Not the best, it helps.......2007-07-02

The last comment from James Min is on the ball, however, although many of the questions ARE too easy..there are too easy for sum1 who has a solid foundation in OCHEM, like myself. However, with sum of teh questions that i got wrong, the explaniations were perfect in allowing me to understand and review sum of the things that I 4got. Example: What is the hydrogen defeciency of C1204h3Br1-

The formula for this problem is (2n+2) - x/2 where is the number of carbons and x is the number of hydrogen OR Halogen...My OCHEM prof never mentioned that we added the halogens to this equation! So overall I will give the book 4 stars

It will not prepare you for the MCAT.......2007-06-30

It does not deal sufficiently with reactions. The questions are too easy. I don't have a problem with the questions being in discrete forms since one needs solid understanding of the materials (through discrete questions) before being able to tackle passage based questions. But, after having gone through about 50% of the book so far, I don't feel like I've improved in my knowledge base in Ochem. If you need very very basic questions, this book is for you. I get the feeling this book was put together in a hasty manner with little thought invested in the quality of the questions. I would not recommend this book.

Exam Style.......2005-09-23

This book is a hasty review of Orgo, but it covers most of the MCAT material in relatively small number of pages. Although some diagrams are not very helpful, it tells you most of what you need. It is basically a good book if you are a time-pressed pre-med trying to take the MCAT in 2 months. If you have more time, I recommend reading over your orgo textbook once more and doing problem sets in various other MCAT preparation materials (the ones with only MCAT style problems). Hope this helps.

Decent.......2005-07-24

This book was decent in that it reviewed some of the fundemental concepts necessary for the MCAT. However, most of the questions were too easy, and none resemble the format of an actual MCAT question (not passage based). There were some errors, but easy to identify. The book was worth having for extra practice if you have the money, but don't expect much.

Perfect practice problems for MCAT.......2004-02-19

Practice is the key to the MCAT. Review is an essential first step, but is only part of the complete preparation for the MCAT. ORGO 1001 will help you guys ace the Biological Science questions. Everything from stereochemistry to lab techniques is in this book. There are over 90 stereochemistry questions alone. This book won't guarantee a 15, but it may help raise your score a couple points.

Top notch book that makes learning the Organic section of the MCAT as painless as possible. All the relevant information without the unnecessary "jibber-jabber". This book will definately get you prepared in the most efficient way possible. The other books (especially the verbal book) also come highly reccommended.

I read this book twice now, and I think this book really helps alot. Other than those kaplan books which tells you straight out facts in a very boring way, EK orgo gives you good insight to understand the material fast. I think this books is a great book, but if you want 15 on the bs section, you should also look at other books like kaplan or princeton for more practice.

Sloppy book, lots of errors.......2005-02-09

I was disappointed in this book. I stopped using this book early on in my preparations because I kept finding typos as well as factual mistakes. The content is very brief, which is okay, but it is hard enough studying for the MCAT without worrying whether or not the material I am memorizing is correct or not. I really don't recommend this book.

It gets to the point and fast.......2004-08-04

Like almost every other examkrackers books this book gets straight to the point. It is a great review for the MCAT organic section which seems to be undergoing constant revisions by the AAMC. I am happy to say that examkrackers tries to keep up with the changes and accurately reflects them. This is in contrast to a lot of the other books put out by Kaplan and The Princeton Review who republishes the same edition with a new cover and that's it. The contents barely change. Just take a look at any Kaplan organic review book and you'll know what I mean. Organic has always been my strong suit and I can easily deduce a lot of the reactions. But I needed to touch up on isomerism which is a critical portion of the MCAT for which I used this book. The book is straightforward...has 4 chapters (100 pages) with four 30 minute exams and practice questions pertaining to each section in between. For those who live by flash card or index cards...this book comes with a bunch of them which covers everything from IR specs to the pinacol rearrangement. Highly recommended.

Industrial Reform in China is the first major attempt to explore the success of China's economic reform using studies of specific industries: the clothing, machine tool, and iron and steel industries, supplemented by analysis of official statistics. Particular emphasis is placed on the comparison of management and production efficiency between township-village enterprises (TVEs) and state-owned enterprises (SOEs). The authors discover that the efficiency of TVEs has been enhanced by the transfer of technology, know-how, and marketing capacity from SOEs. In contrast, reform of state enterprises was found to have had limited impact. Given the enormous differences in efficiency between private and public ownership, it is clear that TVEs will continue to overwhelm SOEs, a process which will in time transform the Chinese economy into a true market-based system.

Excellent! .......2007-02-22

This book is an excellent source of beautiful knitting patterns, including lace, cable and patterns. The black and white photo's of the stitches are so sharp and detailed, the designs pop off the page. The best part, for me, the charts are very large and so easy to see (without my glasses on!)and very easy to understand what she is telling you to do. She also gives some instructional information as well that is very good. If you buy only one knitting stitch book, this is the one to get!

This book is excellent. I bought this book at my local library's book sale last year for a dollar. It has the most amazing and unusual patterns in it and well worth the money. This is a must have for any serious knitter. The more challenging the patterns, the more I like the book.

This has a lot of unusual knitting patterns that you typically do not see in recently published knitting books. There are 350 different stitches, many of which Barbara G. Walker devised herself.

Charted knitting Designs is divided into the following sections: textured fabrics, twist stitch pattern, cables, closed ring designs in cabling, cable-stitch patterns, lace panels, mosaic patterns, color patterns, uncharted miscellany and knitting directions for illustrated samples. The last chapter showcases a few simple projects that use patterns found in the book. All other chapter include a photo of the finished knitted texture and a chart (or row by row directions in the non-charted section) of the pattern. This makes visualizing a finished product so much easier and makes it easy to thumb through and look at textures. The photos cover a big enough section of fabric to really get a feel for them.

The patterns show all kinds. My favorite was one called "The Mask" in the uncharted section. It allows you to knit a theater mask into a piece of fabric. You increase and then decrease for the nose, so it sticks out for a 3-D mask.

This book is hardly a must-have (because there are so many knitting books out there), but it is very good for visualizing what a finished product will look like.

Charted patterns are SOMETIMES best.......2004-02-16

I purchased this book thinking it would be similar to the first two Treasuries, but ended up being a bit disappointed. There are plenty of new patterns, of course, but much less than I'd hoped for, and many of them are (in my opinion) unattractive and unusable. Many of the cable patterns fall into this category, and some of the novelty patterns are just weird. The spider is wonderfully life-like, but I just don't know of anyone who wants a big, lifelike, textured spider knitted into their garments.

This was my introduction (and a good one, I believe) to charted patterns. My current obsession is cables, and many (though not all) cabled patterns work VERY well when charted in this way. They make much more sense to me than the written instructions using codes such as FC, FPC, SBC, etc. I've been taking many other cable patterns and charting them on graph paper using the patterns in this book as guidelines.

Bottom line - worth getting, but not nearly as indispensible as the first two.
