While newer books are on the market, Fergusons's is still the one for planning and implementing an SPS deployment.

I've been handed a Sharepoint project and picked up this wonderful and another older book. Between the two, I feel good about setting up and deploying SPS for piloting, though this book is more applicable to what I believe will be my challenges. And I'm thinking that the example chapters will be worth their weight in maybe not gold but at least floppies or PC cards.

I'll keep this book, but think the author need to update it pretty soon. Very nice detail before and after installation, not like lot of books on the market for Sharepoint. Things are changing, but still worth getting for me at least.

Great SPS book, the only one I need in my library.......2003-01-29

I've read through a couple SPS books out there today, returned one, and only consider this one "keepable". It covers eveything I do as a Knowledge Consultant - design/architecture, deploying/setting up, training my users, managing changes, and so on. I can tell that the author has been through all of this many times over. Great job! I only wish a CD was included so I could easily search through the chapters.

Good for a brushup.......2002-07-14

Having graduated with a BBA in Marketing, yet having forgot some of the raw fundamentals, I purchased this book. It helped to brushup on some topics, and I also learned a couple of new tidbits. Some of the material is for academic purposes only with little real-world use and is perhaps a little out-dated. Having said that, I still find it a useful reference for terms and marketing stratagies and a good reference and starting point for topics such as a product's life cycle. Elementary and short.

Multicriterion Decision in Management: Principles and Practice is the first multicriterion analysis book devoted exclusively to discrete multicriterion decision making. Typically, multicriterion analysis is used in two distinct frameworks: Firstly, there is multiple criteria linear programming, which is an extension of the results of linear programming and its associated algorithms. Secondly, there is discrete multicriterion decision making, which is concerned with choices among a finite number of possible alternatives such as projects, investments, decisions, etc. This is the focus of this book.
The book concentrates on the basic principles in the domain of discrete multicriterion analysis, and examines each of these principles in terms of their properties and their implications. In multicriterion decision analysis, any optimum in the strict sense of the term does not exist. Rather, multicriterion decision making utilizes tools, methods, and thinking to examine several solutions, each having their advantages and disadvantages, depending on one's point of view. Actually, various methods exist for reaching a good choice in a multicriterion setting and even a complete ranking of the alternatives. Covey de veras da unos principios utiles y faciles de comprender para mejorar la vida. Por ejemplo, sugiere el siguiente ejercicio para ayudarte a comprender lo que realmente quieres de la vida. Imaginate que estas en tus propios funerales de aqui a tres anos (no es para deprimirte; sigue leyendo). Ahora imagina que hay cuatro personas discursando en los funerales: alguien de tu familia, un amigo, un companero de trabajo, y una persona de tu iglesia o otra organizacion de servicio a que perteneces. ?Que te gustaria oir que estas personas digan de ti? Al meditar en eso, me dio unas ideas en como podria reenfocar mi vida.

Tambien ofrece unas ideas nuevas en la manera de lograr las metas verdaderas. En final, escuchar estas ideas vale la pena, pero da poco beneficio si no las utilizas en la vida poco despues de escucharlas. (!Tengo que hacerlo yo!)
