Customer Reviews:
Great for Middle Schoolers.......2003-04-11
I bought this book but was never able to use it. Frankly, the activities are too immature for grades 10-12. I feel that it is more appropriate for middle schoolers, immature 9th graders or younger students needing enrichment. Sure, I could have altered these activities to suit my students, but then what is the use of buying a book of reproductables, at that price, if you can't reproduce them as is?
Ledbetter's work.......2001-12-06
I am a new up and coming english teacher for some reason Amazon refused to let me wright this is in the regular review. So inturn I chose this, Ledbetter's books are an extreme help to me in the class room. To find out that children in the eight grade can pour soul's out and make it sound like an adult is a amazing I am in the process of trying to get my kids to be like that. Thank you Mrs. Ledbetter for all the help. P.S. ad 20 to the age it made me put under 12
Some Good Ideas.......2000-02-20
This book has some usable ideas, but I found it difficult to envision adapting it to MY situation as a 7th and 8th grade English teacher. It sat, unused on my shelf for over a year. Having just taken an eight hour training from Ledbetter, I now have a clearer picture of what she does than I was able to glean from her book. This volume is a collection of activities and aproaches from her practice, and not a complete"writing curriculum," as the cover suggests. If you want some ideas, it is a good but expensive place to graze.

Book Description
A book for people who would like to manage themselves, their time, and their business better, but are too busy to begin.
Book Description
This text is intended for the two-term introductory statistics course for business and economics majors at the undergraduate or MBA level. College Algebra is a prerequisite. The author emphasizes statistical inference and model-building in a real-world context and presents a complete introduction to regression and forecasting. Statistical software output from SPSS®, MINITAB, and SAS® is included in each chapter's "Computer Applications" section to aid students in understanding and interpreting statistical output.
Customer Reviews:
Another Good book from James L. K. Kenkal.......2000-04-13
This book Introductory Statistics for Management & Economics is very good. It covered all the applications of statistics. Though the title says that this is introductory Statistics for Management and Economics, It has covered from basics to real life applications of Statistical Analysis in all areas. The Statistical Decision Theory is explained very well and that can be applied in every area. Statistical Quality Control explained the importance and how you can control the variance. Time Series analysis is very much useful for Economists and Speculators. It helped me a lot in teaching Statistics for Under Graduate students, with specialization in Economics and Statistics.
Book Description
This Fourth Edition includes new sections on graphs, robust estimation, expected value and the bootstrap, in addition to new material on the use of computers. The regression model is well covered, including both nonlinear and multiple regression. The chapters contain many real-life examples and are relatively self-contained, making adaptable to a variety of courses.

NEW SECTIONS ARE REALLY USEFUL.......2001-04-13
I have done masters degree in MATHEMATICS with statistics optional and have done some management courses also. Here I am a PROFESSOR in a COLLEGE where students do B.SC. from LONDON university under EXTERNAL PROGRAM. One of the subjects I teach is "Elements of statistics". we prepared from this book, new sections were written in very simple way with technical examples and with graphs. My students last year got the DISTINCTION in this subject and this year I am also expecting DISTINCTION again from students. So I wanted to contact the auther and compliment the person. Finally as a teacher I would recommend strongly this book for the students of BSC. for "Elements of Statistics". this is a must read for the said subject.

This is a great book for beginners because it's very well written and has easy-to-follow examples. If you're familiar with stats and only need something for reference, you'll find that this book is comprehensive, and has a great index.

Book Description
TQM gurus and consultants market it as the best change initiative that provides organizations with a competitive advantage. They also say that it is a cure for all problems that companies face. This dissertation provides intellectual and factual data showing that this is not always the case. There are areas where TQM provides a needed change initiative along with others. In addition, once most companies treat improving their processes as a priority, TQM ceases to give a competitive advantage since it becomes a basic entry point into the competition. The dissertation gives examples showing that contrary to what the consultants propagate: 1. It is not a panacea for all problems in organizations and that it fits all types of organizations, 2. It is not the only way to give organizations a competitive advantage, and 3. TQM's fit for the services sector is discussed with emphasis on customer satisfaction. Also covered are some limitations of TQM including empowerment, times of paradigm shifts, major process changes, and reward systems.
Customer Reviews:
Excellent Book - TQM Necessary But Not Enough.......2001-08-21
There is considerable merit in Al-Dabal's book, questioning the adequacy of TQM in solving all management problems, or in leading the organisation to its zenith, all by itself. What probably can not be denied, however , is that while TQM is absolutely necessary, it is not necssary as well as sufficient , as a cure for all problems or cannot help in single-handedly leading the organisation to its best performance. It would be worthwhile identifying other key industial engg. techniques which have helped various managements, practising TQM, in meeting the objectives. In any case the subject is quite fascinating and thought-provoking and the author deserves to be congratulated for his study and coclusions drawn , for the benefit of all management students and practitioners. My Best wishes to Mr. Jamal for similar useful work in future too.
A High Quality Book for sure!!.......2001-08-20
This is an excellent book for anyone in the management position who wants to learn about how to manage! The author gives excellent examples from his vast management experince on the topic.
I would rate this book as a MUST BUY!!

Book Description
The essays in this volume share to an unusual degree a common concern with the competitive mechanisms that underlie collective decisions and with the way they are embedded in institutional settings. This gives the book a unitary inspiration whose value is clear from the new understanding and insights its chapters provide on important theoretical and practical issues such as the social dimension and impact of trust, the management of information in bureaucratic settings, the role of political parties in constitutional evolution, the impact of ethnicity and nationalism on federal institutions or arrangements, and the response of governments and overarching institutions of globalization.

Book Description
Modern marketing techniques in industrialized countries cannot be implemented without segmentation of the potential market. Goods are no longer produced and sold without a significant consideration of customer needs combined with a recognition that these needs are heterogeneous. Since first emerging in the late 1950s, the concept of segmentation has been one of the most researched topics in the marketing literature. Segmentation has become a central topic to both the theory and practice of marketing, particularly in the recent development of finite mixture models to better identify market segments.
This second edition of
Market Segmentation updates and extends the integrated examination of segmentation theory and methodology begun in the first edition. A chapter on mixture model analysis of paired comparison data has been added, together with a new chapter on the pros and cons of the mixture model. The book starts with a framework for considering the various bases and methods available for conducting segmentation studies. The second section contains a more detailed discussion of the methodology for market segmentation, from traditional clustering algorithms to more recent developments in finite mixtures and latent class models. Three types of finite mixture models are discussed in this second section: simple mixtures, mixtures of regressions and mixtures of unfolding models. The third main section is devoted to special topics in market segmentation such as joint segmentation, segmentation using tailored interviewing and segmentation with structural equation models. The fourth part covers four major approaches to applied market segmentation: geo-demographic, lifestyle, response-based, and conjoint analysis. The final concluding section discusses directions for further research.
Customer Reviews:
Excellent book, but delivery is convoluted.......2004-05-19
This is an excellent book for getting a grip on quantitative market segmentation methods. It is a bit murky in places, but definately is one of the more advanced books on the subject.
I recommend it, but with reservation for those who are not up to speed in statistical analysis.

Book Description
With their potential for vicious customer backlash and devastating sales drops, Internet privacy infractions--such as selling e-mail lists and personal data or operating an insecure site where credit-card or competitive-pricing information can be stolen--have become deadly serious business concerns.
The E-Privacy Imperative is especially designed to help Web site owners and operators protect themselves, their customers, and their businesses through careful technology practices and responsible information handling. Readers will:
* Understand the key arguments of privacy advocates, including major threats to privacy and federal regulations concerning privacy
* Learn to avoid both purposeful and accidental or negligent invasions of privacy
* Communicate security and privacy policies to customers and potential customers--to assuage their fears and keep them coming back for more.
Customer Reviews:
E-Privacy: Fact or Fiction?.......2002-03-07
I had to write a term paper about the Internet and privacy issues. I was initially overwhelmed by the amount of information on this topic and didn't know where to start. This book helped focus me and identify major issues whereas I got lost in similar volumes. Some of the info is more technical than I needed, but I'm sure it is useful to other readers with a different perspective. If you are trying to understand what the privacy debate is about, I recommend this book.
Information technology manager on the E-Privacy Imperative.......2002-03-02
I'm an information technology manager for a large municipality. This book helped us get a handle on the issues involved when migrating city applications to the web. One of our main concerns was protecting citizen privacy and I thought the book provided a great overview of the issues involved. The book is clearly written and it is particularly good at shifting gears from what starts out as an overview of the issues to specific concerns that we were having. For example, we were able to use the sample privacy policy provided as a jumping off point for what has evolved into our city's web privacy policy. I strongly recommend this book.
What You Need to Know About Privacy Issues.......2002-03-02
I have waded through several volumes on privacy issues, but most of them are too academic or legal in their focus. I needed a book that clearly explained my rights and responsibilities vis-a-vis my customers' privacy. I am a small business entrepreneur of a successful dot.com, and I need to understand the issues affecting me and my customers. I found this book extremely helpful. Whereas it only touches on several topics of interest to me, the scope is comprehensive enough to get me started. I highly recommend this book to anyone struggling to understand the thorny problem of privacy in the electronic age.
Excellent Business Overview of Privacy Issues.......2002-02-14
This book lays out privacy issues for businesses and employees alike in a clear and concise manner without getting bogged down in legal or technial jargon. As the head of a company with an expanding e-customer base, I have been looking for a book that explains the larger issues facing my organization. With the knowledge I've gained, I can now go off and investigate those aspects of the privacy issue of tantamount importance to me. Many thanks to the authors for this roadmap.
If you're in E-business, you NEED this book!.......2002-02-11
Outstanding coverage of E-privacy from the political end as well as the technical end. With the renewed emphasis on personal liberties and personal privacy, this friendly and easy-to-read guide will help everyone who runs an E-business to mind their customers privacy or risk it all in the justice courts of in the courts of consumer preferences. Do yourself a favor and buy this book NOW!

Book Description
Modularity, Strategic Flexibility, and Knowledge Management presents a revolutionary and comprehensive view of the central role that modular architectures can play in redefining product strategies, in coordinating new kinds of flexible 'modular' organizations, and in enabling new approaches to managing knowledge assets, and guiding organizational learning. The discussion of modularity draws on systems theory, options theory, and technology strategy concepts, and is complemented by numerous examples from Philips, General Electric, Volkswagen, and other companies pursuing modularity-based strategies. The volume clearly defines the core concepts of architecture and modularity, then builds on those concepts to explain the new product strategies, organization designs, and processes for knowledge management and organization learning that modular architectures make possible. The volume is written in a practical, non-technical style intended to make modularity concepts and methods readily understandable and useful to managers. At the same time, the discussion of modularity concepts is theoretically grounded and provides an essential introduction to architectures and modularity for management academics.
