnumerical probabilities .F P Ramsey completely misinterpreted Keynes's meaning and assumed that Keynes meant that numbers could not in general be used in the estimation of probabilities ,except in the special case of symmetrical evidence. This conclusion has misled economists, philosophers and decision theorists for over 80 years).Keynes was the first decision theorist to specify an index to measure the credibility of the evidential base upon which the probabilities would be calculated.Keynes defined the variable w to measure the weight of the evidence.w measured the completeness of the relevant actual and potential evidence available to a decision maker in order to estimate probabilities.w was defined by Keynes on the unit interval [0,1].Thus,0
<=w
<=1.Keynes was the first to provide a generalization of either the expected(monetary) value rule, maximize pA or the expected utility rule, maximize pU(A),by creating his conventional coefficient of risk and weight,c.The goal of the decision maker is to maximize cA,where c=p/(1+q)[2w/(1+w)].A modern name for Keynes's conventional coefficient would be to call it a decision weight that deals with ambiguity aversion. One need only invert the term [2w/(1+w)]to deal with ambiguity preference.Keynes's decision theory appeared before Wakker or D.Ellsberg was born.Keynes's w is a correspondence that is a one-to- one onto mapping with Ellsberg's rho. This mapping is isomorphic to Ellsberg's rho variable.Keynes's decision rule, maximize cA, is more general in some respects, overall, than Ellsberg's 1961 model in the range of its application,as the c coefficient also solves problems like the certainty effect, the reflection effect, the translation effect, the preference reversal effect, etc.Based on an application of Ockham's Razor,Keynes's approach is preferred to W's approach or Ellsberg's 1961 approach(Ellsberg's 1962 dissertation, published in 2001,is more general than Keynes's model in the relevant areas of application)in the opinion of this reviewer.
