Optimization problems arising in practice mostly contain several random parameters. Hence, in order to get robust optimal solutions with respect to random parameter variations, the available statistical information about the random data should be considered already at the planning phase. Thus, the original problem with random coefficients must be replaced by an appropriate deterministic substitute problem. This proceedings volume of the 4th GAMM/IFIP-Workshop on "Stochastic Optimization: Numerical Methods and Technical Applications" held June 27-29, 2000 at the Federal Armed Forces University Munich, Neubiberg/Munich contains new methods for the approximation and numerical solution of deterministic substitute problems, especially the handling of mean value and probability functions as objective and/or constraint functions. Economic analysis is being applied by scholars to an increasing range of legal problems. This collection brings together some of the main contributions to an important area of this work, the economics of contract law. The essays and illuminating notes, questions, and introductions provided by the editor outline the Law and Economics framework for analyzing contractual relationships. The first two parts of the book present a number of useful concepts--adverse selection, moral hazard, and rent seeking--and a general way of thinking about the economics of contracting and contract law. The remainder of the book considers a wide range of topics and issues. The recurring theme is that contracting parties want to assign the responsibility for adjusting to particular contingencies to the party best able to control the costs of adjustment. The adjustment problem is exacerbated by the fact that the parties might engage in various types of strategic behavior, such as opportunism, moral hazard, and rent-seeking. Many contract law doctrines can best be understood as attempts to replicate how reasonable parties might resolve this adjustment problem.

It provides a very pragmatic, yet, powerful approach on how to get overall consensus on the foundations of the enterprise architecture, including products/services, organisation, processes, information and technology.

The framework ensures that the business can understand the full enterprise architecture, while it contains sufficient information for the analyst to proceed.

Looking forward for a new edition with even more practical guidelines

Good idea, but not useful.......2005-09-27

The title, Dynamic Enterprise Architecture, is very good idea, but I think I wasted time and money when I bought and read the book. In chapter 4, the book described the Dyanmic Architecture model that made disappointed.
1) The concept of Development without Architecture is at least impossible, and I do not think it is right concept in principle. I am architect, and have never heard any enterprise application was developed without architecture. The architecture is basically the solution of the enterprise computer system. I cannot image that system is developed without solution, because it will not work without architecture.
2) Except the non-architecture development issue, the other part of the model is not more reasonable than other architecture models, such as Microsoft's Milestone-Driven Process.
3) From chapter 5, the book described the process of using the Dynamic Architecture. First, the process is not useful. I do not think any enterprise will do the same thing that so complicated and so complex, even they decided to use the Dynamic Architecture. Second, Some analysis and evaluation lack good grounds, such as the Finacial Analysis. The cost is very important factor in the evaluation of the architecture. It depends on the hardware and software architectures. The book just gave a number of the cost, and the benefits. I cannot believe the numbers.

Anyway, I think this is a good idea, and important topic of discussion, so I gave it two stars. BTW, the price, $55, is too expensive. I think it might be worth of $15 if the contents are not so disappointed.
