No one who has lived through the last ten years can not have realized how tightly the economy has become coupled to the financial marketplace. Prof. Semmler has gone beyond that realization and has undertaken to examine the actual mechanics by which it occurs. In this excellent and intense introduction, current macroeconomic-financial models are explored; the reader will quickly appreciate how asset price booms and subsequent recessions actually work. Semmler's style is "to the point" and his enthusiasm for his subject is contagious. Anyone with an advanced undergraduate understanding of economics, as well as financial professionals, and scientists and engineers with a curiosity about macroeconomics and the financial marketplace will thoroughly enjoy this book.

This book addresses the topic of innovation and transcends into the philosophical with some profound input from business leaders, artists, and other thinkers. "Passion for Ideas" reaches beyond innovation by considering what new is, how innovation can be created and how innovation will affect our future. In one chapter for example, "Increase and Arrival," Professor Gerhard Schultz from the University of Bamberg argues that the era of innovation is coming to an end.
Other chapters refer to business innovation, with thoughts on how companies can sustain creativity. Some of these ideas, although business related, and sometimes German-centric (the book was translated from German) reveal great insight into what new is and what can be done to develop new ideas. For example, an organization has the potential for more creativity by allowing more disorder in the chapter "The Virtues of Corporate Disorder."
Some of the chapters in this book I want to read again and others I found uninteresting or too abstract. Overall, I thought the authors have pulled together a compelling collection of ideas.

This book is a walk-through of all the parts of mediation. The authors walk the reader through the basics of mediation, deciding whether to mediate, choosing a mediator, starting a mediation case, preparing for the mediation, how the mediation works, how to write an agreement, what happens if you don't reach an agreement, what happens if the agreement doesn't work after all, divorce mediation, business mediation, employment mediation, and using lawyers.
This is an easy to follow book with plenty of examples. Although the book mentions the high cost and time involved with lawyers (and the other impediments that might arise with lawyers), the authors explain clearly different situations in which you would not want to mediate. I thought this enlightening.
The last chapter discussing doing your own legal research and lists a host of good resources. I'm already exploring most of those. Very well done.
The only real dig I have is the pagination. With each chapter, the page numbers start over. Although the chapter number precedes, it is still a little aggravating.
Overall, if you are thinking about mediation or litigation, you would not be wasting your time to read this first.

The book and it's application principles are a definite must if you are serious about implementing 'Lean Manufacturing Principles ' and getting the best of two worlds' (MRP and Kanban). Even if you do not have an MRP system in place this book will deliver results immediately with true 'How To' reasoning. It is obvious that Mr Louis is actively working in the trenches and staying in touch with the 'World of Production'

The goal of these reforms is to reduce litigation costs and the size of litigation judgments, and to control escalating insurance costs. Relying on information obtained from focus groups, individual interviews, and written surveys, this report looks at how behavioral changes relating to tort reform affect insured losses in Texas and how rate reductions for certain lines of insurance can be adopted so that the insured public can enjoy any savings resulting from these reforms.
