5 out of 5 stars The Title Says it All.......2005-03-29

The book is a fairly easy read, yet it covers many interelated complex subjects.

The concept of the Value Matrix is the linking of customer and selling organization perceptions of items of value to the delivery mechanisms of electronic commerce. This provides a roadmap that can be used to implement directed electronic commerce solutions that benefit both the customer and the selling organization.

The book should be read by everybody who has a hand in creating value for thier organization.

5 out of 5 stars The 4P's Meet Electronic Commerce.......2005-03-18

This book is very informative, easy to read, and the concepts are easily understood. This is a how-to book on customer value, but without fancy hypes in other books I have read. It is simple and to the point. Dr. Brown has laid out a very simple approach to creating value, and really shows you how to look at your customers needs, and help them. The book is based in electronic commerce, but the way it is written, his model can be used in any organization from a travel agency to a car manufacturer. His approach is unique, because it is simply what we all want, value for our buck, and I think the matrix will be absolutely necessary for anyone who wants to compete in electronic commerce, since it breaks electronic commerce into eight very easily understood categories, just like the 4Ps did for marketing.

          Book Description

Emphasizing teamwork, leadership and technology, this book distinguishes itself in two major ways: its emphasis on teamwork and leadership skills and its integration of ethics and diversity throughout. This book is especially timely because of the recent attention given to teams in business and industry, the examination of technology's role in small group communication, and the growing awareness that professionals need to examine their own leadership competence and understand the ethical and social implications of the groups in which they participate.

                Book Description

This book considers the impact of slavery and Atlantic trade on British economic development during the beginning of British industrialization. Kenneth Morgan investigates five key areas within the topic that have been subject to historical debate: the profits of the slave trade; slavery, capital accumulation and British economic development; exports and transatlantic markets; the role of business institutions; and the contribution of Atlantic trade to the growth of British ports. This stimulating and accessible book provides essential reading for students of slavery and the slave trade, and British economic history.

                          Book Description

This work establishes the existence of a sophisticated and smoothly functioning system of financial markets in the mercantile states of northwestern Europe throughout the 1700s. Based on computer analysis of thousands of price quotes from the financial press of the eighteenth century, the results should force both historians and economists to reevaluate their understanding of the evolution of financial markets and their importance for the economic developments of that era.

A very practical book that seems to have pretty well everything you would want to know about persuasion in one easy to read volume. He has 12 laws that make sense as well as a checklist to ensure you have the best chance to persuade your audience. Definitely a library keeper, especially if you are a salesperson, in marcomm, or a speaker/presenter. Lesson reinforced, information helps persuade, emotion sells the deal. The twelve power laws are:

                                            Dissonance

                                            Obligation

                                            Connectivity

                                            Social Validation

                                              Book Description

Amid the current, protracted recession in Japan, new corporations — termed global excellent companies by the authors of this book — have been rising since the end of the 20th century. They are not yet in the spotlight but have a huge market share worldwide with regard to their specialized products and services.

These corporations have climbed to the top of the global market while many other large Japanese companies have fallen into a slump. The authors highlighted their corporate policies and strategies for achieving high earnings — the secret of "producing something from nothing" and "enabling the lesser to win against the greater". They have long focused on specific niches, improved the speed of their business undertaking, and effectively used information technology. The authors set out to study these companies and analyze their practices so as to gain insight into the way companies should be managed in the 21st century.
