              Book Description

Styled as a complete update to Miller & Winston's 1991 book, Administration and Leadership in Student Affairs, this book addresses issues of critical importance to today's student affairs professional. Grounded in human development, learning, leadership, group dynamics, management theories, and current social science research and evaluation methods, this book articulates the means for college student affairs administrators to function in the forefront of student learning and personal development initiatives.

The Professional Student Affairs Administrator is a comprehensive textbook for master's and doctoral level students in college student affairs administration preparation courses, as well as a valuable reference guide for both beginning and seasoned professionals alike. The book focuses on the three essential roles played by student affairs administrators: as educators who play a significant role in addressing the academic goals of their institutions, as leaders who help to shape the vision of their institution's student affairs practice and educational mission, and as managers who are responsible for coordinating programs and services, supervising staff, and overseeing university facilities and budgets.

This is a great book for assessing your child's education so that you can catch deficiences and correct them before they snowball. Thank you, Ann Cook! You've done all conscientious parents a tremendous service by writing these 3 books...I also love that they are now compiled into 1 book. Unfortunately, you can't just assume you child is learning all the essential skills in today's schools. Trust, but verify!!

5 out of 5 stars Great for parents and teachers!.......2001-02-19

As the mother of a 3 year old son, I found the book to offer great insights for his current age - allowing him to choose what is showcased on the refrigerator, having him "read the pictures" and encouraging him to be happy that he "reads like a 3 year old", as well as providing games and projects for us to work on as he progresses. I found it to be very helpful, easy to read, and broken down into small tasks/projects that are very easy to follow.

This is the most professional collection of articles on competitive intelligence I know of, with a good mix of both technical intelligence and foreign intelligence information. The Society of Competitive Intelligence Professionals (SCIP)has grown from 2,000 members in 1992 to 6,000 in 1999, and it's journal as well as its conferences, set the industry standard. A relatively low standard, but the standard never-the-less.

                        Book Description

For many Germans the hyperinflation of 1922 to 1923 was one of the most decisive experiences of the twentieth century. In his original and authoritative study, Bernd Widdig investigates the effects of that inflation on German culture during the Weimar Republic. He argues that inflation, with its dynamics of massification, devaluation, and the rapid circulation of money, is an integral part of modern culture and intensifies and condenses the experience of modernity in a traumatic way.
