This is a very theoretical book.It is for the faint hearted who want to understand theory and do not want to apply in practice. This is not suited if you are looking to use the forecasting techniques in the next 24 hours to forecast sales of your business or your bank account balance or developing cool forecasting models.

Good book to understand the basics and theoretical aspects of forecasting. I recommend a triple espresso if you plan to sit wit this for a few hours.

Yet another excellent book from Tom Mentzer - a must read........2005-04-12

This is an updated edition of Dr. Tom Mentzer's seminal work on the topic of sales forecasting. While Tom has kept the original material which clearly elucidates his groundbreaking approach to statistical forecasting, this edition includes updates on the topic of demand management and systems. This book is very well written and does a great job bringing an arcane subject to life. It serves as an excllent primer and is a great reference on topics related to demand management. Additional papers written by Tom Mentzer can be found at the Steelwedge website.

The author, a well regarded lecturer, consultant, and columnist for the magazine the Virginia Review, has once again produced a hit. We talked to him when this book was first published by Jossey-Bass, and couldn't wait for our copy to arrive. When it did, we found it to be a working sequel to his popular 1994 book "Seamless Government." "Workbook" is just that, plus an excellent reference text at the same time. The book is organized into themes as well as chapters for easy retrieval of information. The book is big on what Russ calls the three Ps - people, plan, and politics. Russ said he wrote the book to give public and private sector managers "approaches, methods, and tools to help them dramatically improve work processes for seamless service. When these approaches are followed, employees tell me that they fight less over turf and collaborate more to find better ways to serve customers. Not a Fad But a Change in Outlook.......1999-10-19

I'm presently using Dr. Linden's book to transform the culture of my city so that to citizens we appear seamless. I used the paradigm of Frankenstein's monster. The tripartite division of the book is designed to make this inter-disciplinary topic more accessible and intelligible to readers of diverse backgrounds. Part I consists of a single essay that provides a broad overview of the main themes in intellectual property scholarship, such as normative intellectual property theory and the legal infrastructure for property protection. The second section of the book presents several essays that are intended to deepen the reader's understanding of intellectual property theory and show how it can help us to grapple with the proper allocation of property rights in cyberspace. And the final section further develops the themes in Part II but in greater detail and with a more practical orientation. While intellectual property rights create dynamic incentive effects, they also entail social costs, and they are sometimes in tension with the development of a robust public domain.
