I think this book does an excellent job of explaining the basics of educational technology (instructional design) to novice pre-service teachers. I would recommend this to anyone without prior knowledge in designing instructional materials; even at the graduate level!

It's getting older by the second..........2003-08-28

I bought this book for a class (California Teaching Credential, manditory class). It's a good book for those who have no idea how to handle technology. There are lesson plan ideas and thought bubbles and very good definitions. For those who do know a thing or two about computers will see how dated this book has already become. I didn't feel as that it was worth buying new, and will probably sell it back, if it can be sold back.

I am a recent college graduate who now works full time for a startup consultant. I had to write a small business plan and since it was my first time my boss suggested I buy some books. I bought a few. My boss has written many business plans so he knows what to look for. Long story short, he threw it out the window. This book could have made me dumber.

This book might have helped SOMEONE write a business plan, but it contained only one idea of any interest for me. The authors mention that there is good software on the market to help first-time business plan writers, and they are absolutely correct! The book is a real let-down compared to Business Plan Pro. Your First Business Plan offers over half of its pages as a sample business plan for a company that is: a) NOT a start up (I think a great majority of people writing their FIRST business plan are concerned with start-up information), and

b) NOT a service business (many more businesses provide services than actual products)

So, all in all, this book didn't help me much other than the great advice to go out and buy a good business plan program. So, I pass this advice on to you - free of charge. No reason to pay book prices plus tax and shipping for it!

I loved this book. Perri Klass is a well known Pediatrician, a knitter, and a writer. This book is made up of small essays or columns from different publications that she has written for. They are the perfect size for a "just before bed" read. She is thoughtful and very articulate. The stories and thoughts are personal but universal. You will find yourself nodding your head thinking, yes that is right, how did you know? She entertains you and gives you things to ponder. This book is definitely a keeper.

However, despite more than a decade of "reforms," Russia's financial system collapsed in 1998. Why had ambitious efforts to decentralize and liberalize the banking industry failed? In A Fistful of Rubles, Juliet Johnson offers the first comprehensive look at how Russia's banks, once expected to revitalize the nation's economy, instead became one of the largest obstacles to its recovery.

Yesterday's news - selling an acronym.......2006-06-15

This book is a collection of trends, theories and quotes from 10 to 25+ years ago. I believe the phrase "cutting edge" is used in the product description - this is clearly the work of an underemployed political speech writer. I decided to take a class - you know, to stay current and the instructor assigned this cluttered mess. Thankfully, I borrowed the book and can return it. The authors cram every possible diagram, chart and spiffy quote they can find into insanely long and disorganized chapters. But they have a secret plan. Throughout the chapters they refer to two assessment tools (conveniently offered on associated web sites) as THE solutions for ensuring successful CRM implementations. These assessment instruments are not in the book. Rather they must be accessed and I think paid for separately. So the cash you paid for the book is merely an advertising fee (someone has to pay for this stuff) and when you have read the last page and close the book you'll know what you don't have - one of those assessments they keep talking about. If you took an organizational behavior course, or a project management course, or occasionally read a trade publication or two, you'll definitely recognize most of the concepts in the book. If you actually finished your degree, you probably won't want either of the assessments. Now, I was given the option of rating this book with between 1 and 5 stars. I had no choice but to give it one star. But if I could give it a dead rat or stinky fish rating, I would choose one of those instead.
