Book Description
1001 Questions in MCAT Chemistry provides practice questions in all chemistry topics covered by the MCAT. The questions and explanations are designed to teach the student to think intuitively. Like the MCAT, conceptual thinking is encouraged while lengthy calculations are discouraged. Memorization of basic formulas is required, but usually will not, in itself, provide the fastest method to finding an answer. Questions are conveniently arranged by topic. Question difficulty ranges from easy to very difficult. Questions are formatted exactly like the MCAT. Answers and explanations are provided in the back of the book.

Examkrackers Chemistry.......2006-08-22
This is a very good book. Amazon shipped it right away, in excellent condition. This book will help you get ready for the MCATs by acting as your very own tutor. I recommend getting all of the Examkracker series.
Great for high yield review.......2006-05-15
To get into Med school after 15yrs in business I took my Organic Chem series over again, studied Exam Kracker's 101 series until I knew the books cold, listened to EK's Audio Osmosis about 10 times while communiting then took several full length practice tests.
Going in I thought I'd be taking it a 2nd time so I wasn't too stressed. Afterwards, I was even more sure I would be re-taking it. However, I managed a 30 (straight 10's) so I know anyone can.
Bottom line, MCAT is not about knowing a ton of details (unlike Step 1). Know the basics like EK teaches so you can apply the concepts anyway they ask the question. Then practice, practice and pracitce some more (yes, especially the essays). It will help cement the concepts in, but more importantly give you confidence.
My personal belief is reduced stress and being on top of your game test day are more important than which study aid you use. That said, EK's focused and yet whimsical style was perfect for me to go through it over and over until I knew it cold.
Excellent. Do be fooled by other texts, this rocks!!!.......2005-06-19
First of all, if you consider yourself a 'pre-med' and serious about the MCAT, then as such you probably would've done some research about your products you are using... judging from the other reviews, they have not.
These texts are for reviewing the SUBJECTS specifically... NOT for the MCAT!!! There designed to fill in the gaps you may have missed that some teachers 'leave out' during your education.
If you want reviews specifically for the MCAT, and you are already a master of all the subjects covered, then get the Examkrackers Complete Study Package here on Amazon.
The 1001 and 101 question series by Examkrackers is a great SUBJECT review for any student, premed or not. They explain difficult concepts in simple terms. Thanks EK!
Great chem review.......2005-06-03
This book really focuses on the topics that are tested on the MCAT. I'm pretty good in chemistry but this book made me extremely comfortable with all the topics. It's an excellent complement to any review book and I highly recommend it.
A must have for the Physical Sciences portion of the MCAT.......2004-07-23
If you want to score well on the physical sciences portion of the mcat, BUY THIS BOOK. I bought this book 5 weeks ago, and I feel much more confident about the material on the MCAT. Get this book for practice and drilling of concepts. If you don't know the material- DO NOT GET THIS BOOK!!!!!!! Like said above, review the material elsewhere, but if you wanna perfect your concepts get this book. Make sure you review the concept, though, before doing the problems. It's the general rule of thumb, that if you know the concept decently, and If you do problems (which this book has loads and loads, for example, there are 200 problems devoted JUST to acids and bases), then you will master the concept. I have improved my physical sciences scores now to a 12 up from a 9 in just 3 weeks. Granted, I worked very hard, but if you put your heart into this book, and really learn each and every one of these 1001 questions inside and out, meaning you learn why every answer choice is wrong, and why choices is correct, and also if you can give yourself problems just like the problems in the book, then there is absolutely no reason to not perform well on the Physical sciences test. Everyone says how the MCAT test is a thinking test is a valid statement for every section except for the physical sciences section. Only thinking you'll have to do is read and understand the passage (which, say if the passage is about magnetism, and you understand magnetism like thet back of your hand, is a joke), the rest of the test is simple math calculations and concepts. Good luck pre-meds-don't lose faith in yourself-the MCAT's are extremely difficult, but they are also predictable, and most importantly, conquerable.
Book Description
150 pages of questions, answers, and explanations covering all possible topics in MCAT organic chemistry, both stand alone and 'mini-passage-based' questions, b&w illustrations. This book contains 1001 organic chemistry questions covering all the organic chemistry topics tested by the MCAT. Each question is in the MCAT multiple choice format. Questions are arranged by topic, and range from basic to extremely difficult. Typically, questions on a given topic begin easy and become progressively more difficult. Answers with explanations and formulas are provided.

Not the best, it helps.......2007-07-02
The last comment from James Min is on the ball, however, although many of the questions ARE too easy..there are too easy for sum1 who has a solid foundation in OCHEM, like myself. However, with sum of teh questions that i got wrong, the explaniations were perfect in allowing me to understand and review sum of the things that I 4got. Example: What is the hydrogen defeciency of C1204h3Br1-
The formula for this problem is (2n+2) - x/2 where is the number of carbons and x is the number of hydrogen OR Halogen...My OCHEM prof never mentioned that we added the halogens to this equation! So overall I will give the book 4 stars
It will not prepare you for the MCAT.......2007-06-30
It does not deal sufficiently with reactions. The questions are too easy. I don't have a problem with the questions being in discrete forms since one needs solid understanding of the materials (through discrete questions) before being able to tackle passage based questions. But, after having gone through about 50% of the book so far, I don't feel like I've improved in my knowledge base in Ochem. If you need very very basic questions, this book is for you. I get the feeling this book was put together in a hasty manner with little thought invested in the quality of the questions. I would not recommend this book.
Exam Style.......2005-09-23
This book is a hasty review of Orgo, but it covers most of the MCAT material in relatively small number of pages. Although some diagrams are not very helpful, it tells you most of what you need. It is basically a good book if you are a time-pressed pre-med trying to take the MCAT in 2 months. If you have more time, I recommend reading over your orgo textbook once more and doing problem sets in various other MCAT preparation materials (the ones with only MCAT style problems). Hope this helps.
Decent.......2005-07-24
This book was decent in that it reviewed some of the fundemental concepts necessary for the MCAT. However, most of the questions were too easy, and none resemble the format of an actual MCAT question (not passage based). There were some errors, but easy to identify. The book was worth having for extra practice if you have the money, but don't expect much.
Perfect practice problems for MCAT.......2004-02-19
Practice is the key to the MCAT. Review is an essential first step, but is only part of the complete preparation for the MCAT. ORGO 1001 will help you guys ace the Biological Science questions. Everything from stereochemistry to lab techniques is in this book. There are over 90 stereochemistry questions alone. This book won't guarantee a 15, but it may help raise your score a couple points.
Book Description
This book reviews all the inorganic chemistry tested by the MCAT. It includes seven 30 minute exams in the MCAT format, and 85 additional stand alone questions. All 266 questions are in MCAT form and fully annotated. This book is expensive because it is the best MCAT chemistry review available.
Customer Reviews:
another solid review book. .......2006-11-04
If you did well in gen chem, then this book will be great for reviewing concepts in a timely manner. The section on acid\base chemistry and electrochemistry are quick and to the point.
Exceptional MCAT Prep Materials.......2002-04-29
This book contains all the info necessary to do well on the Physical Sciences section of the MCAT. Everything is presented very clearly and this book truly gives you an understanding of mcat chemistry. I recently took the April MCAT and I must say that this book and the Examkrackers physics made me feel like the PS was a JOKE! Their materials allow you to understand the mcat science conceptually such that no mcat item is EVER intimidating. Each lecture is complemented with a 30min exam where you can test the concepts as you review. (They're challenging though) Examkrackers all the way with no Imitations!!!
Amazing book.......2001-04-02
This book is layed out in a fashion that allows you to learn the material in a simple but productive manner. If your going to take the mcat this book will teach you chemistry.

excellent review for mcat o-chem.......2006-11-04
If you did well in organic chem 1 and 2, then this book is great for a quick review. the best part is you can even go through it quickly.
Great MCAT Organic Book.......2006-07-25
Top notch book that makes learning the Organic section of the MCAT as painless as possible. All the relevant information without the unnecessary "jibber-jabber". This book will definately get you prepared in the most efficient way possible. The other books (especially the verbal book) also come highly reccommended.
great book.......2006-05-22
I read this book twice now, and I think this book really helps alot. Other than those kaplan books which tells you straight out facts in a very boring way, EK orgo gives you good insight to understand the material fast. I think this books is a great book, but if you want 15 on the bs section, you should also look at other books like kaplan or princeton for more practice.
Sloppy book, lots of errors.......2005-02-09
I was disappointed in this book. I stopped using this book early on in my preparations because I kept finding typos as well as factual mistakes. The content is very brief, which is okay, but it is hard enough studying for the MCAT without worrying whether or not the material I am memorizing is correct or not. I really don't recommend this book.
It gets to the point and fast.......2004-08-04
Like almost every other examkrackers books this book gets straight to the point. It is a great review for the MCAT organic section which seems to be undergoing constant revisions by the AAMC. I am happy to say that examkrackers tries to keep up with the changes and accurately reflects them. This is in contrast to a lot of the other books put out by Kaplan and The Princeton Review who republishes the same edition with a new cover and that's it. The contents barely change. Just take a look at any Kaplan organic review book and you'll know what I mean. Organic has always been my strong suit and I can easily deduce a lot of the reactions. But I needed to touch up on isomerism which is a critical portion of the MCAT for which I used this book. The book is straightforward...has 4 chapters (100 pages) with four 30 minute exams and practice questions pertaining to each section in between. For those who live by flash card or index cards...this book comes with a bunch of them which covers everything from IR specs to the pinacol rearrangement. Highly recommended.

Most uplifting book I've ever read!!!.......2000-09-19
This book changed the way I look at life. I was a died-in-the-wool cynic until I read this book. With the touching stories of others' transformations and the step-by-step guide to personal transformation, I feel as though I have a plan for positive living. Anyone who has ever questioned why something went wrong and felt as though nothing would ever go right again, needs to read this book.

Book Description
Woodshop Dust Control provides all the information woodworkers need to protect themselves from wood dust -- a serious health hazard. With over 100 color photos, this completely revised edition includes charts and graphics, up-to-date information on the latest products and examples of actual shop systems.
Customer Reviews:
This is a good book.......2007-06-08
Very detailed, Easy to read, very helpfull in setting up shop.
Complete it is not.......2007-05-07
Basically what I found is just when the book was getting into enough detail to be useful the section would end.
The book is fine if you haven't ever read an article on dust control. But a two page section on dust control from sanders right at the end of the book??? Come on give us a little meat here. Little detail is given on how to control dust with jigs or with equipment that doesn't have dust control.
I gave it 2 stars because I found it wasn't technically detailed enough to be useful and very vague in areas that really needed attention. Took me 3 hours to read it..I'll put it on the book shelve where ironically enough it will probably gather dust.
A complete guide.......2006-11-21
A very good starting point for anyone interested in woodshop dust control. Does a good job covering the hazards and methods of control of sawdust. It then goes on to describe methods for designing and installing a central dust collection system.
Great Book on Dust Control and Collection Method.......2006-07-04
This book provides a complete and detailed writing on the methods for woodshop dust control methods. It covers different strategies for controlling dust from simple respiratory protection devices(masks), shop ventillation and air filtration and dust collecting machines (portable and central units).
It discusses the advantages and disadvantages of each method for different situations and how to optimize each strategy for a given situation. Great and interesting book. Written in practical and easy to understand manner.
Details, details, details.......2006-03-26
Very good book. Unfortunately it brings up all the little details that I would have preferred not thinking about. Most people probably don't realize how dangerous dust is, and the author covers all the bases. After reading this book, you will have no excuses...

Book Description
Sex in Advertising: Perspectives on the Erotic Appeal is the first book to thoroughly tackle important issues about sex in advertising. What is it? Does it work? How does it affect individuals and society? Well-respected scholars and popular writers answer these questions as they address the following issues associated with sex in today's advertising environment: gender differences and representation, unintended social effects, subliminal embeds, appeals to the homosexual community, and new media. The book contains a blend of perspectives, including original experimental studies, interpretive and historical analyses, and cultural critiques.
The definitive source on sex in advertising, this book:
*is centralized around a singular theme: Understanding how sex in advertising appeals work and why they are so prevalent;
*includes multiple perspectives to capture the richness of sexual appeals;
*brings together viewpoints from both well-known scholars and writers;
*provides a wealth of ideas and research questions for those interested in the topic; and
*contains discussions of sex in advertising from its roots in the 1700s to online advertising today and beyond.
The book is must reading for advertising and gender researchers, scholars, and students. Anyone interested in mass media, consumer psychology, and popular culture will find this book an essential resource.
Customer Reviews:
grab bag of interesting and dull.......2005-06-03
It should be noted that this is a compilation of several different author's works on the subject of sex in advertising. The first chapter discusses the types of sexual content, such as nudity, behavior, attractiveness, referents and embeds. Next, there is a historical perspective on the beginnings and changing mores toward the use of sex to sell. The following chapter is devoted to fetish aspects of advertising including an analysis of leather and its erotic appeals. The proceeding couple chapters are quite dull because they are written as a scientific experimentation of the effectiveness of sex in advertising. However, the next chapter is quit interesting because it tells the evolving techniques of advertisng and considers the topic of saturation. Is it better to cater to the human desire for simplicity instead of creating a tension that is released through purchase. The book then turns to a discussion of the negative effects of using sex in advertising. A notion that sexiness comes from the outside rather that from within is very damaging, as well as the concept of divorcing sex from desire and relationships. What I considered to be the most bizarre topic was Wilson Key's chapter on subliminal sexuality. He claims that there are sexual embeds in nearly every type of ad. Males as victims of sexual objectification is covered in a chapter by barbara Stern. Next, there is a chapter on the depiction of homosexuals in advertising. The author believes that the media often portrays gay life as "one-dimentional, usually revolving around sex." The final chapter covers the marketing of sex online. Overall, the book is worth reading, I would have given it a rating of 4 if it didn't have the few boring chapter I mentions. There are useful illustations throughout.
