Customer Reviews:
don;t waste your time.......2006-06-01
Don't waste your time reading other people's review. Just get this book and work with it.
One of the TWO books that saved my life!!!!.......2005-10-24
This book takes out all the random unnecessary stuff that is not needed for the MCAT. I had a really bad experience with kaplan. Those books, I believe are never updated and are lengthy for no apparent reason. Some person in book review recommended a book at secretroute-dot-com , which is very good for strategy. I shelled out a ton of money for prep courses, when all I needed were these two books.
Was very lost and frustrated but now not.......2005-08-04
Before having purchased this book I found myself very frustrated doing official MCATs from previous years under timing. I was trying different methods that I've gotten from word of mouth or from other books and it just wasn't working. This book illustrates the absolute essentials in order to do well. I went from a 4 to 9 in about a week with increased practice. Core examples of what the other companies are spewing and how these methods will not work efficiently was very well laid out. I recommend this book to any future MCAT takers
A must read for Verbal!.......2005-04-20
I have taken 2 different review courses found this book to be a blessing in disguise. It's a must read for improving your verbal score. (As proof I went from a 6 to a 10 on my diags.) Altho seemingly short, I found the techniques to be profoundly simple and effective. Examkrackers relies heavily on main idea and using questions/answers to help cut through the BS. Also u'll find yourself freed from the use of heavy (and time consuming) annotations which most prep companies OVERemphasize. You don't need to read tons of books for Verbal or stress out your optic nerves with time. Also gives good math and essay advice.
Lots of practice material.......2004-02-21
These practice tests are just like the real MCAT. They give you a very close approx. of what your real MCAT verbal score will be like. I recommend this book for verbal practice, and it can be used almost exclusively by itself for review. They give 11 total verbal practice tests, and that's alot. No other verbal practice material compares.

Book Description
Millions of tailored jackets (women's business jackets) are sold every year. Yet in spite of being amongst the most popular garments in fashion stores, there is a depressing 'sameness' about them unless customers are prepared to pay for a 'designer' jacket. To grade very different shapes requires pattern cutting skills which are being lost as new technology replaces traditional expertise. This book sets out to reverse the decline by setting out the practical techniques and showing how exciting 'designer'-style results can be achieved using today's technology.
Customer Reviews:
if you want reliable tailoring blocks this is the book.......2006-01-12
Winifred Aldrich is a master at producing books with clear istructions for well fitting blocks and this book is no exception. It also includes one of the few chapters detailing the history of tailoring that i have seen. This is important as to come to term with tailoring in all its guises knowing the history helps. Her blocks as usual are straightforward to draft and fit really well, but ... she still retains the 'blow by blow' instructional format which as a teacher i find difficult to work with. She provides line drawings of many variations of collars, vents, sleeves, necklines, etc... and then provides detailed instructions on how to draft these exactly leaving no room to develop a knowledge of why you perform each action. Winifred also provides blocks for use with bespoke or hand tailored construction and for engineered or more contemporary construction - and discusses this difference clearly, one of the few books to cover both. For novice pattern makers, those new to tailored patterns or those seeking well fitting basic blocks you can't go past this valuable book. However those of you wanting to develope more sophisticated tailoring skills will be better off with one of the classics such as Helen Joseph Armstrong or Martin Shoben but would appreciate Aldrich as she has much better and more modern fitting blocks.

Book Description
As in every modern economy daily life in Colombia is shaped by institutions that channel the lifeblood of the country: money. As a former government minister, an academic economist and a board member of the "fed" of Colombia, the author presents a broad view of the financial history of the oldest and presently second largest classic economy in South America, covering 500 years of change in banking and monetary policy. Colombia's financial institutions, banks, and governmental monetary policies evolved through long periods of struggles to serve modernization and stability in a region with many contrary forces at work. Profusely illustrated, it serves as a catalog of Colombian currency from its Independence to the present. This is a book of high academic value that is also a pleasure to read.
Customer Reviews:
Awsome Book!!.......2003-10-16
I highly recommend this book, since it is to my knowledge the most complete book on the history of Colombian money, a must for any banknote collector.

Book Description
Focusing on Chile and Colombia during the 1950s and 1960s, Kofas examines the impact of IMF, World Bank, and U.S. foreign policy on the economies and social and political institutions of Latin America. Far from fostering democracy and social justice, foreign loans and aid were major impediments to these ideals. Symptomatic of systematic underdevelopment, cyclical Third World foreign borrowing and debt crises have been responsible for maintaining the debtor nations integrated into the global market economy, perpetuating their dependency, and maintaining low living standards. Comparing Colombia and Chile, the book examines the complex factors of domestic and international forces that account for structural underdevelopment in the Third World. A study on the historical antecedents of globalism and its impact on the Third World, this book analyzes the interplay between IMF, World Bank, and U.S. foreign policy in shaping the economies of the Third World through loans that are the catalyst to global integration. Through its in-depth look at a complex topic, this book will prove provocative and valuable reading to students of globalization, inter-American relations, international finance, Latin American History, and U.S. diplomatic history.

Book Description
MARKETING COMMUNICATIONS: INTEGRATED THEORY, STRATEGY & TACTICS is designed for thoughtful marketing/communications practitioners and students interested in a more comprehensive, eclectic, provocative alternative to traditional advertising and sales-promotion books. The authors are marketing professors from Northwestern University and Fairleigh Dickinson University with extensive business and consulting backgrounds. The book includes sidebars written by some of the top marketing communications professionals in the country.
MARKETING COMMUNICATIONS begins with an overview of the marketing communications process, including research, strategic objectives, corporate culture/identity, branding/positioning, creativity, and media/messages. It then guides the reader through a variety of tactics (advertising, publicity, sales promotion, word-of-mouth communication, etc.) and how to evaluate marketing-communication programs. The book then concludes with a "special topics" section that covers legal issues; distinctions between consumer and business-to-business marketing communications; international issues; philosophical issues; etc.
The book is perhaps the first true marketing communications book, in the sense that it is not just a glorified advertising or sales-promotion book, but gives equal weight to a variety of marketing communications tactics.
Customer Reviews:
A must have! It's the foundation for marketing planning........2003-03-14
As a marketing consultant and someone who has personally had the privilege to meet and work with Dr. James Hutton, I give my glowing endorsement for a well written and useful marketing manuscript. Dr. Jim Hutton is a professor of Marketing Communications and this book is geared for the classroom. However, business owners and professionals in all industries would do themselves justice by buying and reading this book.

Book Description
A classic in its field, The Executive Strategist is a down-to-earth guide to the techniques of scientific decision-making known as operations research or management science for busy executives and managers as well as the general reader. It suggests ways to solve basic problems involving inventory ("When is enough enough?"), competition ("How to tackle a smart opponent"), allocating resources ("Meeting the demand"), waiting lines ("Quicken the queue"), getting things done ("Concepts of control"), and search, information, and replacement ("The needle in the haystack"), plus problems in many other areas. The book begins simply with a case history from mythology (the judgment of Paris), builds gradually, introducing the reader step-by-step to all the complexities of today's management sciences, and concludes with a realistic formula for putting the methods to work. Filled with easy-to-follow charts and diagrams and delightful illustrations by New Yorker cartoonist Al Ross, and written with a light touch and an easy-to-understand style, The Executive Strategist has been translated into several languages and been a best-seller overseas as well as in the United States. It is now available for the first time in paperback.
