great resource.......2006-11-14
I haven't had a lot of time to pour over this yet, but it seems like it will be a great resource. It came highly recommended to me. I like that you can pick and choose the elements that are the most crucial to your program to start with.
Bring Your Self To Work.......2005-08-15
I will definetly incorporate it for my after-school staff trainings
What An Eye Opener.......2003-12-10
When I first heard about the Bringing Yourself to Work project I thought - "This is amazing! Emotional intelligence is such an important component of success for school-age staff and school-age programs. This is just what the field needs!".
Then I discovered that Michelle and Pat had written a book on the subject. I quickly ordered one and once I started reading it I couldn't put it down. The stories about the interactions that staff has with children are so genuine and the steps to reaching a better understanding of yourself and your workgroup are so easy to comprehend that it makes you want to call a staff meeting to get started right away!
The impact of an emotionally intelligent self and staff cannot be overstated and The Model for Change provides step-by-step instructions and encouragement that help the reader connect to the material in a meaningful way. It is motivational and inspirational to realize that the "soft skills" that are not so readily recognized as indicators of academic success but are indicators of life success can be developed and enhanced in everyone.
I heartily recommend this book particularly for folks in the fields of education, child care, school-age care, or youth development. However, the truth is that any reader can benefit from the principles and exercises included in this book.

This is a great resource for any postsecondary faculty member or administrator who is interested in the issue of connecting teaching and research. Jenkins et al. have laid out a series of workable strategies to improve the learning environment for students in higher education by better linking teaching with the research postsecondary institutions are becoming increasingly known for. An excellent buy!

Good Support Text.......2002-03-31
This is the required text for an SPSS class I am taking. The book is well written and clear. It has proven to be a helpful and useful support text to what we cover in class, especially to go deeper on certain topics. If you want to (have to) learn SPSS, I recomment this book. Take courage, SPSS is not that hard and I am even finding myself enjoying it (thanks in part to this book)!

SPSS 10.0 Guide to Data Analysis.......2001-12-30
This is one of the three best introductory books on SPSS that I am familiar with. The others are Data Analysis by Jeremy Foster and Discovering Statistics by Andy Field. SPSS is a powerful statistical tool and an exceptionally fine software package, its customer support is the best I have ever dealt with. Unfortunately their user manuals are not user friendly. SPSS 10.0 Guide to Data Analysis fills a gap. Norusis's book is written in a light, humerous style but addresses complex statistical concepts in an easy to understand manner. Statistics and SPSS are an arcane and diffcult subject, somehow Norusis has made her subject friendly and funny. This is not to say this is an easy book. One of the things I look for in software manuals is exercises that demonstrate the concepts of the software. The book includes a disk. There are 23 chapters in the book and exercises for 21 of those chapters. I have also seen this book on the book shelves of some of SPSS's training staff. I think that speaks highly of the quality of this book.
SPSS- Beyond just Statistics.......2001-02-26
Hi Friends, I was introduced to SPSS package during my MBA in Agri-business at MANAGE Institute-Hyderabad, India. And I was amazed with its capabilities. It can do wonders for any organization. And the book which I'm writing about just helps you to master necessary skills. But before you open the book or SPSS software, I strongly recommend you to brush up with concepts of Statistics and more importantly which tool is best for analysis. This avoids confusion in interpreting the output.
My suggestion to SPSS Inc., would be to include student version of SPSS Base free of cost to increase it's popularity. This software is not used efficiently by several organisations. The real power of SPSS lies in Syntax reference. So next time you open SPSS be prepared to explore as much as you can. wirte your queries and opinions to me at gopinathkoneti@yahoo.com

Book Description
The topic of population is treated only lightly in the major modern biographies of John Maynard Keynes, yet Keynes himself had strong - if varying - views on the subject. For many years he maintained a neo-Malthusian view of population, based on a postulated link between population growth and deteriorating terms of trade. This led him to take up a militant stance towards 'overpopulated' countries, notably India, China, and Egypt. Keynes on Population publishes two of John Maynard Keynes's manuscripts not published in the Collected Writings: his Cambridge lectures on population and 1914 Oxford lecture on 'Population'. It provides a detailed commentary on the text of 'Population' and discusses the extent of Keynes's engagement with the Social Darwinist doctrine of the 'rapid multiplication of the unfit' and with eugenics. It then traces the subsequent vicissitudes of his views on population and his interventions in the contemporary politics of population. These include his part in the 1920s campaign for birth control, the reversal of his neo-Malthusianism, and his eventual support for family allowances.

Excellent Beginners Guide.......2006-08-02
I haven't finished the whole thing yet but so far so good! Why is this so good?
1, They colate all the information you need to start an online business in one place.
2, They really do walk you through the process.
3, They don't assume you know anything.
4, Becasue of the above they save you loads and loads of time!
In response to the people who said these things:
"other people have noted that the information is out of date."
This is NOT true the edition I have is the 2006 edition and as much as printed materials can be is up to date.
"other people have noted that mainly this product just tried to sell you buggy software."
Well it's true they pitch stuff to you but no-ones forcing you to buy it and it's definately NOT the main reason for reading this material.
"other people have noted that part of the package is a spammer's manual."
I think this is wrong, when folks opt in to recieve materials then they've asked for them spamming is sending unsolicited email.
"other people have noted that corey rudl spends more time bragging about all the money he has made than anything else."
There are many case studies presented to the reader and they do get a but annoying but they are of different clients of Coreys companies not of him himself as such whilst I would of prefered less of them they were still quite engaging.
"they are all right. this program is a manual for dishonesty, badly written and poorly edited."
Nope it's what it says on the cover a guide to building a web based business and strategies to make it successful.
"don't make corey any more money."
We can't he died in 2005.
Ok so what do you get, well the manuals were shipped to me in a HUGE sack upon opening it I found two 500 plus page manuals plus a stack of other stuff such as CD's and booklets. Everything looked professional and so I set off with the first manual. Now give that I'm a jaded IT person I didn't expect to get much out of the first sections. I was surpried therfore to learn a few good tricks, to the point I think I have identified a pretty good niche market using tools I'd heard of but hadn't really looked into much. Without going into too much detial I think this is actually a very well crafted A-Z of how to really build an online business that makes money. In fact I'd go so far as to say that if you really follow all the advice in these manuals you'd have to try pretty hard not to make money as one of the first things they tell you is identify the market and then they get you to qualify your choice to make sure you really will find customers who want a product or service you will deliver. Anyway that's JM2CW but to sum up I think this course is the business!
Classic information any marketer should already know.......2006-04-04
I work in the online marketing department for a multi-million dollar internet business. I also run/have run several of my own internet-based home businesses.
I purchased the 2005 version of this book (shortly after Corey's unfortunate death) to see if there was anything that we could learn. Here's what I discovered:
1. Most, if not all, of the information in the 2005 book was obtained as a result of testing for his own product, which is a manual on how to build an internet business. So, if you are in a similar business (hawking get-rich-on-the-internet-quick manuals), you would be the kind to get the most use out of this.
2. The information is pretty standard stuff. There was virtually nothing in this manual that we didn't already know. BUT, our knowledge came as the result of having spent thousands and thousands of dollars sending people to SEO conferences and other general marketing conferences around the world, and spending millions in advertising with a/b testing. Granted, we know more as a result of actual experience than what is contained in Corey's book, but we certainly could have saved a lot of money by simply getting Corey's book first.
That being said, I think that the information contained within is incredibly valuable, especially if you are new to business. And there is something about hearing it from somebody that knows (and paying a lot of money for it) that gets you up off your butt and doing something. My home businesses are improving because I finally decided to implement things that I know I should have done years ago. But until Corey told me to do it, I was just too lazy to.
And even though much of the information is pretty basic stuff to someone like me, that doesn't make it worthless. But it becomes worthless if you get this book, decide it's no good and therefore don't implement any of the tactics. In that case, you will have bought yourself a pretty expensive space filler for your bookcase.
Totally crap.......2005-05-28
This book and his website is totally crap.
He teach samp technique which annoy any serious customer.
He keep saying about how he make millions of dollar.
I think he is lying. He's website look like the one designed by secondary school boy
a manual on how to rip people off.......2005-05-04
other people have noted the weird presentation with looseleaf binders you have to put together yourself.
other people have noted that the information is out of date.
other people have noted that mainly this product just tried to sell you buggy software.
other people have noted that part of the package is a spammer's manual.
other people have noted that corey rudl spends more time bragging about all the money he has made than anything else.
they are all right. this program is a manual for dishonesty, badly written and poorly edited.
don't make corey any more money.
i made the mistake. i think you will shortly find my copy up here to buy.
Good for Beginning Net Marketers.......2003-06-21
I bought this marketing course about 4 years ago when many of Corey's ideas were a lot fresher. Corey even goes so far as to explain how to farm and exploit people's email addresses, essentially giving a lesson in how to SPAM which is a definite no-no especially now adays. Since that time I've read many other Internet marketing books and many of them echo the themes and methods contained here. So for the beginning marketer this is a great entry into the world of ezines, newsletter marketing, autoresponders and how to build a mailing list. These are fundamental marketing tools and principles that are beyond doubt. But if you've been at it for any length of time you'll quickly find that much of this is now old hat. And the fact that it was written before the dot com bust, makes many of it's claims ring hollow.

eBay's Secrets Revealed.......2007-10-22
eBay's Secrets Revealed
by Dan W. Blacharski
I laughed the first time a buyer sent me postage stamps for a payment. I returned the stamps and told them I accepted money orders or payment through pay pal. She did not laugh. She wrote a negative comment about the transaction and then filed a complaint against me. The litigation lasted for months and I was frustrated and confused. For several years I struggled with my site on eBay. I learned a few tricks on my own through trial and error.
Many powerful eBay sellers were reluctant to pass along any of their secrets. My site was floundering. I decided this enterprise was not for me. If only Dan W. Blacharski's book, `eBay's Secrets Revealed' was available to me way back then, my business would have been a success.
In the very first chapter Dan discusses name recognition. This is an extremely important concept in eBay auctions. Studies show that consumers feel comfortable with items and locations that are familiar.
Dan's information contains simple information regarding keywords that a first time seller may not even consider. The in depth chapter on accounting and taxes can literally save your business. Dan takes a step by step approach on how to succeed in your eBay business.
Make no mistakes eBay is a business and a livelihood for many individuals. Dan lets you know about security, customer service, fraud, payment methods and everything one needs to know to be a success in this burgeoning enterprise. Even the images you post reflects whether this item will be looked at and possible purchased.
Chapter 10 states the importance of positive feedback. This is not something you can shrug off. It can mean quitting your day job or failure. If terms like, second chance, reserve price, buy it now, absentee bid and insertion fee are foreign words to you, purchase this book.
This book can direct a novice, inform a buyer and lead an entrepreneur to success. The money invested in this book will ensure an easy and attainable transition in the art of selling on eBay. This information can also be applied to any other business project. After reading Dan's book, `eBay's Secrets Revealed' I feel confident to once again try my hand at selling and buying on eBay.
I give this book a rating of 5.
Ebay Secrets Revealed Review.......2007-10-01
Ebay's Secrets Revealed
By Dan W. Blacharski
5 out of 5 stars
In the 21st century, almost every American with internet access has either searched Ebay or at least heard of Ebay. There are multiple books out that have a reoccurring theme, which is "make money, make money," but that is about all that is to them. This book not only is a guide to making profit, but it takes you through the in depth steps to get there. It even goes into all of the different branches of information that will answer any almost any question imaginable that has to do with Ebay.
I have found that this book contains an abundance of valuable information to both current and future Ebay sellers. Meta tags are a key tool that are commonly over looked by Ebay sellers, but in this book Dan Blacharski not only covers the topic, but gives examples and even basic tutorial information on the subject. This book truly is revealing the secrets of Ebay.
Reading all of the advice and informative stories from actual accounts is another benefit of this book that gives the reader a personal connection. I also like how the author even gives resources as to sites that are similar to Ebay. I think that any person that needs guidance about Ebay should most definitely read this book. You are enlightened on every subject such as the history of Ebay, how to promote, shipping and handling, and even the legalities.
This book is magnificent, because once you finish reading it, you are truly educated on all of the possible in's and out's Ebay. I have stayed on the side of being a buyer on Ebay, and have never bothered with the selling aspect of Ebay, because I have always thought that the entirety of being a successful Ebay seller was too complicated. After reading this book I feel like I have gained not only a complete understanding of how to be a successful Ebay seller, but I have also gained the confidence to pursue being a seller, because I was finally able to comprehend how easy it can actually be.
An Easy Read!.......2007-09-07
These days, it seems that everyone's had an experience with buying or selling on eBay. In the book eBay's Secrets Revealed, Dan Blacharski gives the reader everything he or she needs to know the set up and run a successful eBay business. Competition is fierce in the eBay business, states Blacharski, and any edge can translate into bigger profits for a business. This book gives you the edge that other successful eBayers may not want you to know - the secrets of the trade.
Blacharski starts at the beginning by describing the origins of eBay, and gives a comprehensive look at all aspects of running the business, from finding products through business accounting. Blarcharski also describes the technology that will make your business a success, such as anti-spam software, auction tools, photography editing software, and working with search engines.
The step-by-step guide is so encouraging that it seems easy to get started selling. There can be many pitfalls to running a business where the customer and seller never meet, and the product isn't seen until after it is purchased. Blacharski reassuringly addresses common problems and helps the business owner avoid trouble through proper planning.
The book has a colorful, attractive layout. Sidebars offer interviews and tips from the pros, checklists, and warnings. A logically-arranged table of contents steps the reader through the process. The chapters are clear and free of jargon, and the reader can easily jump to the topic he or she needs the most. Cute graphics are sprinkled throughout the book, and crisp photos end each chapter.
A new eBay business owner, or someone considering the business, will need this book. All you need to learn to start selling is addressed within the pages, and at less than 300 pages, it is an easy read.
Designed to help eBay sellers expand upon basics........2007-09-03
Dan W. Blacharski's EBAY'S SECRETS REVEALED is for any who would expand their eBay business by tapping into expert advice. From watching out for spyware and understanding search engine optimization to cross-selling techniques, this is designed to help eBay sellers expand upon basics.
Great reference for eBay Sellers!.......2007-08-11
Joining the ranks as an eBay seller requires more than just a nifty product. It takes a keen understanding of the system, from the inside out. Dan W. Blacharski's "eBay's Secrets Revealed" takes you on a complete tour of eBay from the moment you set up shop to the positive feedback in the end. In this book, you will learn everything you need to know about starting and maintaining an eBay business, including how to choose a marketable product, how to utilize keywords for top search results, how to save money on shipping, and most importantly, how to be a successful seller.
Along with real-life examples and interesting anecdotes from real eBay sellers, the book highlights the many common mistakes some sellers make that result in few sales or unpleasant feedback. Anyone who has ever been an eBay buyer can probably relate to slow package delivery, deceptive product descriptions, or poor communications. Blacharski teaches potential sellers all the necessary tricks to maintain a profitable eBay business without resorting to immoral practices.
In addition to the business side of the process, the book contains pertinent information from the computer and network side. Here Blacharski makes sure the reader understands the security risks involved in an online business and provides many useful tips to avoid fraud and crime related losses.
If you're serious about becoming an eBay seller or if you are already a seller, but not as successful as you'd hoped, "eBay's Secrets Revealed" by Dan W. Blacharski is probably the best investment you can put into your business.

Much has been written lately about the many competitive advantages of using Web technologies to create "transparent" organizations, open to customers, suppliers, and alliance partners. Written by a coauthor of the bestselling Digital Transformation, Security Transformation brings executives and managers up to speed on E-business security issues and offers tried-and-true methods for protecting precious information assets. More important, with the help of fascinating case studies, the authors describe a proven approach to the strategic use of digital security as a powerful front-office tool for building a company's reputation as well as customer loyalty.

Customer Reviews:
A good managerial overview.......2002-03-31
Security Transformation is an excellent book for a manager, "C" officer or other less technical readers. The authors take care to present the issues of digital security in an easy to read, non-jargon laden manner. And for the jargon that is put in the book, there is a glossary at the end to help keep everyone on the same page. This is the book you hand on to executives who just don't understand why security is important. It looks at the effect technology security has upon the ability to secure business and the ability to not be part of a larger problem, such as a Distributed Denial of Service attack. The warnings are real, but are not played for sensationalism, cooly explaining what threats are out there and what they mean to "you." I don't think I learned much I hadn't known already, but I did find a nice coherent package to introduce others to the risks, with significantly less amounts of techno-jargon or offputting technical details. A quick read and a good overview.

Mary Pat McCarthy and Stuart Campbell provide just enough technical information to help you understand the electronic security risks your company faces without falling into a complete course in computer programming and Internet data transmission. The authors' most valuable contribution is their structured plan for evaluating your computer system's security and creating security architecture. We [...] direct those who want a more advanced treatment of computer security issues to the book's two appendices, which review some of the same ground in more detail. This book is an important read for CEOs and an essential resource for anyone responsible for corporate security or risk management.
Snappy, thoughtful and useful.......2001-07-13
When I read the first chapter, I thought I had picked up a Clancy novel by mistake. The first section says "Are you scared yet?" You better believe it. The good news, though, is you can do something about it, and this book helps you make informed decisions about what to do. Definitely worth the price and more.
This is a must read for all security professionals.......2001-07-09
This book is one of the best security book on the market. The authors did an excellent job covering various security topics.
