Awesome.......2006-12-03
I used this book for my own exam and got a 720 on it. I only found two negative aspects of this book; the poor diagrams and irrelevant information. In place of the diagrams in the Kaplan, i recommend that you use Priceton Review. I absolute hope that you don't use the Barron's book, considering all of the poeple i know who sue it said it sucked. I personally found that their font and spacing was too small and hard to read. Kaplan has larger text and large margins in the pages for you to tkae notes.
Kaplan's Biology compared to others.......2005-10-16
I got a 760 on the test (40 points below my goal). Although I read through the princeton review book (which reads like a novel, but not), the barron's book (which DOES have irrelevant stuff), and the REA book (which has 6 practice tests, but the material it reviews doesn't seem quite standard), I used Kaplan's mainly. It takes a lot of time to review, but it covers everything in an organized way, with 5 main subjects. Another note: Use the fourth edition, the one with a green and black cover. All of the "effective through 2003" editions are printed on brighter, higher quality paper than the editions that were "improved." I find it easier to read from this paper, that is just like the paper in your copy machine.
Excellent book.......2004-09-10
This book served to help me with the exam. Important topics liked ecology and cells are explained that is nice to learn from. I also used Cliff's Biology by Philip Pack which is also a good reference--easy reading. However, if you want great test preparation questions get the following which helped also---
The Ultimate Study Guide for Biology: Key Review Questions and Answers with Explanations
Volume 1 isbn: 1933023007
Volume 2 isbn: 1933023015
Volume 3 isbn: 1933023023
These study guides were very thorough for going over the important topics encountered. Kaplan SAT II: is also very good for building the core knowledge in biology that one needs to know for test.
SOLID HELP.......2004-06-18
I used this book along with the Cliffs AP Biology review book. They worked great together. KAPLAN's book reads like a textbook but is good to read twice. Cliffs is excellent inside-out as far as information coverage. Read that for a foundation. Concentrate before you read and you will do just fine. I did- I got a 790 and just read these two books for 2 weeks. The test might have a few wierd questions but don't get afraid, SAT 2s are scored very leniently. You will do fine.
Good book!.......2003-08-21
I used this book (if only for 2 days!) and got a 740 in June '03. The 2 practice tests were good, although some of the other content was boring. I didn't find any errors, and thought that the practice tests were harder than the actual thing

Book Description
Often the most difficult part of the Six Sigma process is getting everyone to understand and completely support the initiative. This is the focus of The Six Sigma Journey from Art to Science, which explains the Six Sigma process in a very understandable manner that is easy to read. The book is a fictional novel which follows the main character as he implements Six Sigma in his company. It chronicles the deployment of Six Sigma along with the real events that happen to companies trying to implement Six Sigma in a struggling environment. This includes the people who oppose it, what is needed to make Six Sigma work, and the many successes and the failures along the way. Through the use of examples and the lives of the characters, the reader gains an understanding of not only the technical aspect of Six Sigma but also the human side. Because the book is primarily motivational rather than technical, the readers will get a much better understanding of why Six Sigma is successful, but will also come away with an understanding of all the tools and how they apply to business. This is an ideal book for any company looking to get started in Six Sigma, or for those experienced in Six Sigma hoping to better educate employees on Six Sigma.
Customer Reviews:
Not what I expected.......2004-02-11
The author took a similar approach to this book as did Eliyahu M. Goldratt in "The Goal". This is a novel about a production plant, suffering many or all of the problems very common in industry in varying degrees. I was expecting more of a treatise on 6-sigma, and the managmeent thereof, but then I didn't investigate the book that well.
If you are looking for an introduction to 6-sigma, how to develop an implementation plan, and see how it can play out, this is a good read, just as The Goal is good in what it does.
The book is a good read, effective for what the author intended, but if you are experienced or knowledgeable, who may want to pass. I would refer it to someone looking to investigate 6 sigma.

A must reading for those of you dealing with the Internet.......1997-11-02
Wally Bock and Jeff Senne have brought an understanding of why and how the internet should be used in terms of marketing, selling and increasing business. The book is written so that the small business to the Fortune 500 company can find insight to strategies and usefulness of the Internet to increase online operations and their profits. This is the type of book that you carry with you on business, have pages 'dogged earred' for reference and to read over again for new ideas and thoughts you missed on the first or second reading. Written in a way that anyone can understand, without the high tech terminology, to get the job done. This is a 'keeper'.

Book Description
For much of the twentieth century, mainstream economists have treated human agents in their models as if they were rational beings of unbounded computational capacity - the notorious `Homo Economicus' of much economic theory. However, the patent inadequacies of this understanding of human nature have become increasingly apparent, and economists have begun looking for more realistic models, incorporating the insights of evolutionary theory.
The authors address the question of human nature in economics, examining not only some of the recent writing on this subject in evolutionary psychology and related disciplines, but also the ideas of important thinkers in the Western intellectual tradition. Beginning with the ancient Greeks and progressing to the modern day, the contributors explore the works of such thinkers as Augustine, Adam Smith, Thomas Malthus, Alfred Marshall and Kenneth Boulding.
Many of these works are placed in a Darwinian, evolutionary perspective, with the imperative that the study of human nature must be consistent with our understanding of human evolution, and should consider how human beings are molded by cultural and institutional influences. Naturally, Darwin's own view of human nature is also explored, undermining the mistaken notion that Darwinism promotes human nature as greedy, uncooperative and self-seeking.
This enlightening, original and highly readable work will be of great interest to professional economists and students, researchers and teachers of evolutionary economics.

Book Description
What is the true source of a firm's long-term competitive advantage in manufacturing? Through original field studies, historical research, and statistical analyses, this book shows how Toyota Motor Corporation, one of the world's largest automobile companies, built distinctive capabilities in production, product development, and supplier management. Fujimoto asserts that it is Toyota's evolutionary learning capability that gives the company its advantage and demonstrates how this learning is put to use in daily work.
Customer Reviews:
Unconscious Learning is not Evolution.......2007-08-24
I intensely dislike the abuse of the word "evolution". This is an example. Evolution is a characteristic of a species, not the individuals that are part of the species. The individuals change by LEARNING, as best they can, not by evolving. If organizatonal practices change without conscious design, that is a perfect example of organizational learning. If the organizational practices in an industry change because the organizations who use one practice fail and those using another don't, that is evolution.
Strategic capabilities can be born unintentionnally.......2000-06-13
A book that tries to highlight the role of system formation processes that aren't deliberately planned in Toyota. It is written after the author's past works on functional analysis of existing/planned manufacturing systems in the automobile industry and Toyota in particular. The presentation adopts the evolutionary approach considering that manufacturing systems aren't merely a product of deliberately planning. Some of Toyota's successful routines may have originated unintentionally. Social systems often evolve because of unanticipated events and unplanned behavior. This idea is related to system emergence, a concept central to his evolutionary framework. What the author has presented and uncovered from Toyota's experience can be happened in other companies or may have been taken place in other companies. This is an example of work that we cannot find easily for other successful companies using an evolutionary approach, not strictly in a neo-darwinian framework. This book gives us general idea on how company's organizational capabilities were born and helps us understand particularly how Toyota has created its style manufacturing system and capabilities. A book that is worth-reading not only by scholars and students in management and organizational science, but also by those being actors in companies' building capabilities.

Book Description
The liberalization of the financial sector demands a new technology to cope with the rising pressures on the profitability of banks and financial sector institutions. Analyzing lending strategies, credit appraisal, risk analysis and lending decisions, while keeping in mind the broad framework
of corporate banking strategy, this book emphasizes that lending is no longer an activity restricted to the assets side of the balance sheet. It must emanate from and fit snugly into the overall corporate objective of a lending organization and, in the process, it must integrate the expanding range
of activities into the mainstream lending business.
An invaluable tool for practicing managers and students of business and financial management, this book demands no prior specialized knowledge of the subject, taking readers from the rudiments of credit appraisal to advanced levels of decision-making. Numerous examples from the world of business
have been provided to facilitate a better understanding of the vast and significant changes in the financial market.
Book Description
Topics include: * establishing corporate goals in credit risk management * integrating credit risk management with operating procedures * credit risk modeling techniques * sample exercises and case studies
