                            I picked up this book on a recent business trip to new york, and read it during the long flight home. I felt by the time i got off the plane that all the niggling questions i'd had about putting my business online (and especially integrating some really quite antiquated bits of our inventory system) had all been answered. i have referred to this book constantly while working out our new system. many thanks for a remarkably clear and relevant guide. this was money very well spent!

                            It seems that author just band-aided chapters from different books - didn't even care about gluing them elegantly. Algorithms that are not even required are mentioned (similar to an educational research magazine) while none of the practices are touched. I found that the "ECommerce for Dummies" from Hungry Minds presented more in-depth and practical knowledge. Even passed brainbench test using that book compared to the one I am reviewing

                            I wish I had had this book three years ago! It is extremely hand-on and covers everything from user analysis to the installation and testing of complex transactions. The section on designing interfaces to legacy systems and databases is invaluable. The book also reveals best ways to extract information from users, marketers, and consumers. This is perfect for anyone involved in the planning, development, and maintenance of an ecommerce system.

                            Setting up and maintaining an ecommerce system is a complicated process. Finally, here is a book that provides a step-by-step, how-to approach to on how to do just that. Before you start any ecommerce project, read this book.

                                                  Sidney and Beatrice Webb were pioneering social scientists and formidable historians of labor relations and industrial organization.They were more than historians--they had a commitment to the systematic analysis of social problems and worked hard to propose effective structures and practices to enable the state to serve the needs of the community as a whole. Their History of Trade Unionism, first published in 1894 and revised in two further editions up to the 1920 edition of this collection, along with the complementary work, Industrial Democracy, published in two volumes in 1897 and reprinted also in a 1920 edition, remain by far the most important works in the history and organization of industrial relations. Their 1898 collection of essays Problems of Modern Industry further explore, among other issues, women and wages, hours of work, the impact of the Factory Acts, and aspects of management--offering besides a lively picture of their working methods. The second edition, of 1902, is reprinted here as it contains a very useful Introduction. All the work in this collection demonstrates the Webbs' appreciation of the complex society of the workplace, that led them to advocate the creation of an administrative class to bring about a more just and effective industrial life.

                                                  Enjoy reading this book. Using various information systems (including satellite tracking) to monitor the store performance is vital to its success. With 6875 stores in Japan and 47 stores in Hawaii, 1997 sales 1.6 billion yen ($13 million USD), 7-eleven's business is quite impressive. I was able to get hot coffee and danish, 6:30 a.m. at 7-eleven Tokyo last week, for 360 yen ($3.00 USD). McDonald, and all other stores were closed. The book would have been better if it covers its competitors, Lawson and others, in more depth. It is a useful reference book for my Global E-Commerce course, Spring 2003 semester.
