Book Description
Benefit from their wisdom...
All roommates are weird. The key is realizing that your roommate is weird...and deciding to get along with her anyway"
-- Senior, Biology, Seattle Pacific University
A professor will not flunk you if he knows your name.
-- Graduate, Sports Management, University of Kansas
...and learn from their mistakes:
After a semester of eating in the dining hall, I quickly learned to steer clear of anything with "medley," "hash," or "casserole" in the name; anything "over rice;" and meat with gray sauce.
-- Senior, Biology, Oberlin College
I regret not changing my major. I thought I had to know what I wanted to do when I got to college, so I stuck with it even though I wasn't satisfied...
-- Senior, Film, Northwestern University

Book Description
What is College Really Like?
Hundreds of college students give you the truth about:
- Getting along with roommates
- Dating and parties
- How to manage your time
- Classes and majors
- And much more!
Benefit from their wisdom... And learn from their mistakes:
You have to ask yourself, "What class is going to get me out of bed at eight o'clock in the morning?" That is a class you should definitely sign up for. -- Senior, Biomedical Sciences, Marquette University
Be very careful of the meat the dining hall serves later in the week. Monday's meatloaf has a strange way of reappearing in Friday's spaghetti sauce. -- Junior, English, Georgetown University
Don't go on spring break with people at school who you find annoying. If they annoy you at school, they'll annoy you five times as much on the beaches of the Bahamas. -- Senior, Communications, Cornell University
It's going to seem like you have a lot of free time because you are only in class for three to four hours a day. When midterms come around, however, you will realize what you were supposed to be doing during that "free time."

ONCE UPON A CAMPUS.......2005-05-17
This book is a must for anyone going off to college. It was so fun to read, and the advice so important to know, that I am ordering several more copies to give out as graduation gifts. It gave short, to the point, and often humorous advice about everything from getting along with your roommate(s) and dorm mates to what to bring to college, eating, managing your finances, picking classes, choosing your major, going Greek, making friends, studying, writing, taking exams, and much more.

Brian Tracy is solid again.......2006-01-03
Brian Tracy is a guy who has a way of simplifying complex issues and in this small business guide he does it again. It is an easy read and one packed with some simple yet powerful ideas. If youre looking for business ideas to take your business to the next level then this is a good start. Worth the read and then some
Turbocharge your business with TurboStrategy.......2005-12-25
Brian Tracy knows a thing or two about business. He has personally consulted with over 500 companies in addition to creating his own super successful enterprises.
This book is not a complete "how to" but offers information that you won't find anywhere else. Best of all it works!
Fans of MBA business degree programs may scoff at this work, but how manyof those people, including college professors who teach MBA programs are making money from a business or even own one? And how much of their advice really works? I rest my case.
According to Tracy (and other well documented research), 80% 0f all businesses fail within their first 4 years and of those that succeed, probably 85% are losing money. Brian offers advice to put you into the top 20% that succeeds and stays in business.
I recommend this book along with Victory. Read and follow the advice in both and then watch your company SOAR to new levels of achievement.
You call that Turbostrategy?.......2004-10-15
It's one of those "how to . . . in 10 or less steps" business book It is useless information that anyone with common sense can figure it out. Says things like:
"Achieving a specific level or profitability will require producing and selling specific quantities of products or services to a specific market in a specific way" (page 24)Come on! tell me something usefull
Don't buy it.
Fast, effective and easy to implement.......2004-07-13
Brian Tracy is no doubt the leading expert on success and acheivement. In this program, Brian unveils a technique he calls "Turbo Strategy" to help you achieve results faster and easier than ever before. Brian shows you how to remain flexible during trubulent and competitve times.
Must reading for any entrepreneur.
just what the doctor ordered.......2003-09-30
This book is just what the doctor ordered for me. I perused many books on business planning as I felt a good book would help me take my business to the next level. All I saw was garbage, until I bumped into this book. It is not longwinded, but is right on target if you want a no nonsense business planning book. It's worth a lot more than it's sticker price, to say the least.

Customer Reviews:
A good reference........2007-01-07
Some really good projects in here. I've been interested in beading for a while, and I bought this book to aid me in my quest for beading knowledge. And I haven't been disappointed. Some of the projects are really wonderful. The instructions are fairly simple and easy to follow, and there's a bit of bead background in there.
a great book to begin your knowledge of beadcraft.......2005-02-28
I admit to knowing next to nothing about beading, but I have seen some exquisit bead work owned by a neighbor and some done by a friend at work. Willing to try anything new, I decided to learn what I could about the art, its techniques and its requirements to prepare myself for trying it.
Although I looked at a few magazines, I found that they didn't really help me as a beginner. Often the simple projects they offered for the beginner were nothing I really wanted to make. I also perused some of the books on the topic, but while I found they offered information about beginning technique, they then went on to show projects way too complex for me. They did make excellent art books, however, as many of the projects presented were truly impressive.
Simple Glass Beading by Dorothy Wood, offered more of what I had been looking to find. Just the introduction itself shows the variety of fabrics possible with beading, and makes it evident that the art is related to some extent to weaving in some of its techniques. The discussion of tools and materials in the first few pages also makes this point.
Even in this book some of the projects are complicated, not to mention requiring the patience of a saint! I can't imagine myself doing a beaded fabric cover for a book anytime soon. While I can see that a project of this sort might be very relaxing, I'm not sure I'd be willing to spend the time it would take. I have too many other things I like to do with my free time.
The book is a mine of techniques and uses to which one may put them. The methods for making woven beaded bands, for making jewelry, and for creating embroidered embellishments are well illustrated. Certainly anyone who enjoys craft work will find the book satisfying and a great addition to their library.
The basic needs of the craft are few--beads, beading wire, needles--and even some of the more advanced equipment--embroidery hoops, beading looms--are probably not difficult to find or expensive to purchase.
This is a great book to begin your knowledge of beadcraft.

Book Description
John Maynard Keynes failed to correctly interpret classic economic concepts, and dismissed the classical explanations and conclusions as being irrelevant to the world in which we live. The trauma of the Great Depression and Keynes's changed definition of economic concepts, aided by Eugen Böhm-Bawerk, have made it difficult for modern economists to fully appreciate the classical insights.
This outstanding book clarifies the classical explanations to resolve the continuing theoretical and policy disputes. Key chapters include:
- On the Definition of Money
- Keynes's Misinterpretation of the Classical Theory of Interest
- The Classical Theory of Growth and Keynes's Paradox of Thrift
- The Mythology of the Keynesian Multiplier
This unique book demonstrates that it is Keynes's understanding of some fundamental classical economic concepts which is at fault, and extends its analysis to other modern contributions in macroeconomics.

Book Description
In The Atomic Corporation the authors' revolutionary theory is put to the test. Looking across all sectors of business, including retail banking, financial services, telecommunications, IT and consultancy, carbon-based corporations (oil and gas companies), and consumer products companies, Camrass and Farncombe discover some real eye-openers, including how truly more efficient these industries become by a change in corporate structure.
The implications for individuals are equally profound and far-reaching. It might take a decade, but it will happen, and nothing will be the same again. Welcome to the Atomic Corporation.

A DIFFERENT LOOK AT BUSINESS STRUCTURES.......2006-10-29
MESSAGE / CONCEPT
Atomic attempts to identify the future business construct based upon trends identified today. Camrass and Farncombe take the analogy of an "atom" that can become part of larger molecules to form value adding business structures. These are more agile and focused organisations than the monolithic businesses today. To their credit, they try to identify those "atoms" rather than just generalise:
* Smart Companies. Smart Companies "serve a broad industrial base, and are knowledge-based businesses capitalizing on skills in innovation" [p. 63].
* Webspinners. Webspinners source the suppliers from which the customer wishes to buy. "They own the relationships between suppliers and customers by improving the matching process across the value chain" [p. 64].
* Customer Managers. "The customer portal must capture, confirm, refine and constantly use the customer's views and experiences .... in suggesting offers" [p. 66].
* Asst Platforms. Asset Platforms are the atoms that actually "make" the goods that are offered by the above atoms.
* Service Platforms. "Service platforms will take responsibility for organizing common `processes' or all other atoms" [p. 68], such as pay, accounting, administration, etc.
* Portfolio Managers. "The principal competency of these atoms is risk taking. Portfolio owners will manage their atoms as a set of investments that are expected to produce returns, maintaining a mix of types of atoms that produces the right profile of risk and reward".
They move further than articulating their observations though, and even provide the characteristics that will make a winning "atom" in the future.
They are a bit "light on" in terms of statistics to back up their observations, but this doesn't detract from their message, which I must agree from my limited reading and observations, is a very real trend.
WHAT I LEARNT
I learnt that we are a "Smart Company", a knowledge based business that relies on innovative ideas, methods and techniques to make our way in this ever competitive world.
I also feel that the "atomic" business world fits into a broader view of the world - that of complexity [see - http://www.santafe.edu), or perhaps more specifically - social complexity. "Atomisation" would seem to be a construct that is likely to do well in this complex world of self organising entities. Much like a flock of birds in flight that continually changes direction and shape (a complex self organising system), the "atoms" of the future business world will be able to change direction and rearrange themselves again and again to meet the changing tastes and demands of the consumers and customers around them.
More importantly, it has validated our approach that puts "knowledge" at the forefront of any business strategy. The future for business rests on how well it can manage its existing knowledge asset, how it can efficiently produce more knowledge suited to its changing context and how it can best leverage that knowledge for competitive advantage in the case of a commercial enterprise or for better service delivery in the case of a public enterprise.
A Universe in an Atom.......2001-12-08
The Atomic Corporation is without a doubt a rational proposal for uncertain times. Authors Camrass and Farncombe use `chemistry' as the vehicle to explain their proposition and they do it very well. They show us `a universe within an atom'. They show us why mega corporations will be compelled to break up into smaller business units or `atoms' so that they can become more agile and adaptable to the demands of more powerful consumers. Corporations will devolve into complex and ever changing web of business-to-business connections or `molecules'.
In many ways, it supports and confirms our book: Ecosystem: Living the 12 Principles of Networked Business. We use `biology' as our vehicle, instead of chemistry. We both use stakeholder relationships in a holistic manner. We both focus on complexity and collaboration. Where we differ is in perspective. Camrass and Farncombe take the atomic (micro) perspective, whereas we take the ecosystem (macro) perspective and yet we reach not dissimilar conclusions. You cannot afford not to read this book.
Book Description
Several guidelines on cost-effectiveness analysis (CEA) already exist. There are two reasons for producing another set. The first is that traditional or "incremental" CEA ignores the question of whether the current mix of interventions represents an efficient use of resources. Secondly, the resources required to evaluate the large number of interventions required to use CEA to identify opportunities to enhance efficiency are prohibitive. The approach of Generalized CEA proposed in this Guide seeks to provide analysts with a method of assessing whether the current as well as proposed mix of interventions is efficient. It also seeks to maximize the generalizability of results across settings.
The Guide, in Part I, begins with a brief description of Generalized CEA and how it relates to the two questions raised above. It then considers issues relating to study design, estimating costs, assessing health effects, discounting, uncertainty and sensitivity analysis, and reporting results. Detailed discussions of selected technical issues and applications are provided in a series of background papers, originally published in journals, but included in this book for easy reference in Part II.
The Guide and these papers are written in the context of the work of WHO-CHOICE: CHOosing Interventions that are Cost-Effective. WHO-CHOICE is assembling regional databases on the costs, impact on population health and cost-effectiveness of key health interventions using standardized methodology and tools. WHO-CHOICE tools on costing (CostIt©), population effectiveness modelling (PopMod©) and probabilistic uncertainty analysis (MCLeague©) are included in the accompanying compact disc.
