This book is quite practical. I have been looking through different books on negotiation and this one seems very complete and not focus one specific tactic to negotiate.
It makes you aware of the different tactics used in negotiation and how to counter-attack them. Some books only focus on attack. The examples are quite easy to understand and are based on daily life negotiation (car, house and so on...). To that you have some useful exercices that you can practice by yourself or with a partner. Recommended!

This is a fantasitic book on negotiating. I have read over a dozen and this is the best, along with Guerilla negotiating. This book details many strategies and "tricks" and gives counter-strategies as well. This book is a must for new and experienced negotiators.

Excellent strategic management book.......2005-08-11

Having this be a required book in a recent course on strategic management, I was pleasantly surprised by the content. This book should be required reading for all who are interested in strategic management. Digman provides students with a great place to start for understanding strategy. Digman gives a clear and concise review of the basics that everyone in an organization needs to understand the foundation of strategy. This book works well with Digman's case study book. All cases are right-on, useful, and very meaningful. Anyone interested in strategy process can use the simple model provided in the book. I would say this is one of the best books I have ever read on this subject.

I highly recommend this excellent book.

Book was in perfect condition with the exception of some small damage that occurred during shipping. The company packaged it well, I think the postoffice just used metal straps during shipping which damaged the book a little. But the company shipped it out immediately which is appreciated!

I was disappointed. The book does contain some interesting thoughts, but 90% of the content is a description of companies facing marketing problems (case studies with a lot of facts). The author doesn't offer the solutions and best practises that would help solve these problems. While reading this book, i felt i was eating a burger without meat. Something is missing...

This is a good book for teachers who want case studies for their students to work on. It's a classroom book. It's not a good book if you want want to read marketing theory and best practises (if you're already in the management world).

I am a MBA Candidate with a finance focus who had the pleasure to use this book. Never before had I imagined that marketing could have the amount of numerical focus that this book shows. There's a case for every type of industry and many world-famous companies in this book. What else is missing from an introduction to marketing text?!

Well-rounded and practical cookbook.......2000-06-30

I really appreciated finding this informative and practical cookbook that helped me change our family's eating habits after my husband was diagnosed with cardiomyopathy. It is crucial that he be on a low-sodium diet and it was very difficult to find a cookbook that provided both low-sodium and low-fat/cholesterol. The recipes are easy to follow and make. The ingredients can easily be found at the local grocery store. I especially liked the section at the beginning of the book explaining the various spices and how to complement the flavors of your food. I also appreciated the listing of brand names that have low-sodium products. Not all recipes are winners, but it gives you a solid range that you can draw from when you try to maintain a feeling that you are eating "normal" food, not a bland diet. Overall a very good cookbook that has become an integral part of my daily food preparation.

Ingrid Betancourt is a rare person -- who puts her courage, brains, and energy to work in an effort to improve her country.

This is not a boring political bio. It's an exciting story of a great person who moves from one adventure to the next, eventually putting her life in great danger.

And it happened. After this book was published, Betancourt ran for president of Colombia. She was kidnapped by gorillas and at this writing, is still being held hostage somewhere in the mountains of her beautiful country.

Here's wishing Betancourt the best. You are an inspiration to me and to all who will read this book. I am eager to read your next book.

Stuggle is the key word!.......2004-06-08

This book was awesome. I loved it. I could not put it down. The story was told in terms that everyone could understand. The book follows wonderfully.
If you are looking for a book that deals with women's rights and the struggles that they must endure, this is a good one to pick. I had to read this book for a history of Latin American class. It really helped us as atudents understand the situation that Ms. Betancourt was facing in Columbia. As well as, understand some of the choices she made.
As a female reader it stirred my emotions. I highly suggest ths book as an educational read, or just a for the fun of it read.

This book reads not only as an autobiography, but also as a political testament from a truly courageous woman. No matter what your political leanings or philosophy may be, you have to be impressed with Betancourt's integrity and character. Reading this book has given me an interest into why Colombia is in the dire straits that it's in today.

Ingrid Betancourt's quest for a peaceful, reformed Colombia may seem quixotic. But it is reassuring to know that there are politicians like her in the world. Let us hope that she will be freed unharmed so that she can again stand up for what Colombia needs today: peace, stability, progress, and social justice.

Ingrid Betancourt is not reclaiming anything. She is pompous and self serving, which can be evidenced by her extensive use of the first person. She believes that she is Colombia's Joan of Arc, an unlikely comparison as she has been part of Colombia's political elite and has never experienced the day to day realities of Colombia. (Its difficult when you spent most of your life in France and then attempt to come back as a modern day Mesiah)
Do not waste your time or money with this book as it does not give you a true picture of Colombia's extremely complex situation. This is just another one in a long line of Ingrid Betancourt's publicity stunts, which included handing out condoms and Viagra (illegally without a prescription) at every streetlight during her campaign.

Great mind, fantastic life.......2003-02-03

Ingrid was candidate for the presidency of Colombia when she has been kidnapped by the Colombian guerilla in February 2002. Since she is still detained and her family received one tape from her in July 2002. Everywhere in the world people start to mobilize for her liberation. She wrote this book just before her kidnapping, when she was a Colombian senator. During all her politic life she has been fighting corruption and drug traffic. She is a model of integrity for us. She believes in Colombia and shows us the good face of this country.

Mr. Peacock brings us into a midtown temple of despair. It is for the most part a sad place with the workers being the well-adjusted individuals in the neighborhood.
It is easy to read and sometimes funny.

When this book caught my attention I decided to order it and see how interesting it was. Never did I think that it would keep me at the edge of my seat wondering what would happen next at the Helmsley Palace. Mr. Peacock's writing, honesty, humor and wit made for a fantastic book. I highly recommend this book to all that want to know what goes on behind closed doors of these very famous hotels. I will also look for more work by Mr. Peacock and can not wait for his next book!! A+++++

Mr. Peacock's anecdotal memoir takes readers inside the Helmsley Palace, a world of contradictions where the wealthiest and poorest exist symbiotically ... most of the time. The author, rather than writing a self-serving vehicle, has instead showed with intelligence and humor the perversions of many who checked in and the desperation of those undesirables who were kicked out. He marries these amusing tidbits with somber vignettes to create an enjoyable, good read. I would absolutely recommend it.
